Thank you so much for this video. I was so afraid that I was going to have to call an electrician for the van and get some stupid charge again. I pulled the fuse and put it back again and voila! My fan is back in business! Thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks so much!! Our fan would start and then stop a few seconds later. I was already looking at new fans, and seeing if I could find a control board. Then after watching the first two minutes of your video, I turned the battery switch off, then on again, and it worked!
You mentioned turning off the battery power before working on the fan. I just want to mention that in my new Escape19 with solar that if the sun is out the solar controller will still provide 12v power even when the battery is disconnected. There does not seem to be any disconnect switch for the solar so I will probably install one at some point. Pulling the fuse for the fan will certainly be effective.
You are amazing, so handy and knowledgeable. I had to go through this with my class A, wish I had your video back then. Thank you for all you do, very informative. Hugs to both of you
Another nice how-to video. I have had any issues since the conformal coating that circuit board over 2 years ago. Amazing you still have that can with you. Enjoy Mexico 😄
I got my 5th wheel back from the shop and found two of the three Maxx Air fans were no longer running. I started by trying the reset...I used my 1 working fan to confirm when I had fully shut off power to the fans. The converter had a switch (not a fuse) and I had to also use the battery disconnect. Once both were off the working fan had no power. Closing the switch successfully reset my two not working fans. Thanks for your excellent video.
After a long wait MaxxAir did send me a new circuit board with the built in voltage regulator. I bought the CRC spray and put on a few coats. I’ll check in later a let you know if it works as expected.
My Maxx Air fan started to malfunction after 11 months. Fortunately the manufacturer is standing behind it and is sending out a new circuit board. According to the Rep the newest circuit board update includes a built in voltage regulator
Thank you for another outstanding video. I've already ordered some Wago connectors, I did see where they are not waterproof so not recommended for exterior use. As you mentioned, there is a possible issue with the higher solar charging voltage and I have read on the forum that the new Maxxfan boards and fans work with the higher voltage. I have also read that the new boards and fans will be coated from the factory.
Perfect timing! This was next on my to do list on my 21C. I have two Maxx fans that I want to spray the motherboards. I had the board fail in my 19, And yes it happened at 2:00AM. The fan started working by itself with no functioning buttons to turn it off. Fan was blowing in cold December air and I’m up disconnecting power to it 😡
Hi, Thanks so much for this video! My bathroom fan quit raising and lowering using the wall mounted control. The fan itself still works, so I thought it should be the circuit board. Two questions for you; 1) What part of your fan stopped working. 2) Do you feel the moisture affects the circuit board, and is that why you sprayed it with a protective coating? I really appreciate your time, thanks!
Nice! I'm thinking that this something I should do when we get our 21C...in 17 months. Just spray the circuit board when we get it and hopefully prevent the problem occurring to begin with
@@AdventuresInNoMadness And... since we're off to Chilliwack first thing tomorrow morning... I just watched this video again... the can of conformal coating is downstairs waiting for me!
Another great, very informative video! Would you recommend taking apart the fan and sealing the circuit board to someone who takes delivery of a trailer today? I guess I'm wondering if it's best done when the fan is at its least used point or more optimistically if they've just started doing their own fix to this problem by now...
Nice work..Worth watching another vid to seal the ribbon connector, as it can corrode and it's a pain getting a replacement...This vid here, shows how to seal it on youtube- "MaxxAir Fan Repair & Preventing Condensation from (re)Damaging Electronics" .
Trouble is after putting in a new board last spring it eventually started beeping at higher speeds. Upon calling MaxxFan last week they asked if we had solar and how high is our voltage. We charge up to 14.6v and float at 13.55v. MaxxFan said that's too high and we need to install a voltage regulator. When I get time next week I'll be tearing the MaxxFan out again and installing a voltage regulator. They should have informed me that with today's solar you need a regulator and I would have only had to install one time, instead of two.
Thanks for the info Perry! Yes, they should definitely tell people and it's a shame they don't. I'm not sure but the new ones may actually come with a voltage regulator now. For some reason we haven't had any issues with the higher voltage ourselves. This is an important thing for people to be aware of
I am on my 3rd mother board and I have only used my new mini-camper twice!! Maxx insisted that the "supposed" voltage regulator problem was NOT an issue any longer, but I just received my Drok voltage regulator to install with my new motherboard. Maxx also stated their boards are already seal coated for moisture, and that if I spray, it voids the warranty, so still debating that. Funny how some Maxx reps advise the voltage regulator and others say it is no issue, or tell you to add the regulator "off the record." I have been advised all 3 ways. I am just tired of the dreaded alarm, and blinking green light. Also, I am still on warranty, but had to wait for back-ordered mother boards for months., They finally sent me a whole new fan at no cost, because it was going to be quicker to take the motherboard out of the new fan and switch it out with the useless one on my current fan, rather than wait for the delayed mother boards to come in.
Never had any trouble with my fantastic fan, my Max fan croaked within hours. Oh and by the way at the time it was about twice the price of the fantastic fan.
Awesome video. We are past the two year mark full-time in our 5.0 and I can't count the number of idea we have stolen from you two. Of course we have the same fan and would hate to be without it for a day. Do you happen to have a part number and vendor recommendation?
@@AdventuresInNoMadness Very nice video thank you. Do you have any other source for this circuit board (or a specific part number)?. I have the exact model as you, but the Panther RV link seems no longer in business. Thanks
I can open my fan door, but if I turn on the fan itself it will close the door and turn itself off. Do you have any idea what might be the cause? No one else seems to know why. Thank you!
does the green light come on? the green light would indicate the fan is set to auto (maintain 78 degrees). press /hold the auto button again to turn auto off
My Max air stopped working ,But a different problem. I R Remote control stopped working. Black wire from the remote battery (black wire) to the pcb was green, and had to be replaced.
Oh my god, the Green Light of death. The more I work on my fan and the more I talk to people, the more I think this company purposefully built this fan to fail. there is no voltage regulator, so the motor and the circuit board will fry if it gets more than 12v on a consistent basis. And lithium batteries are 14.5v, so you are guaranteed to blow both over time. You absolutely need to get a 12v dc to dc voltage regulator to keep it at only 12v. They are about $15 - $30 depending on which one you get but you MUST get one or you'll be doing this year after year.
Well, that's an extra couple of manufacturing steps and extra cost. And besides, who else are you gonna buy replacement circuit boards from besides the manufacturer? Corrosion on circuit boards has been a problem since the very first time people soldered two wires to a board.
Just used this video today to troubleshoot and repair my fan! Thank you SO MUCH! You've earned a subscriber and my eternal gratitude.

Which wago connector did you use?
You don’t need to remove the outer ring when taking out the Center section with the board.

Can you share the link of where to get the new circuit board? I am running into the same issue! Really appreciate it!!
Try Panther RV Products. Looks like they're out of stock right now though

My Maxx Air fan wouldn't work and it was a corroded rain sensor. This will be an ongoing issue because I can't coat the sensor or it won't ever work.
Well I was just going to start beating on mine with a hammer but this seems to work too

Corrosion on circuit boards has been a problem since the very first time people soldered two wires to a board.
At least it's a pretty easy fix!
It may be worth putting the circuit board in a bag of rice for 24 hours and seeing if it functions correctly without a replacement
Yep didn’t work, now my fan just runs and the circuit board doesn’t work.
That’s perplexing, how is your fan running without the circuit board working?
