    thanks for sharing! from what I've seen and experienced, the more you pull the break lines in tail slide, the tighter the "V" shape of the wing and more unstable it becomes. Once in tail slide hold the breaks at about 50% after the stall to allow it to flatten the stalled wing. also, in SAT, why pull the outside break?
    seeing that this is a few years old, would you agree?

  • @parapenter01
    @parapenter01 10 лет назад +4

    It's not a huge crossbraced parachute for swooping but a paraglider. So you can't have a break-away.

    Around 3:00 you tried to catch the lines with your boots. My first instinct was "hey, if you entangle your legs, it´gonna be a damn hard landing". That said, glad you managed to deploy the chute.

  • @Chris.Davies
    @Chris.Davies 10 лет назад +100

    Dude taking the brake lines out of the pulleys, is not a good idea, even if you tie them off to a 'biner. It means there is a maximum amount of brake which you can apply, which is a very poor idea. I was a paragliding instructor for many years.
    You showed some very poor skills in failing to control the glider while fully stalled, and failing to unwind the twist as soon as it started. PGs are not to be held in a full stall, as it is very hard on the wing and the lines, when it thrashes like that. Full stalls are held until the wing stabilises above your head AND NO MORE.

      Robert Conway : I hope that you can answer this: Can you explain how this accident occurred?? I'm dumbfounded as to why anyone would do things that would jeopardize his life, but apparently, that's exactly what he did. What I saw appeared to be a canopy that did not want to remain inflated, almost as if the pilot was too light ( i'm sure that's not the case ). I recently saw a video of tandem paraglider doing loops, which i didn't know was possible. But, as they were coming out of the 12th loop, the leading edge cords, that attach to the canopy, literally tore away and they deployed their parachute. It just strikes me as irresponsible flying by taking such risks by pushing the paraglider beyond its intended capabilities.

    映像の本人からの状況説明です。フルストール中のツイストはサーマルに当たりキャノピーが大きくバウンドしたことが主な原因です。できるだけサーマルが発生しなさそうな所を選んですべきですね。レスキューを投げたことは初めてでした。実際投げてみてわかったことは
    1 レスキュー開傘後のツイストしたキャノピーはかなり重く、回収は困難になります。
    実際はレスキューとキャノピーがひっぱりあってる感じでハーネスをがっちり固定され身動きはとれず、真上を見ることもできませんでした。
    2 せっかくのロガロレスキューもキャノピーを回収しないと操作できない。
    なんとかライン数本に指をかけ翼端から潰せれば回収できたと思いますが時間はかかりそうですね。なので、まったく上見れずロガロのブレークライン手で探ってみたがわからなくて、操作できませんでした。
    回収できないとロガロとして操作できませんが普通のレスキューとしては機能します。
    映像では後ろ向きに進んでるのはロガロがクロス状態で後ろ向きに開いてるためです。
    みなさん落下地点の煙突を気にしてくれてたみたいでありがとうございます。
    あの煙突はペラペラの薄くて柔らかいアルミ製だったので、もしぶつかっていても煙突の方が壊れてたでしょう。
    この映像でみなさんが安全なフライトに役立つことを願います。
    あととくに日本のフライヤーに言っておきたいことですが、レスキューを投げたことにいい顔しない傾向がありレスキューを投げにくい風土であることに危惧しております。
    しっているかぎりレスキューを投げた人はみんな無傷で生還してます。
    レスキューを投げることを躊躇させない雰囲気作りおねがいします。

      @enmodo 10 лет назад +2

      Yes, but they are designed to recover which is not what happened in the HG collapse I witnessed. And if you do not fly acro and fly in air conditions that are suited to your skill then this kind of thing is very unlikely. Possibly, but very unlikely. You are far more likely to get nailed on launch and landing - where HG and PG seem to be equally vulnerable albeit for different reasons.

    I pulled a ripcord when I flipped on my back, the chute opening up under my legs. I got a leg caught up in the lines and was falling upside down. Eventually I was able to get my foot out of the lines and swing back to normal position.
    A buddy of mine landed on a barbed wire fence and got cut up pretty bad

    Can anyone tell me why the paraglider get out of control? Was it the pilot mistake or it was the weather problem?

    Can't the canopies be deigned with a couple of horizontal battens to keep the tips from folding under? Seems like that's where the trouble always starts.

    Dear Koro Tyan: 'freebrakes' are not helping you, put your brakes back on extended keepers/pulleys(15cm) and then once you can do helico on a respectable freestyle wing, then try some freebrakes for that added sensitivity. Freebrakes have unfortunately become a fashion in acro but lots of top acro pilot still prefer to fly with keepers. Specifically for learning acro, keepers allow the pilot to have a reference point relative to the risers, pilots without refined body and arm movement in stall and helico (+other acro manoeuvres) end up moving far too much and over piloting bad situations as well as having their arms too far away from the risers to rely on quick enough reflexes to grab ahold of the risers in twist situations. ;-) happy training from mike.

      My pleasure :-D, I hope it helps you train more effectively. Remember, you can go like 12cm or 15cm, any more is too much and any less can be too restricting

      Edward Plitt I saw the same thing. I can only guess he was attempting some acrobatics maybe? Generally speaking you're gonna have a bad time if you prevent your glider from gliding.

      Appears to be a test jump. Just like airplanes,new parachute/paraglider designs are tested to the edge of their limits many times before it can be approved for public use. These test jumpers are fitted with cameras while performing a set of manuevers. The film is then analyzed by the design team so improvements or safety enhancements could be made. Like airplanes each canopy design performs different and sometimes in unexpected or unsatisfactory ways. Test jumpers tend to be among the best and understand the additional risks.

      Allen Ayler Definitely possible. I practiced stalls during a sport parachute canopy course. The method for initiating the stall is similiar: wrap the brake/steering toggles around your hand to shorten the lines increasing the wing's angle of attack. Then apply brakes until the wing stalls. I was putting one possibility out there. You identified the other, maybe more likely, possibility. Either way, there are legitimate reasons to intentionally stall a wing. Some of the other commenters didn't seem to understand the reasoning for that.

    As a skydiver I have no experience of these high performance wings. But after he threw his reserve his main concern was the deformed wing. If it was life or death. Why do you not carry a hook knife to cut through the risers of the main canopy to get rid of it? Or have a 3 ring cutaway system? Just curious.
