One of my favorite late night food is Katsu in Ota, Tokyo. My brother used to live a few minutes away from Zoshiki station, and I arrived late at night when I went to visit him. And the first place he brought me was at this Katsu place that was open until late at night, and this place had the best Katsu I've had. The little local restaurants in Japan I find have some hidden gems.
Wow! So much fun! Also - never knew that Asahi made non-alc beer! 😳😓 Another great glimpse into Japanese night life or, more like, the tail end of the evening. TYSM!
Otoro is one of my top faves, especially when it's good quality, I'd love to try some of those late night spots, and see what dances work up those appetites
I probably spent 300+ nights in Kabukicho eating, drinking and singing Karaoke. One night I was drinking in Golden Gai, got really drunk, missed the last train and decided to walk home. At the time, I was living near Nakanobu Station on the Toei Asakusa Line and got as far as Gotanda Station before I gave up and hopped in a taxi. lol
I am actually joining a tour of Japan at the start of October and will be staying at a hotel in Shinjuku for 3 days so this video is fantastic!!!! The only thing that could make that trip better would be to run into Shizuka and her crew and follow/stumble around with them for a while!!!!!

I've noticed that there are some Sushizanmai branches that open late and close late. They've been my go-to late night sushi spots as some of the bar counter sushi chefs can speak a bit of english. They have an english menu too.

His statement at 04:02 is just a nail in the coffin for a lot of people who claim that "sushi must only be eaten with chopsticks". I can imagine he's a veteran from the store's first opening in 1979 :) :) The bartender guy at Chilly Chili Nine (great name by the way) is also very kind! My respect goes to him for very welcoming and working very hard. And that late night ramen place!! Must be so good!! Thank you, Kim and Shizuka-neesan for this video! Lovely presentation of the food, places, and people :D :D P.S: 12:27 wooaah? what's the story behind this guy? He seems like an interesting good fella. look stunning in red dress... kabukicho is always been a place for great nightlife.... some shady scenes but if you avoid those type of places.. it can be great food and drinking scene and can compete with shibuya, roppongi, asakusa for great nightlife
Non-alcoholic beer always makes me think of Beavis and Butt-Head when they buy the non-alcholic beer from the convience store and sit outside drinking it and a cop rolls up and they admit they've been drinking beer and then the cop makes them do the sobriety tests and they fail to do any of them right, and then the cop picks up the beer about to take them in, and then realizes it's non alcholic beer and "they're not drunk, they're just stupid."
Hakata Ramen is very delicious. I also went in Shinjuku to a Hakata Rsmen Shop, but not this one. Unfortunately I can not remember the name. But also very delicious.

Be careful around there, lots of overpricing and drugging drinks, etc. Be careful Japan isn't as safe as people think
