  • If you've ever been forced to read a book in class and disagreed with the choice of book, material in the novel, or thematic elements, you'll appreciate this story.
When working to tell your own stories, think of specific moments in your life where you disagreed, challenged authority, pushed back, felt injustice, sought the truth, quietly suffered, felt vindicated, chased joy, or even chased gloominess. Stories with powerful emotions hit home with your audience.
Another component to consider: Encapsulated, specific instances. Your audience wants the micro moments with the details, the granules of sand, the scratch of Velcro on your skin, and the exact taste on your tongue. Stories are powerful with specificity. They lose their luster when they're general tales, like if I were to have said "I didn't like what we were reading in class" and kept it that vague.
Drop your story ideas in the comments below and I'll share my thoughts with you!

Very good story. I have two daughters and would probably get along well with your father. 👍

Best Dad move he’d made in a while. The host of the show asked the audience after I spoke, “who in the world makes high school students read Deliverance?!”

@@hannahmichelotti that book is not my favorite. I can also relate to the demanding my daughters cover up from the neck to ankles and down to the wrists. Too much skin showing otherwise. HaHa. They don’t like my acceptable appearance guidelines. I am surprised this hasn’t got more views. Maybe a title like “How to get back at your teacher” or “My teacher and his dead dogs”. Maybe a thumbnail with the book “Deliverance” sitting on a white table.

@turlo’s Garage 😂 I think all Dad’s feel this way to some degree - it’s part of being a Dad! I like your title ideas 💡 Sometimes the video title can stump me for DAYS. Thank you!
