I LOVE WORM. Super suprised to see Scarra bring it up, also I’m sad he didn’t mention just how crazy the universe of Worm is, there’s alternates earths, powers that affect things in 4 dimensions, amazing antagonist like the slaughter house 9, there’s too much greatness in one series

I love Worm but man the finally arc confused me so much lol, especially since at that point, I actually caught up when it started and had to wait for each update after having binge read it all (and skipping the side stories which made it more confusing since apparently even more plot related stuff happened there like certain important characters and what actually the powers were lol).

Restaurant to Another World is my comfort anime that I love to watch at lunch time. I think it's more enjoyable in anime form than manga with the music, color, and animated reactions. I also find the world building very intriguing.

If you guys are looking for actually unique Murim Manhwa suggestions, I highly recommend Wild West Murim. First off, the artstyle is unique and not cookie cutter. Secondly, it is Murim but it leans more towards the Western genre, so it doesn't feel like other Murim Manhwas. It's actually set in the US after China started migrating towards it starting an era of exploration of sorts. It's a great blend of Murim and Western, I promise you guys won't be disappointed in it.

For food based, can I recommend Cinderella chef. It's a Chinese DongHua series about a professional chef that gets spirited to ancient China and has to live using her cooking skills. Animation is crazy good, food looks insanely good and...randomly...it's just got crazy combat animation. Comedy, reverse harem-esque (lots of cool dudes falling for her).
Only annoying thing is it's on crunchyroll but for some reason they only have season 3....but they don't tell you. You'll have to find S1 and s2 on RUclips.

also because i’m that guy, to explain some of the prince of tennis powers
the Tezuka Zone was the ability of the same guy who can make the ball roll towards the net, and was also “explained” by the sheer control and amount of spin he could put on the ball. he always hits the ball in such a way that with the amount and direction of spin it has, the ball will always curve either towards or away from him, but playing like that is so straining on his body that he injured his shoulder.
to explain the guy who takes your senses away, the idea was that he played tennis so perfectly that it actually made you doubt your own senses when you play against him, giving you the “Yips,” which in the series starts to take away your ability to feel, see, and hear to the point where you’re so paralyzed in fear. it’s all really silly but really entertaining lmao

My favorite Manhwa that have already been mentioned include Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, SSS-Class Suicide Hunter (both Library arcs have been fantastic), The Greatest Estate Developer (the faces!), Return of the Mount Hua Sect, Pick Me Up Infinite Gacha, and Reincarnation of the Suicidal Battle God.
Current Manhwa that I'm reading and enjoying immensely that have not been mentioned include:
Reaper of the Drifting Moon - A teenaged street urchin is kidnapped and placed into brutal training designed to turn him into a disposable assassin. When Pyo Wol is finally freed from his captor's control, he'll start his path of revenge against the people who took his life away from him. God tier art, a fairly straightforward story, a satisfying read.
Revenge of the Iron-Blooded Sword Hound - Vikir Baskerville spent his entire life as a hound of the family, doing their dirty work from the shadows. His loyalty was rewarded with betrayal and execution. After the guillotine fell he woke up in his infant body from the past. In this life he will not be his family's faithful hound, instead he will get strong enough to take revenge on the family that framed and killed him. Amazing art, a story with some depth, Season 1 is complete and now waiting on Season 2.
Star-Fostered Swordmaster - A young boy from the slums dreams of becoming a knight and leaving his destitute life behind. When an actual knight descends upon his world and destroys everything he holds dear, the only path Vlad of Shoara wants to take is that of revenge. He'll grow stronger, learn to use aura, become a knight, and kill the Knight of Blue Moonlight or die trying. Spectacular art, slight pacing problems, but enjoyable story. One of the few without the tropes of future-knowledge, game systems, streaming for sponsors, tower climbing, or hunters and gates.
Wild West Murim - In an alternate history, China settled into North America and the Wild West is full of danger, adventure, opportunity and martial arts. Jang Geon travels the new frontier relying on his own unique brand of martial arts to survive. At times you'll honestly forget that he's supposed to have reincarnated into this world from modern day Korea. A unique art style, a mixture of cowboys and murim tropes, some honestly fun action and storytelling. Season 1 is complete. Season 2 slated for a July return.
The Tutorial Is Too Hard - Lee Ho Jae is a former pro gamer who retired early and now lives a life full of boredom. When a window appeared before his eyes inviting him to a tutorial world and asking him to pick a difficulty, the gamer in him picked the hardest difficulty, Hell. Now he's stuck in a ridiculous tower that will kill him if he makes a mistake and the only way back home is to get to the top. The art is good, and the story will sometimes shift time frames without warning, but the story has stakes and the character growth is fairly realistic.
The World After The End - From the author of ORV, a tower appeared in the world, heralding the fall of humanity. A notification gave the world a chance to stop armageddon, people simply had to challenge the tower and make it to the top. One by one people fell by the wayside until Jaehwan reached the top of the tower alone. What he finds there may shatter his world. God tier art, interesting ensemble cast, a slightly convoluted story but with viscerally satisfying moments.
Enoch: Shining Tree - At only 6 chapters, this new offering has made quite an impression on me. A witch's dying curse forces all those wearing armor to become restless, undying, wanderers who slowly go mad from an eternity of suffering. A young teen named Coal lives a simple life with his mother and father until one of these armored monsters appears before him, killing his parents and fatally wounding him. Only the timely intervention of some strange passersby prevent his death. Now Coal will spend the rest of his life finding out how to kill the thing that killed his family. The art has a striking quality to it that I can't quite describe. The story and world are interesting and I look forward to learning more.

About Gacha mechanics in Korean Manhwa: Aside from Pick Me Up we also have SSS-class Gacha Hunter that basically has the Gates/Dungeons appearing in the real world Hunters concept but the main character channels historical figures through Gacha

But I have to say Pick me up is very interesting so far. We have some extra storylines in the background like the original universe our main character was taking care off looking for him, developing the world and advancing the tower level & the mentality of the characters.

Five recommendations, some of which you probably have already heard of or tried reading and one that only has 6 chapters so far. I hope you both give them a look over or for anyone else interested in some things to read.
    1) Dungeon Odyssey (86 chs) - I see a lot of comments recommending this one but here's why I think it's such a nice read, the source material is actually one of the most generic power fantasy novels that I've had the misfortune of going through. This adaptation makes it have so much more characterization and charm with its unique art and changes to the story.
    2) Hand Jumper (62 chs) - Webtoon that's about someone who can go back 1 minute in time and has to use that to beat people who have way stronger powers than her. Also a female MC who feels well written and isn't a damsel in distress. She's in distress but that's just because her situation is awful.
    3) Enoch: The Shining Tree (6 Chs) - I love the high fantasy setting and how the magic system seems based in witchcraft and curses. It's just the beginning so it can easily fall off but it gives me Ember Knight vibes.
    4) Shashin (also known as Death God, 63 chs) - This is a rare wuxia and not a xianxia about an assassin forming an assassin's sect. It was interesting to see a much more grounded martial arts manwha that doesn't have people slicing through buildings.
    5) Ending Maker (67 chs) - The top two players of a RPG game get dropped into that world and work together to clear it. I like it because the two have a very cute dynamic and yes it's a romance.

Another recc that should fit both Scarra's and Peter's tastes (but that you've probably already read) is Doctor Elise: Royal Lady of the Lamp. A villainess princess reincarnates as a doctor only to reincarnate back to her former self, and uses modern medicine in older times (and deliberately invoking a famous real life person in history).

If you want more Manwha recommendations, one of the best current ones is Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. Highly recommend it. The novel is also finished if you want but the manwha is currently about 1/5th of the current story and is about to hit one of the best parts in my opinion. General synopsis is that an ordinary office worker is the sole reader of this webnovel for 13 years and after the series ends, the story comes to life and the office worker has to handle the apocalypse of the story while also dealing with the main character of the webnovel.

Guys check out the Yozakura family mission anime. It actually adds really minor filler that actually enhances enjoyment of its plot. I'm pleasantly surprised cause I went into it expecting to hate it cause I like the manga so much. I think you might need to really like the manga to really enjoy it tho... Also down to ban Derf Ok

i got some decent recs for anyone catching this comment.
1/ Alive: the final evolution was a pretty underrated 2000s shonen manga imo, illustrated by Noragami artist.
2/ Team Medical Dragon is a solid seinen, has to do with JP medical industry and dr's trying to change the system. Manga was supervised by a medical professional for accuracy.
3/ Hirayasumi - slice of life. someone described reading this manga like listening to lo-fi and i couldnt have put it any better. Anyone reading this comment should check it out.
4/ Real/Slamdunk if u havent read these then get on it fake fan
5/ Eureka Seven - its a mecha. the manga is a different continuity from the anime and is illustrated by Deadman Wonderland artist.

i remember those video stores that peter was talking about. my family lived far away from the closest video store, so my parents would rent shit tons of tapes to watch, like whole series of shows. they cost like $1 per tape and no late policy. i think alot of them had that policy because they were illegally taping the korean shows so they could make more copies as needed. and the korean media companies werent gonna try and charge little mom and pop shops in america taping their shows. i remember watching dragonball Z in korean, months sometimes years before they came out on cartoon network or other channels in america.

Has scarra tried reading the official colored version of one piece? It only goes up to 1004 chapters so far but it makes a world of a difference compared to the original. I was also dreading getting through the vast amount of chapters one piece has but I finished the colored one start to finish in under a month. I think it was the best experience I had reading manga. Oda is the goat.

    Some recommendations:
    1. unOrdinary (346 chapter webtoon): a superpower society, story follows high schoolers. Fun battle scenes and art
    2. A silent voice (completed manga): Manga and movie, high schooler tries to make up with a girl he used to bully in elementary school
    3. To be ordinary/Futsuu ni Narita (completed webtoon): Mc with face blindness falls for a girl that has a husky/male voice
    4. No scope (completed manhwa): Mc uses sniper in FPS fame and tries to become pro
    5. Super secret (completed webtoon, reads like comic strip): Supernatural boy (big wolf) falls for ordinary girl who is kind of dense
    6. Maybe meant to be (80 chapter manhwa): Starts with fake marriage to stop nagging parents, explores possible true romantic interest
    7. Shotgun boy (prequel to 8) (completed manhwa): Bullied kid tries to ruin school field trip
    8. Sweet home (completed manhwa): Horror, people try to escape monster infested apartment building
    9. Bastard (completed manhwa): Son tries to stop dad from committing crimes
    10. Boyfriend of the dead (314 chapter webtoon): Zombie falls for girl, some cute romance, comedy
    11. Warrior high school dungeon raid department (45 chapters): Mc has to grow in order to kill the being that poisoned his father
    12. My school life pretending to be a worthless person (66 chapter manhwa): Mc hates his power, has to learn to love and control his power
    13. World's apocalypse online (265 chapter manhua, Chinese manga): Regression, game system, two concurrent plots: Main world with world ending threats and cultivation world
    14. Classroom of the elite (anime, light novel, manga): Haven't read manga but based on light novel source and anime: Artificial genius goes to elite high school to escape the lab his made from, lots of tests/competitions, class v class, to keep from getting expelled. Mc has more character development, discovering emotions and normal high school activities and thoughts, in the light novel but anime shows cold deadpan, calculating genius trying to hide among the masses

I want to recommend "Flying Witch", it has both an anime and a manga and is a slice-of-life, fantasy, iyashi-ke work. If y'all are familiar with Yotsuba&, Flying Witch gives me the same feels-good relaxation.
It is my favourite manga (along with Yotsuba&) and I want it to be more popular so that the artist can get da big dollars from support

I'm so glad they mentioned Hikaru No Go! That's the anime I watch every year!
As for the ending, the mangaka had to stop because some Go player accused them of using his personality and person as a character in the anime. It caused a lot of issues, and so they ended up having to rush the ending, and the world go tournament arc.
As for Sai disappearing, I also didn't like it at first, but the manga isn't about him; it's about Hikaru. Sai had his time, and it was time for him to pass along his legacy to someone else and let Hikaru play and evolve.
