Since ancient times Yemen has enchanted travelers, merchants, philosophers and kings with its secrets and its wealth. At the crossroads of spice and incense routes, Yemen is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in the world that has not yet been touched by the winds of modernity. This fascinating country stretching from the shores of the Red Sea to beyond the shores of the Arabian Sea is extraordinarily rich in historical sites.
The ancient sites are refreshingly free of commercial ventures with an atmosphere of uncluttered authenticity no longer present at better-trodden historical locations. One of the most striking features of Yemen is its astonishing architecture. The country is covered in ancient skyscrapers made from stone and mud - where people live on top of their animals.

It was the privilege of my life to live and work in Yemen from 1990 - 1998. I lived in Sana'a's Old Quarter in a multi-storey house. Walking home at night after work with every single window's stained glass fanlight backlit from within was like something out of Minas Tirith in Lord of the Rings. May Yemen soon once more be Yemen Said!

I am Palestinian and I have never been to Yemen, yet i always feel that Yemen is a place where I belong. Our culture, traditions, language came from this beautiful place. I hope Yemen sees better days and come back stable and strong like it is remembered. Through out history Yemen was a place of trade and prosperity, safe, and welcoming. A place where people are kind and welcoming.

Super, I served there as a diplomat for 3 years. It was frustrating yet memorable and it is a pity see the state of the country now.
I bet most of people think, these are deserted houses!! Believe it or not, people still live in there..!! And I lived in Sana'a in Old city for more than three years, they were my best days in my life..!!

Magnificent...just thought the time in between shots was a tad too short in places. We owe so many architectural, scientific and mathematical concepts to the Middle East. It’s a shame their golden ages, of which they had several, didn’t continue...so much to contribute. I envy those who can travel and witness the beauty, the reality of their rich history and cultures unknown to those who think only negatively, too close-minded to learn who these people truly are. @@soyouthinkyouaresmart754 While it's sad, most the people that speak about this don't realize that in their country millions of underage girls are pregnant by 12-13 years old, ridiculous rate of crimes like Rape, theft, murder, drug dealing, assaults that if you combine the entire middle east the crime committed in all those countries does not even come close to say New York or London, not mention the immorality immodesty and down right filth that is core of there cultural identity. Basically I'm sure that the place you are from does not have the moral authority to lecture or critique any country until they address there own countries

You can best understand it from the position of a Christian when you believe in Satan and know what strategy he is using for people. Then it gives you logic everything. Why Islam is a double-edged weapon. Anyone can brandish the Sunnah, the Qur'an, but both sources of Islam are built for both moderate and fundamentalists.
More specifically, Islam teaches freedom of religion, yet it forces violent conversions, and Muslims disguise it by spreading Islam mainly through trade. Which is, of course, a lie. The Arabs were forcing the faith, we were forcing. We took slavery women from the Russian steppes, Georgia, boys from the Balkans and people from Moravia.

Watching this now in 2024 with the world going crazy Yemen is a Magnificent beautiful country. I am still amazed how the Yemeni people are not backing down to israel and western country's and standing up for the Palestinian people. Such brave people wow.
It's because we have been going through what Palestine since 2015, for 9 years stright we have suffered a blockade, a deadly civil war and we were getting bombed everyday and every hour by 18 arab countries backed up by USA, no one cared about us, no one even knew we existed until the end of 2023 because of Palestine, since the war started in Gaza, it actually has been the most peacefull time in Yemen since the past 9 years, we are stepping up for Palestine because we know how it feels to be left alone.
