Thanks for the tour. That mine looks like solid rock. Love the cabin with the metal roof, very nice. They found a way to use everything and not waste it like they do today.
never can tell how big a mine is gonna be based on the soze of the mine dump.....that was pretty cool and loving that old miner's cabin ...rare finds and a windlass too .... you should sample some of the ore bodies for Gold when you can and stay safe out there my brother
@@Askjeffwilliams I'm actually in the market for a decent looking mine like that so that me and my friends can fix it up and make it historic and semi operational as a mine.
I have been to this mine complex. It was one of the last ones I visited before moving to NY. The cabin looks to be in rougher shape than last time I saw it. Did you by chance explore the large talcum mine about 5 miles south west of there? Thanks for the video and good luck with your exploring.
Nice Chollas around the 21:00 mark when DT is talking about his boots. He knows how dangerous they can be. Barbs on the golden yellow spines hook into flesh and find a stick or knife to try to pry them loose. I found out the hard way. Mojave Desert area here.

I have fallen while searching for mines. Sometimes the search itself is more danger than the mine exploration. Time for me to reconsider all my potential hikes. So dangerous hiking and exploring alone. Finding friends or family that want to go with is a battle.
Yes. I would start with the rock walls and the floor on the inside of the cabin. Then outside where the miners could be gathered. I found a nice silver belt buckle with turquoise outside a cabin in Esmeralda County, NV.
When I was a logger in the 80s with new Danners and Wesco was told to go stand in the creek. It worked great to break in my boots. I still wear the West Coast.

Did it ever cross your mind when you enter a portal and walk down an adit that there could be a large and dangerous critter somewhere in the mine? You're not even shining your light as far down the tunnel as possible to see what's ahead. Then again, you may not care if there is an animal in there or not until you come face to face with it.
Who in TF is going to be out there stealing stuff out of your rig? You are thevonly person crazy enough to drive out into the middle of nowhere! Mad props, you have big cajones!
Both of you make great points. Imagine though if he lost his keys in a mine, then he'd end up walking home in the desert anyways. I'd say that's even more likely to happen, than any of those other scenarios.
Please be careful entering those mines an caves because you never know whats in those things. You do know several people have not come out of mines an caves because they become a snack to some THING😐STAY SAFE!
I find these trips to the desert interesting, however no one ever checks to see where these people got or kept their water. you can only bring so much in by donkey or truck.
I tested it for him through my high conetech computer that detects anything out of the ordinary. The radiation levels were consistent with nuclear bombing, probably from the tests that were done underground in the area, air levels were fine, just a little dusty.
I've always been surprised by these kind of explorers not knocking down loose rocks before walking the tunnels. It's one of the first things you do when you reopen a mine.
That's not a bad cabin that first one even though it's about ready to go and I know one thing going up that hill I just get a quad myself cruise up there pretty awesome walking is great exercise but you get there quicker with a quad???. 😊 When you get to be 66 you'll think like that.
Although not stated, I presume the old timers were mining gold - nothing else would be valuable enough to warrant all the time and effort...but how on earth (or under it!) did they know where to start? Or which way to tunnel: were they following seams? And why is there no machinery on the surface? The rock would have had to be crushed and separated, both of which require water.
Gotta be deserts of Southern California, near Palm Springs...I can tell because..../ There’s Joshua trees he is passing... they only grow in SoCal and the Middle East.
Nice to find something hasn't been vandalized most wood is gone at the old mine sites here in Arizona. Last 10 years the sites just rock people drive their Side by Sides there spray paint them. There were some had old Model T trucks and cars from the early 20th century all gone even the frames were removed engine blocks to be sold on eBay. BLM has had to close all the trails to motor vehicles force people to hike seems ones that like to spray paint these historic sites are too lazy to hike. Also means I can't take any of my older relatives anymore to them in my jeep. I can't stand the Side by side owners they drive them like jerks and tear up the desert. Were selling the jeep this winter done with Jeeps buying an ultralight airplane nothing to see anymore and tired of dealing with rude people.
I own a side by side. It bothers me how people tear up our desert with them. The big Can-Ams and sports side by sides are made for speed not desert exploration. I have a ranger we go out all the time.
Cool
Never be able to do this myself. So thanks for taking me along

That Joshua Tree, at the third location, in conjunction, with the old miner's cabin, really did it for me.

Very entertaining, thank you 😊
Yes to your great explores and a good adventurous mine p.s. Great choice DANNER boots 🏆🇺🇸

Good job!

Yes they did wall off areas with equipment that they thought they were coming back to.
Would that old cabin [around 5:00] be a good place to metal detect for old coins and the like?
Yes. I would start with the rock walls and the floor on the inside of the cabin. Then outside where the miners could be gathered.

It’s always interesting for all the workings, little to no evidence of a town ever existed

Look for front entrance unless you reple down. As you known they have the shafts for air allso.
Those cans would be interesting to test for lead.
These miners lived like animals. Even animals need water. What a rough existence!
Very cool, but how do you decide if a location is worth the risk to enter?
Thank goodness you remembered to lock your truck. Anyone could just walk by and steal it.😏

Its Death Valley you have zero large predators, maybe come across a small coyote. you have to be more careful of rattle snakes.
This photo of the mine was used in a Bonanza episode.

Daners I’ll have to try a pair.
Here's one for you: remember all mining claims run 1500 ft by 600 ft.
I don't recall what or if you said what they were mining for. Do you know?
It's not a surprise if that was your destination
Sometimes they follow the veins.
You didnt go down the ladder with the wins ?😮
It looked like there was nothing down there but basically a room sized area.
Look down at that pile u went past.

Poisonous gases from decomposing rock can kill you.
Need more water in the rock for that danger
Tiny little no-name mine in the middle of nowhere, and there’s an unsafe mine sign and fence 😂😂😂

Very interesting but “Unsafe mine, stay out stay alive” convinced me
Odds are if the mine has no collapsed in the past 100 years odds it will not collapse while your inside. just have to watch for timbers and shafts.
