Title: These Blues Are All Mine - Tab Benoit - Jiffs Mixes
Tab Benoit was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana November 17, 1967, and was raised in the town of Houma, whose primary industries were fishing and oil production. His father was a musician so he was exposed to music from the very beginning.
The music of his youth was primarily “Cajun waltzes” and his hometown radio station which played “country music.” Drums were his first instrument while he attended Catholic school but switched to guitar out of necessity.
His first gigs were in churches and church related events in rural Louisiana which eschewed drums as the devil’s music. He began playing guitar in Baton Rouge music venues where he formed a trio and eventually expanded into New Orleans and other parts of the South.
This song style is a strong statement by Tab Benoit announcing his true arrival; He only wrote five of the 13 songs on this album, he stakes a legitimate claim to all of them with some of his most inspired playing and singing ever.

Check out this 2006 Album. He does some equally good and interesting things with songs from Albert Collins and Willie Dixon, among others. However, when he plays his own songs, he rips apart the room and leaves it all out there for us to see. 🎸

@@JiffsMixes ya know, I listened again and you’re right. I noticed it more when concentrating on the tune. It’s a really good tune! I always spend a long time listening to the new tunes when they come in! I’ve been listening to jazz recently! A blues friend sent me a full Taj mahol concert I’ve been watching all weekend and it’s fabulous! If it wasn’t for your funky blues and other jazz influences you exposed me to that broadened my horizons I’d probably missed this wonderful music so I thank you for this my blues & jazz buddy!
