The Black Crowes woke me up to this Guitar hero... Luther gave there sound an added dimension of soulful brilliance. From hearing him on Warpaint & Before The Frost i discovered North Mississippi Allstars & now i listen to Luther every day. Love Ballads & Blues.
Thank You , Luther !!!Saw y'all play back in the Shake Hands with Shorty and 51 Phantom days. Tried to play slide on every one of those songs...never could alternate pick with my thumb until you showed us your way in this video. So glad to have "reconnected" via youtube. Best wishes
I'm new to your music, but man, I love your style. I'm so happy I clicked on a link from "Premier Guitar" to find such a nice easy going lesson. I've been playing for forty years now and have never been able to get a comfortable thumb thing going, so wound up hybrid picking as my way out. Now I'm gonna go back and see if your tips help. Also, this video also has a sensational sound to it. What guitar, mics, preamps are you using? I'd love to know. Thanks.
Looks like my 125 although mine is a bit more battle-scarred. Lots of new tricks to learn on a 65 year old instrument (and with a 65 year old guitarist).
