I think it is much cheaper and efficient to use a garden pressure sprayer. It holds enough water to wash a bike and has a small nozzle that can reach in those nooks and crannies. That is what I used to wash my motorcycle with way back when. First pass would be soapy water, let it soak and second pass only water to rinse it off. No rubbing required. It is not showroom finish, but is clean enough. Obviously if you are trail side and want to remove caked dirt, then only one pass with only water would do the job.
I also see little use for this product when the bikes are IP rated so the decades old solution of a garden sprayer is ideal, this IMO is pure marketing. I would NOT use washing up liquid as they contain salts which if not washed off 100% can cause galvanic corrosion between any dissimilar metal to metal surfaces... bike specific ones don't so can't cause galvanic corrosion, also they are too harsh a degreaser. So wrt bike specific cleaners, yes they are overpriced but it's not marketing. No I don't work in the Surfactant industry but I did do many years ago.
I think it would be more useful for people like me in Australia where its mostly dusty, I always wash my bike after each ride because I dont like leaving my bike super dusty but washing it all the time has made the headset rust and im always washing the chain lube off, I tried wiping my bike down with a wet rag and the grit was really scratching into the fame, this would be good just loosen up the dust without scratching the frame so you could just wipe over it and leave the bike for a few weeks before a wash.
Oh dear . I wash my car with a dilutable rinseless/waterless product ( Carpro Ech2o , way cheaper ) and after reading and looking up this washmethod i have found out that there is only so much these products can handle and i must say your bike was beyond that point. If you realy want to preserve your paint finish and use a waterless wash then you should first rinse off as much dirt as possible then use it . The microfiber cloth you used is the wrong type you should be using one with a higher Gsm ( Gram per square meter ) in other words a plusher cloth and after each wipe you use a fresh part of the cloth otherwise you would be draging the dirt over the paint again.
They've had waterless washes for cars for quite a while and although they do work its all about how you use them to prevent scratching the crap out of the paint. With cars you have to use masses of microfibre towels to ensure you aren't rubbing the dirt into the surface and keep folding them to get a clean section each time you wipe. If you want to wash the bike on the go you're better off with one of those garden pressure sprayers you pump up.
Sounds like a recipe to scratch the paint. You had dry grit in the mud and then used that stuff and wiped off wet grit against the paint. I'm using a hose/water/soap and then drying it off with a leaf blower followed by an absorbent towel.
I bought some of this Muc-Off stuff just recently ($55 for 2 litres) and I found it discoloured my front forks. Maybe I left it on too long, but I had issues with this. I had to polish the discolouring out. Otherwise it seemed to do just a good of a job as washing it normally.
Great idea, carry a load of cleaner, lube, polish and cloths with you everywhere! Not a chance in hell, bucket of water, a sponge and elbow grease at home I think.
I'm missing the information if this was advertising or personal experience! I don't want to be rude, but it is obvious that water and soap can do the job faster and cheaper. What about a tip how to transport a dirty bike inside of a car? 😉
Hey mate, I just wanted to try it out and see if it was good enough to use on the go. Obviously it’s not the same as water / cleaner at home, you’d get better results that way, but I can see myself using it after a ride. This wasn’t advertising, just a test that I thought I’d share. Cheers, Rob.
@@RobRidesEMTB I don't know what you were using before (you can tell me!) but the improvement in quality is obvious (well it is to and I am a part-time photographer) - what lens have you got on the X-T3? The lens bokeh is lovely....
Great that you noticed it! The colour from the Fuji is great and the fact it’s a true vid and stills hybrid is what sold it. I’m using the Fuji 18-55 and 50-140 f2.8 which is awesome. Previously shot on Panasonic GH5 which has a lot of features but poor stills and colour is sometimes off.
EMTB Forums there is a memo from Specs to put some foam inside on backside of the motor maybe contact your lbs, keep posting some test i try the bike also and yes what a great geometry
Yes it is. It’s very overpriced, but it is very good. Totally waterproof. I wish the neck did a bit tighter though as in torrential rain water can go down the collar more than I’d like.
EMTB Forums Hmmm, the attack pro fire is more a softshell with a Polartec alpha liner. It’s not really a rain jacket but still water resistant. Are you sure you didn’t confuse the attack pro fire with the attack pro water? 😅 I had both at home to try em, but water jacket was not my cup of tea. The fire is super nice but way to pricey and not sure about the quality. I read that fox has some quality issues on gloves and stuff. But that’s opinions on the internet from others, so hard to tell if true. 🤷♂️
I don't like the thought of dragging dirt and grim off the paint with a cloth, it's going to leave micro scratch on any polished paint job. I'm thinking any professional valet would have a lot to say about products like this. You're riding your bike in mud and water so what's the point of waterless cleaning? It's marketing, MucOff know the increase in ebike sales have shot up and they are hoping to gain extra sales from new riders who aren't in the know.
@@RobRidesEMTB really, you carry some litres cleaning stuff on your rides? I only carry my drinking water, a snack and some cash 😝 yes, I also use Muc-Off but only at home.
Hi mate. Yes I agree but this is good if you don’t have access to water / hose etc. So if you go on a trip maybe and want to clean it off before putting it to the car. It’s never going to replace traditional methods but perhaps has a place for some 👍

This product is perfect for those who have a river near them so they can wash their towels easily.
It says not to use it on heavy soiling, so I imagine this is for a casual weekly wash for street bikes, not off road trails.

Hey Aaron, that’s what I tried to do with this one. 3 micro fibre cloths were needed.

That’s not good sorry to hear that John
Muck off Dry , since when was a liquid called DRY …………….What a LAUGH 😂
I use this for the summer months just to remove dust etc not thick caked on mud
What kind of bike stand do you use in this video? Robust and durable construction? Looks great!
Lol for ages I've been using the regular muc off bottle half diluted with water as my trail cleaner, I guess this is the same?
Was thinking exactly the same

NallePu83 😆
@@RobRidesEMTB You would not do it same With a car :D
NallePu83 True! But my car also doesn’t travel miles through forest, mountain and trails, get crashed bashed, jumped and dropped like my bike!!
pretty good for on the go

The problem is I'm not carrying a bottle of this and a bunch of microfiber towels "on the go", and if I'm at home I have a hose that seems better.
Which support do you use to hold the bike ? I like it
Beautiful camera work Rob - what gear do you use?
Thanks. I just got the Fuji XT3 and am now using it for video and photos to save me carrying 2 cameras 👍

How did the brakes go after spraying this on the discs and not being able to wash it off? cheers
Didn’t even notice any difference to be honest 👍
Flannel and a bit of water for me
Did you allready put a foam behind the motor for mud and water protection?

This is like soaking your cloth in mud, and then send for dry clean.
Rob, is that the current Fox Attack Pro Fire Jacket?
Is it any good and worth the $$$ ?
Thanks!

Looks like muc offs standard wash just watered down
I have big cans with consecrate I water down to the spray bottle. I prefer that.
thats for Road bikes, not fully dirt enduro bike
this is silly, the proper way is to put cleaner on, then wash brush & hose off then dry with cloth. I take my bike in the shower.

Fuji XT3
Totally not worth the inflated price in my opinion.
maybe only good for commuter ebikes after getting to work? no way any good on our big emtbs
What a waste of money, it doesn't do as good a job as a bit of water & a sponge......no thanks.
Not as good as rhino goo 😎
Tbh you waste your time cleaning the wheels
