Of the hundreds of teen comedies that came out in the late 90s/early 00s, this will always stand head and shoulders above the rest for me. It’s well-written, witty, charming, and didn’t need a bunch of nudity or gratuitous sex scenes to make its point.
I agree with you. When I am looking for a good romantic comedy, this is one of my top picks, along with Ever After, The Princess Bride, Shakespeare in Love and Beauty and the Beast.
@@notsojolly6550 In Hollywood it means that though. And look at how Julia looked in “Hustlers”. I wouldn’t call that “amazing” even for a forty year old.
@@edhcb9359 Just look at female singers from the balkans aka south-eastern europe, like let's say Romanian singers Inna or Iacobescu Antonia for example. Or how about latin america. Any Hollywood she-star would band over and kiss herself to look like one of them.
Kat Stratford would always be the one to me who did a number on the Legend Heath Ledger. Boy they had something going on and gives me chills whenever again I see this movie
I've said this many times, this is the type of movie John Hughes would make. just like Easy A and Mean Girls. These movies have John Hughes vibes all over them.
Definitely a underrated movie! Because this movie was great and heath ledger, and Julia Stiles were both awesome in it! It has everything you could want in a movie love ,comedy ,daily life problems, and more just a great movie! Rest in peace, heath, ledger👍🏼🤩❤️
I love her hair and the way it curls. Yeah and she's so charming the bi-panic was so bad whenever she and Heath shared a scene. Mostly that dancing scene that was it for me I couldn't stop replaying it.
I just watched this movie, I was afraid the movie would try to "fix her" and get rid of all her beliefs, hobbies, etc. I'm so glad the movie didn't do that and she got to be herself while also finding a man who understood her. Good
I would argue that Kat was not the typical angry antagonist that people may have been led to believe. Sure she was moody and angry but she had a reason to be with what happened between her and Joey. Plus now the same guy was now chasing her own sister who reciprocated the same interest. Bianca was the real villain for the reasons below; 1) She knew Cameron was into her during the first French lesson and used him to get Kat to date so that she could date Joey (thereby taking advantage of Cameron). 2) Kat did Bianca a massive favour by agreeing to go to the party. Then when Kat tries to talk to her while she was with Joey, Bianca outright says in front of people that she doesn’t want Kat to talk to her. She was extremely ungrateful that Kat helped her out. If I were Kat, I’d tell her to enjoy the party because it’s the last social event she’ll be attending. 3) Bianca didn’t try to help her sister after seeing Kat dance drunk on the table at the party. She probably knew Patrick was there taking care of her but Kat barely knew Patrick. She chose not to leave with Kat and Patrick and make sure Kat got home to bed safely. Bianca did transform into a better person during the course of the movie. But Kat was a sympathetic antagonist whereas Bianca was manipulative and mean at the beginning of the movie.
Agree. Some people just see the surface of the characters, Kat is "rude"...but more than that she was missundertood for being honest and say things as they are..meanwhile the others, as her sister Bianca tried to appeal to everyone saying and doing whatever it took, she was mean and manipulative almost all the movie.
WHEN SHE CALL OUT THE MYSOGYNIE THE WAYYY I SCREAM IT MAKE MEEE SOO HAPPY WHZN I SAW THE MOVIE FOR THE FIRST TIME SHE WAS SUCHH A GREAT ACTRESS I WISH SHE GOTTEN IN BIGGER MOVIE BUT MAYBE THAT WAS HER CHOICE
Anyone quoting the marxist Simone de Beauvoir is NOT an icon. She hurt all men all around her because ONE hurt her... geez! I like the movie, I like her character... but she was awfully wrong and needed to be set straight, like the character of Shakespeare’s play who at least was just crazy, not a marxist hypocrite.
Well, I kind of agree...except that in the original Shakespeare play she wasn't really crazy, she just refused to settle for any man who treated her less than an equal and basically developed a reputation for having major anger management issues. Then Patrucio tricked her into falling in love with him by treating her the way she wanted to be treated, but as soon as they got married he dropped the facade and became extremely abusive to her till he finally brainwashed her into being unerringly obedient. Definitely glad they never made an accurate film depiction of the original play (although the one with Elizabeth Taylor was pretty close). It would not do well in theaters. Lol
How could anyone possibly hate this movie? Julia and Heath had better chemistry than my science textbooks.
Wow
But what they really hate about it is that they don't hate it. Not even a little bit, not even at all.
That ‘get out of my class’ was personal 😭

If you dont mind, could you give some examples. Ive been tryin to watch more old school teen movies😊
Its becuase its Shakespeare. And his stories have certainly stood the test of time.
Hey do not knock the gratuitous nude scenes LOL

Julia Stiles should have been a bigger star in Hollywood.
She would have been if she hadn’t let her looks go.
@@edhcb9359she still looks amazing for a 40 year old. Not looking like your 18 year old self for the rest of your life doesn’t mean you’ve “let go”
@@notsojolly6550 In Hollywood it means that though. And look at how Julia looked in “Hustlers”. I wouldn’t call that “amazing” even for a forty year old.
