I think it's hilarious that SO fine is basically ELVIRA with different words!!I get a kick out of watching old footage of these guys, they don't deviate much from appearance to appearance, depending on the decade.
Their appearance doesn't change much over the years, but it is kinda funny how there is an appearance deviation between the members themselves. Most in suits with a clean look, but one long-bearded mountain man. One of these things is not like the other LOL
Even by then they had been together for a long LONG time. Granted, their style changed a bit. Though I think they've gone back to their roots somewhat in recent years.
@@momusicfan Yeah, they're all hangin' in there for sure. I was sad when they started losing members for a time, but am happy the four are all back together as we knew them.
"That beard" is meticulously clean. I have seen the Oaks 100s of times and each time it looks like it was just shampooed just minutes earlier. Both Golden's hair and beard are always clean.
@@debbiemaddox9360 How'd you like to wash, dry and maintain all that hair? I wouldn't. But then again, Crystal Gayle has just as much much hair on her head as he does, just minus the beard.
The Oaks heard Johnny didn't like talking with groups. They told him that they'd prefer to do another song rather than sitting on the couch. Johnny respected that, and my understanding is they were essentially always green lit when they'd ask to be on.
@@sgmad1167 Carson's show was 90 minutes for most of its run. He had more time to spend with the guests. Sometimes a guest singer would do a song, then come sit and talk with Johnny--and then he'd get up and do another song.
This was a while ago wasn't it :) I keep saying this, but I think the ORB should record "Would You Go With Me" from Josh Turner. Check it out and then tell if you agree
They acknowledged that So Fine was somewhat of an embarrassing error. I totally love the song though but it didn't do too well as a single. Perhaps their producer thought it was a good idea.
Rest in Peace, Joe. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
ALS ‘ 😢
Joe, Duane, William Lee, and Richard. The best of the best. 40 years of greatness.
Love how Richard in his white suit strikes a Saturday Night Fever pose every time his part comes around!
Lol. Enough vibrato to throw a cat through. Sweet line. Gorgeous voice.

Looked it up, and listed to both original songs, so fine was changed to sound like Elvira for some reason.

@@k1productions87 But then one or another would go through a dirtbag-looking phase. First it was Bonsall. And then it was Sterbin.
WLG IS GORGEOUS 😍
seeing them so much younger now that the end is near...love ya!
May 13, 1982....now they are in The Country Music Hall of Fame. Thanks for posting this great clip.

love the boys

Whats strange is we never hear the same accusation of being dirty about men or women with a lot of hair on top of their head
Golden was so much younger and better looking without the beard. He is not attractive anymore. Sad!

William Golden . 💕
@@debbiemaddox9360Yeah, he is a handsome guy, you just can’t see it behind the hair but it is his choice. 👍
"He's got a vibrato you can throw a cat thru" lol. That's hilarious
THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING!!!
That is my favorite song of there's. I like the way they do the song
what a fun song..thanks!! such huge hair, too
Awesome
Oh Joe . . love the hair!
They are better without the horns. Superb vocals as usual.
William Lee was in his early 40s in this video.
I didn't know Grizzly Adams was in the band?
Gods ...grizzly addams...don't u mean gentle Ben???
@@ernestinemaloy8680 lol, gentle ben was the bear 🐻 .
I named my daughter after this song
I've never seen an act perform two songs on the Tonight Show before. I guess if you can get them both done in under 5 minutes you could, eh.

Is this where Golden wanted to wear a coyote on his head and Duane refused to allow him?
3:52 - George Zimmerman of The Men's Warehouse on saxophone!
Actually Dewey Derough who now plays Las Vegas
Better than George Zimmerman of Trayvon Martin fame.
@Takaheemuranastope yes,& i'd like to hear them do vince song,"Go rest high on that mtn. God be with U & URS.
@RocketScientistCarol yeah & the bass is good too,lol take care,God be with U & URS.
Very close to the Elvira song. Especially at the beginning.
RIP Joe Bonsall

why does this thing sound like “elvira”
Brian Capps I’m not sure but maybe they have the same writer?
@@terri5757 Kix Brooks wrote Bobbie Sue. Dallas Frazier wrote Elvira way back in 1966.
And, yes, that is Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn fame.
Will Streett thank you! I would have never guessed, but Kix is a great writer😁

Yep. I saw this that night. Cringed. But Elvira made up for it.
I wonder how many fleas, tics and cooties are in that beard?
Lame... If you are still alive, can you go ahead and delete this post?
