Maybe its much of a stretch, but lately im finding it very similar to hiza guruma, both rely heavily on the kuzishi from the hands and use the leg to roll the dude over instead of the hip, any thoughts on this??
My sensei said hiza and ashi garuma are similar. The key is the wheeling motion. To me, tai otoshi is much more reliant on the hands than the legs and involves more of a downward than a wheeling motion.
@@jasonrose6288I would agree with your sensei. Ashi means foot and hiza means knee. "Garuma" is wheel. So "foot wheel" and "knee wheel." Tai otoshi is a completely different animal. I never mastered a true Tai otoshi but I had a decent seo-otoshi. Won a lot of tournaments back in the day with that.
