Thanks for the video! I'm the Hatch Catch guy - I appreciate you sharing it around!
Thank's for your videos
Now I can keep my hatch open while camping without disconnecting the battery which is not a particularly good solution. I drained my battery several times doing this before I found out what was happening. I have a really cool domed canopy that sits on top of the hatch and keeps you out of the sun and rain. Can use it again without draining the battery. Thanks. Have a 2015 Outback 2.4 si
Maybe seeds for another cla😢ss action lawsuit? My theory is Subaru has some cultural dysfunction. Could be an electrical system engineering FMEA gap, or product validation gap, plus a sluggish field experience feedback channel... Sad that so many of my fixes were driven by class action lawsuits.
Thanks. I never realized the hatch being open used energy.
It a huge design flaw
My understanding is this is a power lift gate problem they fixed. I don't have the fix... Not warranty
Does the hatch catch work on a 2023 forester?
I believe so. I will do a test as soon as I get a used 23 in stock to see. I found it on Etsy. He was very responsive to questions. I would recommend contacting him to see. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Would a $2 carabiner work the same as the $20 Hatch Catch? Getting ready to go camping in my 2012 Forester.
It will not work the same on the newer models. I am not sure on the older models. My guess is that the hatch catch or the carabiner will not work. The older models power tailgates were and continue to be a big pain for us
Interesting. Where is this 4 amps being used when the tailgate is open?
No clue why it does this. Sorry for the delay. You comment got lost in my system
Any idea if this works or is needed if I dont have power lift on my 2020 Subaru Outback? Planning to car camp and looking at hatch tents, but worried w/out open button/power lift. I wont be able to get hatch catch out….
If you don't have the power lift gate, the dashboard does not power up. (Confirmed on 2019 outback base model).
I have a 2013 Outback, do I need to use this hack for car camping or is turning off the lights enough? I don't believe I have a power tailgate. Thanks!
As far as I know if you don't have a power tailgate you should be good. Just make sure you turn all the dome lights off. There will be a very small power draw from the open door light but it will be very small
@@scsubaruschoolwithevan thank you!
I can imagine forgetting a used the hatch catch and driving with the hatch open by an inch. Would I hear the road noise through the hatch if I the radio that always turns itself on when I start the car was masking the sound? This has happened to any hatch catch users?
I just want a firmware update in my 2019 outback. Keeping the dashboard powered up when the hatch is open for a door is open well the engine is off then nobody's sitting in the driver's seat seems needless and pointless.
Does the hatch catch only work on Subarus? I have a Rav 4.
Good question. As far as I know Subaru is the only manufacture with this defect in the design of the power tailgate. I have only worked for Subaru so I am not familiar with other brands and how they work
I hope the 🏄♀️ Surf’s Up
I don’t think any other manufacturer has a design defect like this. It’s a SAFETY ISSUE! Ridiculous! My hatch opened on its own on several occasions overnight and my battery went dead. My keys were hanging up on a hook and I let my dog out after I hung up my keys so I absolutely know it was not my fault.
Curious... if you put your keys in a foil bag, or out of range, does this still happen? Also, are both keys hung up, or is the other key somewhere else?
