TOP trip! thanks for sharing it. such a privilege to visit these remote places, plus you strung it out! Waitaha gorges/ Ivory/ out Tuke was 7 back in 2008 for us…. still rate it as one of my best excursions.
A big loop well executed, keeping on moving is the essence, well done. Your food would have been running low? Any more, yes, your names, and are you coasters?
We are actually based in Nelson at the moment but we love coming to the West Coast for big adventures! This trip was pretty well planned so we rationed food really well, could have maybe done with a few more snacks in between main meals...
The most direct route to Ivory Lake is up the Waitaha River. I believe its marked some of the way, but not all of it. It is still about a 5 day trip in and out and quite a challenging route still.
Monumental trip. Taking in all the sights!
