Nice! Oil based is definitely needed on old woodwork, especially sash windows - otherwise they bind up and stick etc.. the painting game is changing though and not for the better!!

I agree its not good the new paints but while I have access to oil base paints I will continue to use it as its 50x superior but I must also use the latex paints so I use the latex on the frames and oil on the windows, win win

I looked at the directions and it doesn't mention the water based enamel then sometimes you say you did it and other times you don't haha.
Did you use it first then oil based undercoat then the rest? Thanks

Looking good mate. Water based is becoming more popular here in the UK but I don't like it at all. It just doesn't have the same durability and finish as oil

Looks great mate. Just curious why you wouldn’t mask up and spray these?

They could have been done either way but I just decided to brush and roll because I like to force the paint into these old doors. I'm old school and only use the spray when I feel its gonna be quicker and better.

Hi ThePa1nter, I've been restoring the windows on my 1930s queenslander and have not had much look with the water based gloss paint when reinstalling the casement windows. The paint seems to pick off when they are re-installed. Will defs have to try this method. Any tips on cleaning up paint off old Arctic/Cathedral glass ?

Hi, glad you got some good information from this video, it is possible you can apply one coat full gloss oil based enamel over your finished water base. Sorry I don't realy know any shortcuts to getting the paint off rough cast glass.
