  • Let's take a tour around Torrens Vale, South Australia.
Back in the Old Days it was known as "Dairy Flat".
I went on a history tour of old homestead ruins and church ruins and old cemeteries dating back to the 1800's. Many families in the district have lived for generations and some still work the farms their forefathers and mothers settled at. Many are now just ruins of stones on the dirt, but the stories are still relevant and need to be shared. Our guide "Nigel" is a local, born and bred in the district, with happy memories and relevant historical information that he willingly shared. I visited old cemeteries with gravestones and old churches built in stone and old homes built in stone. If Only the Stones could Talk.

Also wish I knew how to lay stones, I’d build a stone cabin because it’s fascinating how the stones were laid to build a home. I just loved it all.😀

Hi, it was fantastic, no they don’t do it often. It’s a members thing. I’ll be detecting some of the ruins. I mostly do history detecting of ruins so it’s always nice to go see and learn more each time. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😀
