An incredibly Beautiful song. I discovered Blue Rodeo in 2006 on XM Radio and heard "5 Days in May" and have been a big fan ever since. I live Maryland and I am originally from Texas. Me, my wife & 8 yr old grandson have seen them 3 times so far. They are great guys and wonderful to talk to after the shows. There is so much great Canadian music I have found as a result of them and I wish America knew what they were missing from this great land above us!
I see them at least twice a year if possible. Once near Buffalo each summer and then a road trip into Canada. This American loves this band and I have ever since Outskirts
As usual another beautiful interpretation of lyrics that haunt the soul. This man's voice transcends air, it just calms and energizes at the same time. I believe he is one of the best voices in the world.
This song makes me think of the horrible husband I have been to my wife. I have asked her so many times to run for the hills, yet she sticks around, waiting for me to be better. I wish she would pull herself from this mess and find true happiness. Thank you Jim for nailing this song. Love BR.
I am writing this without looking anything up - But as a Canadian all I can say is that these guys have ALWAYS sung these songs. They are just some of the good guys. Period.
Jim looking tired. He's Human. That can never take away from his voice. I Will never get tired of him or Greg or Blue Rodeo, They have their mark on the world We are blessed to have the experience.
I'll be seeing these fine gentlemen for the first time in two weeks. I'll cry like a child, I know that already. Their music has helped to heal my heart over the years.
Met him 20 years ago in Mt.clemons Mi. My daughter was 9 and loved the music...not only does he have a beautiful voice, he talked to us for quite a long time..he was so kind.a wonderful human being...a cherished memory...I love Canadians too...Karen
I've seen Jim Cuddy perform live 4 times. Like a fine wine....he gets better with age. He has a rare gift and Canadians are very lucky to call him one of our own. He makes it seem effortless.
This is one of the so many beautiful songs by this band..and the video is astounding,,I swear I see a tear in his left eye and Greg Keeler keeping his eyes on him...like he could barley get through this.. He did.a masterpiece...kate
This is MY prayer for tonight ...and as I look up to my faithful starz above I know they feel my pain & sadness as I know they will NEVER LEAVE my sight ....For THEY know how much I MISSED YOU "one last light left in heaven"...
Saw them last night in Halifax - as usual, they gave back every bit of themselves to the crowd. Halifax loves Blue Rodeo - this song,,,, oh my.. One Light Left in Heaven - thanks Blue Rodeo for another fantastic concert, This is my 6th Blue Rodeo concert and I have never been disappointed.
Just got back from Blue Rodeo concert in Edmonton. I've seen BR a number of times from the very beginning .But this was the first in a few years. They still rock the house and I just can't stop my feet from dancing along with them. When I first heard this song I thought nothing could be more beautiful for Jim's voice. But tonight when he did the acoustic with Colin Cripps it was truly amazing. The silence of the audience just enhanced the whole experience. They are a gift from Canada to the world.
Mr. Cuddy, Thank you so much for writing this song.. It reminds me of the two most important people I held so dearly in my life - My Parents, Who recently past away 22 months apart from one another. Ever since the "5 days in May" Album was released, I had become a huge fan of yours. Discovering this song had truly added my admiration to you and Blue Rodeo. Two huge thumbs way up! Thanks, William :)
Blue Rodeo is one of the best bands Canada has ever produced. Jim Cuddy has one of the greatest voices in the business. Just saw them live a few nights ago in Kingston, third time I've seen them. They seem better every time, definitely one of the best live bands I have ever seen, their music makes you feel good.
+1600362 I can't speak for everyone in the States but I think Blue Rodeo is an awesome band. Recently purchased their "Live at Massey Hall" CD and can't stop listening to it. "5 Days in May" is as good as it gets when it comes to live performances. I know if they would tour the States I would be there. Blue Rodeo is a Canadian treasure.
+1600362 Speaking for one person in the U.S. While I wish for their sake they were more popular in the U.S. it's worked out pretty well for those of us here who have discovered them. I've been a fan for years and have been fortunate enough to see them in a number of bars and more intimate venues. Don't mind road tripping to see them either -- love visiting Canada!
This song, just kinda tugs on your soul, until you bleed tears....but are they tears of sadness, or just plain tears brought on by the sheer beauty of it? I still don't know.
Jim Cuddy, you are a special person who makes music enjoyable to listen too... it's a pleasure to have met you and wish you and your family all the best.. Truly an amazing person & artist of todays time & one of the most beautiful voices i have heard.. A gift to the world..
Saw them last night in Sudbury Ont. I have been to alot of Concerts of various Genres. If i may be so bold as to say i have never been so emotionally moved as I was by these amazing musicians. Thank You so much for sharing your Spirits. Canandian Talent and Genuinely Good People.
Beautiful tune and America would embrace it so much, but they go unnoticed down here. It's a shame, though I have been trying to enlighten people to their music. I recently posted this video on Facebook and have gotten great responses. I've sent their CD's & DVD's to Texas, to my family & friends. They don't know what they're missing. It's not at all like mainstream American country, it's so much better!
I knew all of the original band when no one knew who they were here in the East Coast,,,, Jim is a most amazing song writer, his son is actually performing now too,,,,,,, Gregg, Jim's long time partner had been sick and had to back off the scene, so Jim has had a very successful solo career the lat couple years. Basil, is an original! Jim is simply put, a superb human being.
Beautiful song. Jim's vocals are so smooth and touching. Love this song. The guitar work is fantastic. Love the lyriics too as I do in most Blue Rodeo songs.
She left one helluva distance..And one Helluva wait after Going Through What She......Sigh...This Group has some of the best music if ya like to reminisce on old wounds...
Back at Ya'! There are so many fantastic tunes of theirs and they continue to grow into one of the most incredible bands of our time. I wish I lived in Canada and could here their music on local radio. I also would prefer cooler temperatures and shorter summers. I know it sounds odd, but that's how I feel!
I have agree Isaw him this summer at the Edmonton Folk Music Fest. He was on main stage for about an houir and a half We Have a very gifted person and he from Canada
Jim's got a great story behind all his songs, I wonder what his story is to go with this song. I went to see him last night here in St. John's Newfoundland. i'm still buzzing it was Amazing :)))

19 years ago I was invited to see them live. At that time I had the wrong priority. I missed an opportunity then. THIS is REAL Music!
INCREDIBLE, on Jim Cuddy could give this song the emotion it needs. His voice is a symphony unto its' own. Beautiful.
As usual another beautiful interpretation of lyrics that haunt the soul.
This man's voice transcends air, it just calms and energizes at the same time. I believe he is one of the best voices in the world.

A song that expresses how much loss and confusion there is related with love.
Shades of Dougie Maclean and Shania Twain, not that you need to...beautiful composition, simply beautiful. thank you.

I so loved this song and the lyrics add a warmth to my soul. I entered a poetry contest where this was the prompt and I won the gold trophy. I wanted to share it with you!One Way ... lyricsI saw the light you mentioned,
Heard the darkness that remained
Sensed the essence of believing
That we'll never be the same!
And I've walked those floors of sadness
And was glad to see the dawn
When my sighs and indecision
Could re-vision and move on!
Yet another day was wasted
While the chase just lingered long
Still I felt my heart a beatin'
While you sang your lonesome song.
Chorus:
One way two hearts keep on dreamin'
One way for that road must not end ... ...
One way still that light keeps on beamin'
One way don't forget me as friend.
As Seasons call time to attention
And those days roll on by through the years
I'll be watchin' for you in the shadows
While the moon sheds some light on old tears.
Chorus:
One way two hearts keep on dreamin'
One way for that road must not end ... ...
One way still that light keeps on beamin'
One way don't forget me as friend.
I saw the light you mentioned,
Heard the darkness that remained
Sensed the essence of believing
That we'll never be the same!
repeat and fade ... ... ...
