    I am super satisfied with the bar capsules. I provided a link in the description to where you can get the scale and the capsules. The larger the quantity the cheaper the per-unit cost for the capsules. Do you guys put your coins/bars into capsules? Let me know what you guys think of this storage method.

      I’m pretty sure I left mine in the plastic for the 10oz but now that I think of it, the bars would look kind of baller in the capsules

    Male and female parts are opposite of what you said IMO. The bottom capsule with the bar in it went into the top capsule. Great video, love those 10 ounce bars.

    At a coin show, I took a survey of a dozen dealers, asking if they'd prefer to buy fractional gold from me in capsules (which I wanted to put them in) or the mint packaging. All of them, 100%, said they'd pay a little more if it was still in the mint packaging. I love metals in capsules for the handling aspects. I think they look nicer too. However, after that day, I stopped putting anything that came in sealed mint packaging into capsules. Now, if I bought something that came out of a tube and went straight into a flip at the shop - those I'd do capsules for if it suited me.

    I like capsules for special, rare, or collectible pieces, and those 10 oz bars are gorgeous. For bulk silver I wouldn’t do capules. And if it ships to me in a capsule, i usually just leave it in there

    I too have a couple of the RCM and bought the exact same capsules from On Fire Guy.
    Yes they're much better than the mint plastic.

OnFireGuy ROCKS - that's who I got mine from. Thanks for providing that size chart. They are tight, but I like that! Pristine pressed bars I always encapsulate because they are literally like mirrors. The RCMs are a bit more forgiving with the matte finish but they still fall into the encapsulate category for me. Bars like the Brittannia and Pamp Fortuna even more so. I know they are just bullion but if you ever resell, buyers just prefer a nice mirror finish. With cast and vintage bars I don't dare encapsulate. I love my Englehards to be scruffy as can be and to tone. That's my two cents worth of silver 😂 great video

    I just bought a Royal Mint Una And the Lion 10 oz bar and it was delivered in flimsy plastic. I prefer my 10 oz bars in air tites. I could find absolutely nowhere in the UK that supplies capsules for 10 oz bars. I had to send away to OnFire Guy in the USA. I bought 2 for about $8.00. After postage and import taxes the total came to about $30.00. Or £25.00. Very expensive but still worth it to me to protect my 10 ounce bars. I think its really cheap of the mints not to supply air tites instead of the cheap plastic packaging..

      Boston Stacker naw, when I stacked silver more I never did. I liquidated a lot of that and In the beginning of the year I focused a lot on silver dollars and 90% silver US coinage. Once Corona hit and my LCS closed down I started to turn more to gold and bought from a few online dealers. Went one last time to my LCS when he opened back up in early June and he changed his pricing on halves, quarters, and dimes. In the past it all was the same price, now he charges different premiums. So turned me sour to that and am just focusing on gold coins and bullion. Still gonna keep the 90% but moving forward been in the gold buying. Lol. So that’s a long way of saying, I don’t really buy it now, but when I did I never would keep it in the plastic nor would I encase it. The only one I have currently is a 2020 Year of the Rat Royal Mint Silver Rat that came encapsulated. But I would say, you encapsulating the RCM bars is a very good idea. They are more of a premium bar and I wouldn’t want them tarnishing fully as if you were holding them. :)

    Also in the "it's just bullion" camp! RCM does have some bullion coins which can gain in value and get over spot price (each year a special limited time design) and these might be worth protecting, but I don't think it's ever going to go as high as others such as the Lunar Australian series I think it was. But even these limited RCM coins, in the end, you're likely to sell them also at just spot price, as finding a buyer who'll pay more than that could be a challenge.
    So yeah, just keep your silver as you like! :) If it's capsules to keep it nice and pretty, or just stack and handle it without care, it's all good. Just don't expect extra $ because they're pretty when it's time to sell!

    I have the RCM 10 oz bars, it has been my go to bar for many years. I don’t purchase coins, or special items as the most efficient and cost effective way to save/store/stack silver is by owning bars. I don’t mess with anything below 10 oz, but do purchase/hold on to larger issues. I’ve said all that to emphasize one point, “value for money spent” is the name of the stacker / investor game. The plastic sheath the original RCM bars come in are designed to prevent the ham-handed handlers from scratching & causing minor edge denting during transport & storage. They are fine for that because at a certain level, it’s about just storing them. What’s more, is that in their original sleeve they are considered “OEM” or original & untouched from the factory, so to speak. I don’t believe buying a hard shell adds value, just cost and is contrary to my value for money spent philosophy. Final point, look at the price for any Johnson Matthey or Engelhard bar. They all sell for a premium, albeit due to several factors (scarcity being one) but in their weathered state.
    For me, buy a quality bar and store it in its original issue sleeve for the best ROI.

    what size of capsule did you use for the RCM 10oz bar? The bar is 52mm X 90mm X 7mm and did you get the capsule with the exact same dimensions or slightly different? Thanks!

    Prices have got up for those capsules, they are $5-$8 a piece now. Way too much for a plastic case that cost 5-10 cents to make, Its acrylic, the cheapest plastic there is.

    Add the cost of the capsule to what you bought the bar for, spot has to go up that much more for you to get a return on investment. Coins, maybe. Bullion, never.

    • @bostonstacker6811
      @bostonstacker6811  3 года назад +2

      It's easy for these 10oz bars. I agree if you capsule small value things such as 1oz generic bars it will take spot to go up quite a bit to get the return on that. But if it's a 1oz gold bar then I think it will be quicker to reach breakeven. Thanks for watching.
