      Not a collector AT ALL!
If the kurgger is cheapest premium..... sign me up! God's money is God's money. It doesn't matter what country put their stamp on it.
Paying less for a maple stamp on .9999 Au is much better than paying more for 99.9% gold with an eagle on it. As far as I'm concerned, I'll pay my bullion dealer $10 to scan my coins with an spectrometer proving their quality and then sell them privately. Gives the client peace regardless of eagle or maple or roo, bullion dealer makes money, and I make more money by by selling it just under the dealer premium.

DeNorris Johnson I think it’s because coins have higher premiums than bars, and silver has high premiums already. So you get hit three times by 1 oz of silver coin. You get charged more for just 1 oz, silver carries higher premiums, and coins carry higher premiums. I can be wrong though, but just what I understand from recent research

How come the 1oz Brittania gold (9999) wasn't on your list despite being produced by the British Royal Mint and is quite competitive when it comes to the lower premium most dealers charge as opposed to the Gold Maples, Gold US Buffalos, Phillharminics, Kangaroos, etc..?
3 of the 10 listings on your table happen to be from Canada!
Care to elaborate on why the gold US Eagle is placed at number 2 despite being taxable in some jurisdictions considering it's 22 carat, comes with a much higher premium compared to pure gold buffalos or other 24c pure gold 1oz coins from Europe, South Africa, Canada or Australia?

I note one factor that didn't fall within your criteria was that of govt issued legal tender gold and silver coins that have a face value considerably less than their intrinsic value. This has advantages when crossing international borders where one needs to declare to customs any 'cash' ( typically in excess of USD10,000 or equivalent in other currencies). Here a PM expert recounts his experience doing just this with 1ozt gold maples -YT (dot) com/watch?v=abpbMgAnzYw (skip to the 28:40 min mark)

@@xxterribleone1899xx When crossing international borders with legal tender gold or silver coins it may be prudent to just email customs of the country you are entering prior to travel to get on paper what exactly needs to be declared and what the 'cash' thresholds are. This email can then be shown to the clueless customs official at the airport should you be challenged. Below is the response I got from New Zealand Customs.

    • @bengmelea8646
      @bengmelea8646 4 года назад +1

Below I copy and Paste what NZ Customs informed me about taking into NZ "legal Tender" silver or gold coins. Note for other forms the fineness of the metal will determine if you are taxed.
There are three categories that the coins may fall within:

Coins that are used or circulated (or intended for use or circulation)
The coins are exempt GST. For Customs purposes they are considered to be “cash” (we do not use the term “legal tender”). If you import NZ$10,000 or more of these coins you are required to declare on your NZ Passenger Arrival card that you are bringing into New Zealand a total of NZ$10,000 or more in cash and will also be required to complete a Border Cash Report. I can confirm that all American Eagle coins fall into this category.

Coins that are not considered to be “cash” but meet the definition of fine metal
These coins are exempt GST and for Customs purposes are considered to be goods. If you import goods obtained overseas with a total value of NZ$700 or more, you are required to declare these on the NZ Passenger Arrival card.

Coins that are not considered to be “cash” and do not meet the definition of fine metal
These coins are subject to GST and for Customs purposes are considered to be goods. You have an allowance of NZ$700 which may be used for accompanied goods. If you import goods obtained overseas with a total value of NZ$700 or more, you are required to declare these on the NZ Passenger Arrival card.

For coins that are not considered to be “cash” and other goods that you import, a Customs value must be established. For valuation purposes, the primary method of valuing imported goods is known as the transaction value system. In simple terms this is generally the purchase price paid for the goods. If, for any particular reason, the transaction value method may not be used there are secondary methods for establishing values.
Gold bars, silver coins and silver shot are free of tariff duty.
Goods that are considered to be a “fine metal”, as defined in section 2 of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, are also exempt from GST.
The GST exemption for fine metal applies to:
      • Gold, in any form, being gold of a fineness of not less than 99.5 percent.
      • Silver, in any form, being silver of a fineness of not less than 99.9 percent.
      • Platinum, in any form, being platinum of a fineness of not less than 99.0 percent.

Based on the information supplied in your e-mail the gold bars at 99.99% purity and the silver shot of 99.99% purity will be exempt GST. The gold bars at 96.5% purity will be subject to GST.

Without knowing the purity of the silver coins I am unable to advise if the GST exemption applies.

It is a requirement to declare on your New Zealand Passenger Arrival Card if you are carrying a total of NZ$10,000 or more in cash. I have attached our Advice to Travellers brochure - page number 7 provides information as to what constitutes “cash” for the purposes of this requirement.

In addition to the requirement to declare cash, you must also declare if you are carrying goods obtained overseas (or purchased duty free in NZ) that have a value of more than NZ$700

Great list if you have $50,000+ to invest! One word that kept coming up was "liquidity". How liquid do you think a 1Kg gold bar is going to be at a gold spot of say $4,000? I'd much rather have that amount of gold in 1g Pamp bars right now. Yes, the premium is a bit higher (you can buy the pamp multigram cards for about $5-$7 over per gram), but your liquidity and versatility is MUCH higher if we ever experience a metals bull run anything similar to bitcoin's bull run of a few years ago!

I'd rather have a multi-ounce bar of gold, especially when it comes time to sell. One transaction, that's it. As times get desperate, how many times do you want to negotiate a large cash transaction before someone tries to rip you off ? One transaction in a secure location is less risk...
Now,... just need to figure out how to own a kg bar of solid gold, lol.

Thanks for responding. I agree with your recommendation. The place I buy gold eagles at usually charges $49 over spot and two over for silver eagles.
Because of what is going on now their premium for gold eagles is $170 over spot and silver eagles are $22 each.
That's all they sell is gold and silver.
I like because no limit on buying. Only thing is is if you spend less than $1500 you get taxed. That's common in good ol Cali.

if u want a good tip for the long haul. Once things settle down (provided they do) unload all the generic rounds and bars u bought before u lose money as the silver drops as fast as it rises unlike gold. The upside to bars is they are usually around 69 cents over spot and are good for a beginner to jump at. Later down the road u find out the buyback will be spot minus. There are many who bought in the last time silver took off and lost better than half of what they invested as silver went from sub 50.00 to sub 15.00 in a very short time.
ASE are good for buying into around 20.00 when things settle dow. Look, i bought in after the silver crash and started buying eagles at 16.00 Now i stay strictly to sovereign coins that will gain in value over the yrs due to numismatic value. I dont buy anything over 22.00 as that was where silver topped out for me. My cost average is around 18.00 Thats including generics like bars. Those i will sell if silver takes off. Britannias/maples w privys/queens beast are favorites.
Before all this happened recently several bullion sites had starter kits wher u could get 10 oz silver at spot. I would try to tell people at my page but never got much traffic.
Here u can still find an ounce of gold at spot. 10 1/10 oz gold eagles. everything else ther is overpriced.
