    This lovely video bought tears to my eyes, rekindled memories old, I was in my early twenties when I did a YHA weekend in the Lake District , and like yourself I made my way to Rydal Cave where amazingly the small sticklebacks were swimming around in the pool, it was around 1975 , not been back since and now 70 with disability and mobility issues, these type of walking and camping videos serve as a memory aid, When you are a young person old age seems a good way ahead, I had 23 years in my local Ramblers and YHA group, and went all over the midland shires walking, spent 40 years birdwatching from 1979 to 2018, taking me to some pretty nice places in the UK and further afield, met some amazing people, so like I say your videos and others serve as a wonderful memory of times past, just make sure you enjoy your life to the full, any regrets, only one and that is I never met such a pretty young lady such as yourself when I was out on my walks, I would have shared my Mars bar and Kendal mint cake with you , I was good looking back in those days, Thank you for sharing such a lovely video, now where did I put that box of tissues, Mike West Bromwich 👍👍👍

    Yes, a beautiful area. Went for a week, must have been 30 years ago, with three other people and stayed in a house right above Rydal Mount, Wordsworth's family home. Easy walk to Ambleside, the start of the Coffin Route was right at the bottom of the driveway. Went to the caves, which I think your video makes them look more spectacular than I thought they were (!), then left and walked up to Loughrigg. Great video, love the presentation. Have subscribed and looking forward to the next video. Thankyou.

Which was mentioned in title but I overlooked that😅 I had no idea England had this kind of nature as well, or that the Lake District is this big and rugged. Somehow I always pictured it differently and was probably thinking about the Peak District?

      Ahh ok haha, yes we have tons of ferns! The grow in the woodland as well as out on the fells - bracken is the most common.
      It's tolerated so long as you follow the full wild camping ethos ✨

    How did those caves form, water erosion?, how did the fish get in there 🤔 questions questions 🤔😊❤ happy 👣 ps, if u ever in the USA, visit badlands South Dakota, and priority Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico, Guadeloupe mountains into West Texas, to name a few! In August when the bats leave the cave at sunset 🌆🌇🙌😍👌

    • @FablesandFells
      @FablesandFells  Год назад

      Haha so the caves are actually a now disused small quarry from around 200 years ago. The fish, I'm not sure! The cave is situated high up from the lake and there's no running water into it.
      Thanks so much for the suggestions!

    • @FablesandFells
      @FablesandFells  Год назад

      Ahh thanks so much 😊 I like the Pelter Bridge car park start. You'll see the route easy enough from there up to the caves. Then it's worth doing the Loughrigg terrace route up to the top for a nice view. Back down the same way and then over the River Rothay Grasmere bridge into White Moss woods and then you cross back over just before Rydal water at park and walk along the side of Rydal water back to the car.

    Do you know there’s a 2nd cave?
    There’s a rope to climb up! Not as tourist friendly as the main cave, there’s a path near the slate pile, follow it down you’ll see it!

    Absolutely beautiful as always x

    • @FablesandFells
      @FablesandFells  2 года назад +2

      Thank you! Typically 4K 60fps. I can do 8K 24fps but those files are huge! I think for this video I used some of the ultra wide so FHD instead of 4K. I use the DJI Mimo app with my gimbal and it really limits the resolution for the self facing camera, which annoys me lol. So I'm still trying to figure out best thing for to-camera stuff.
