As others have said. Great video with superb knowledge to create a solution that I’m sure the customer is more than happy with as it keeps them on the road and you have the tools and the skills convincing me that there’s no controversy in these times. Keep it up Dave!
There is really nothing controversial about this, it was a solution to get the bike on the road when there were really no other options at the time. I am a retired technician and had to work around and mix and match parts to get machines to work when parts were not available. I always informed the clients and it was always their decision to go ahead with the repair. I also made sure to show what I did on the invoice with the approval of the client. Somehow I got more satisfaction in repairing the normally unrepairable machines.
First class diagnosis there. It would be great to see how you ascertain how bent the derailleur is and which way. Was it just eyeballs / trial and error? Also I love the new apron, IWOOT!
I've had some success bending my knackered NX Eagle derailleur back into shape after a few good whacks on rocks. I do have a couple questions: how much can there be free play on the derailleur mounting screw before it affects performance? It seems that there is quite a lot on my bike. How could that be fixed?
Hi Timo, Tricky one this because the higher end eagle rear mechs tend to wear much better than the cheaper ones, it also depends on if you have accidentally knocked it and how often without knowing, this wears them quickly too, the lower end like the SX are largely plastic, the pins are horrible for wear. There are so man y different factors why shifting might not be right, As far as maximum amount play goes I would guess that you will know when you move it around with your fingers.
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic I actually used to be a car mechanic and rode motocross and enduro back in the day. I feel there is a bit of excessive play in the mount. I recall you can buy the derailleur mounting screw separately, but really I do not think in my case it'll be worth my while. If I even can source one. Strange times we are living. I had to wait for 24 weeks for a Shimano hub axle, luckily I have 2 wheelsets and was able to ride. I have whacked the derailleur many a time into rocks. Hoping that it'll hold for a while, till replacements are available. I straightened it and the hanger a bit, seems to be shifting adequately. I heard that the new Eagle SX derailleurs have been improved, the first iteration was really pretty bad, it only had to see a rock and it broke. Dunno how the new ones are. Thanks for making these videos, very helpful. I'm loving them. I like learning new things.
Hi Adam, Thanks for watching, we have purchased parts from them before but since brexit they have capped uk order max £135.00 , an xg cassette is around 167 so were knackerd there as well.

What would cause chain skip/jump in the lower gears? I’ve replaced my chain and now I have jumping in bottom 3 or 4 gears. Thanks
Hi thanks for watching, thats because the new chain will not fit the cassette correctly, new cassette needed.
shimano 12 speed mechs work well also, another option if you can't get a sram one
"There are no problems, only solutions" 😁
Nice one there's more than one way to skin a 🐈😻
A up Dave ….got a question for ya …how the eck do you bed brakes in ? ..cheers mate ..love your show 👍

Nice one Dave don’t really understand how it works but it does 😬 What’s happened to your nose looks like a land sharks been at it 😂🐶
Nose, ears, fingers, slippers, anything she can get her paws on, Thanks for watching
de KCNC cassettes are not approved for E-Bikes so that probably caused the high wear
