More information about the video content bellow:
    1. First and foremost, Bermuda is not in the Caribbean. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 1030 km from the United States’ East Coast. Bermuda is a cluster of 181 islands. The islands of Bermuda are named after Juan de Bermúdez who claimed the islands for Spain in 1503, though he never actually landed there. Bermuda became a British colony in 1707. It is now the oldest and most populous remaining British Overseas Territory.
    2. Bermuda was settled by accident in 1609 after an English ship wrecked off the island’s shores.
    3. During the 1700s, the island did not have much natural resources to reap. What they did have though, is what the ocean provided, along with the sturdy cedar trees that grew all over the island. Therefore, it made sense then, that they turned to shipbuilding and privateering - or in other words, piracy. The Isle of Devils, as it was called, was a strategic location when ships would sail between England, Spain, and France, and the Caribbean and the New World (North America). Bermuda was famous for not only capturing merchant ships that made the mistake of sailing into the wrong local waters, but they also plundered all the way from Boston to the Turks Islands and Bahamas.
    4. The Bermuda Triangle, allegedly an area in the Atlantic of unexplained disasters or disappearances, was first mentioned in 1964.
    5. There is no public water system on Bermuda, as the island has no natural source of freshwater. Bermudians have to rely on rainfall to fill up their water tanks, greatly helped by the shape of their limestone roofs.
    6. At 53 km sq, Bermuda is about 10 times smaller than the island of Montreal, but is actually the third most densely populated place in the world, with a population per sq mile of about 3000 people. It also has one of the world's highest GDP per capita. There is no corporate income tax, making it a popular tax haven for the ultra wealthy.
    7. Hamilton is the capital of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda. It is the territory's financial centre and a major port and tourist destination. Its population of 1,010 is one of the smallest of any capital cities.

I had no idea Bermuda was a collection of islands. I thought it very strange a single island would be so far out in the Atlantic by itself. 😂

Fun fact about Bermuda, there were some local pirates who would burn a fire on top of a hill known as Wreck Hill. The fires were used to lure in ships to cause a wreck for the pirates to plunder. The only remaining pirate qualities in the locals are their affinities for rum. 😂

Great vid! However, there is a source of fresh water--groundwater, held in two lenses--which supplements rainwater collection during dry months (although it's insanely expensive, understandably).

There is? I didn't find that information. Wherever I looked it said there's no source of fresh water, other than rainfall. Thanks for this info!

Glad to help! It is true that there are no naturally occurring sources of fresh water on the surface, like lakes and rivers. But the groundwater is pumped up via wells and can be purchased via water trucks, usually to top off your rainwater if it’s running low/there has been draught.
Looking forward to checking out your other vids, they’re quite informative!

Thanks for your appreciation. About Bermuda though, I'm still amazed that it managed to develop so much and sustain so many people, only with groundwater and rainfall. I mean, where I live, we have a small lake nearby, one large river and 3 or 4 smaller streams, so I take water for granted. Relying only on a well and rain seems so unreal and difficult. Makes you think about the things we take for granted. Thanks again for your input!

Having lived with the system my whole life I don’t think much about it. But I definitely prefer it to relying on bottled water or the tap water I have had in North America. It tastes much better.
