    Nice long-term planning and tight walkthrough. Life finds a way. I think I might add some blue oysters to my runs. Nice thumbnail btw... loving AI for mush art. :)

    Ive done this with LC that was 2yrs old, and I thought I was pushing it, because I was told it only lasts like a year. But look at you, 4yrs and still viable. Theres soooo much in this hobby that Ive learned over the years just simply isnt true. This is one of them

      There’s never been a definitive expiration period on lc or agar.. those are best by dates.

    • @WhiteBeardHashtag1205
      @WhiteBeardHashtag1205 9 месяцев назад

      @@MB-sn8sf of course there hasnt, theres not just one type of agar or LC, and I would imagine those variables would change quite a bit, especially considering which cultigen theyre combined with.

    I saw a guy with a spore syring that was good at 7 years, he said they are good at least until 10 years. Just be sure to keep them in the fridge. Nice video!

      Yeah spore syringes last longer, this video is for liquid culture.

    Great long term experiment! And it's still on going, impressive!
    Assuming the syringe was refrigerated have you or will you experiment with the duration syringes kept at room temp? Waiting with fingers crossed

    I bought a couple liquid culture syringes from a shop yesterday that were a year old and left unrefrigerated. What should be my next step? I am curious why you chose to colonize using agar rather than a honey and water solution.

    that's very good info, I'm in the process of making my first ever LC and was hoping they can last for a long time, btw at what temp did you keep the LC for the past 4 years?

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  9 месяцев назад +1

      I just kept the syringe on a shelf in a room that fluctuated from 50F to 78F throughout the years. Mycelium is super resilient! Thanks for watching and good luck! 🍄

  • @ScottWConvid19

    This seems to be a better way to preserve mycelium than slants.
    What was your LC made up of?

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  9 месяцев назад +1

      Very well could be! It was made with corn syrup and water. The liquid was clear and had a tiny amount of mycelium in it.

    I wonder how long it will go. You should try every year to see how long it goes. If you wait 4 or 5 years more you won't know which year it stopped being viable.
