    I grew up in Kakuma even though I was born in Somalia. I left Kakuma 2003 and I never went back. I had tears in my eyes watching this video. I always pray to Allah to bless others what he blessed me and my family.

    I was in Kakuma from 2004-2016.
    Turkana are the strongest humans to live on earth. Friendly, I miss my friends. I swear only God knows what he put in your hearts to endure that cruel environment and living situation, 60 years of marginalization from the Central Gov. Of Kenya. Too sad😢☹️.
    I love Turkana.

    I didn’t know a single English word when I came to America in 2004 so The fact that they speak English is enough proof that they really are improving in kakuma

    As one of the people in this video, I am shocked reading comments which are completely out of context! Come guys no one is talking ill of anyone or any place... All are personal opinions. Peace!

      Ngachuro Esekon Kenya yes, but kukuma is mainly just camps. Really poor over there BUT if you leave kakuma and travel all of Kenya, it really is beautiful. Kakuma is mainly just land and dirt road. It’s whole intention was to make it a refugee camp so they never put that much effort into it as they did for other parts of Kenya

    You people are ungrateful. People been living there for decades, even-though there was nothing people were still grateful. The new refugee in Kakuma want everything handed them. Be thankful to the Kenyan government that’s allowing you guys to stay!

      Because the Kenyan were nice enough to help the Somali Bantus when the abuse from Somalians became too strong. If you don’t know the history, Bantus were sold to Somalians by the Arabs. Now they’re telling the Bantu people to go back home and are torturing them but the Bantu people don’t really know their history anymore due to the slavery. They lost their original language, culture, and religion. All they know is the Somalian culture and lifestyle but the Somalians don’t want to claim them anymore since slavery is over. Bantus are still being mistreated and face a lot of dangers living in Somalia so they fled to Kenya. Bless the Kenyan and Tanzanian government for being the only African countries to care about them. We’re all family

      Ngachuro Esekon as someone who was born in Kakuma, I can assure you that Kenya might have given us a place to stay but they did nothing else for us. Only the UN provided for us! The Kenyan government never came to check on us, they never helped us.

      Michael Majaliwa I don’t know any Bantus who aren’t grateful. I truly appreciate Kenya for what they did for my people. They and Tanzania were the only African countries to step in BUT Kakuma was awful. No clean water, no real houses, no food, no transportation. All I remember was starving and not having any clothes AND our roof coming off during a rain storm BUT at the very least, we were finally away from the abuse in Somalia so we really do thank you what your country has done. Also, when Somalians and Kenyans were fighting, many Bantus were forced to join the Kenyan military as a favor for letting us stay there

    • @EdgeAmir
      @EdgeAmir 5 лет назад +1

      Michael Majaliwa true indeed. People have no heart! I thank Kakuma for giving us the opportunity to stay there.
