well said, man. it's the subject, the content, but then mr guy himself, personality, way of talking and just... loved the energy in this too. people get too caught in the algo and the shoulds and have tos.
do what makes you happy and passionate and people will be drawn in. shorter vids don't always have to be shorter. BUT they are a lot like popcorn and also helpful for people with attention deficit. love when they are on point to the title and don't go all over the place and veer off. i can binge appropriately titled vids for hours. (when people go off topic or range too far.... it can sometimes make my attention drop off because maybe i was looking for something SPECIFIC and then i'll just look for the next vid that's ON that thing.)
for watchability i swear these hit like the old braille vids. and a lot of that has to do with vibe and personality. one of the guys has a solo channel and it's pretty damn watchable too. (ricky glaser. the blond long hair dude from AUS.) it's content but so much is the creator themselves. i've seen tons of skateboard channels and vids that i don't practically auto sub to. this channel got me within 3 pieces of popcorn, and only waited because i have a wide range of things i'm into and subbing easily means a gnarly long list and it's already WAY long. @concrete-waves so take my very selective sub, bro. 😃😁

I love this channel. Keep it up and don't stress about what "fits" on the channel. All the videos feel personal and i think they fill a gap in the conversation. Skateboarding is so much more than viral clips make it out to be. Maybe you can do some collabs with other youtube skaters in the future?

@@concrete-waves and it's a GREAT channel. coming in as a beginner but with super infodumping abilities, i have been bingewatching skateboard related vids both for how, and choosing boards but also parts. yours is one of the best channels just for like..... hell, i'd watch even if i wasn't into this topic. hope you find your footing and just have fun with this. i fully expect your channel to blow up even more. people just haven't found you yet. and i know i've mentioned braille a bunch of times... but with the recent, er... let's call it an event? a change? drama? end of an era? there are a lot of people who feel like they are out of a home. braille embodied that sense of community you're referring to. we got to SEE it, and feel it, even if we didn't have that locally. so any of that you could bring in for people.... they'll come. and even just as a solo guy making vids, it still gives community, just in a diff way. a cool dude talking about something he loves, keeping us engaged, and being someone we'd wanna be friends with in the real. it's a certain kind of magic. thank you for existing, and thank you for your channel.

I usually don't comment on RUclips videos but I'd like to share that for me, longboarding is a multitude of things: 1) It was an alternative to skateboarding since that was too difficult and technical for me. I just wanted to ride and chill. 2) It was a tool and medium to try new stuff and prove myself that I can do stuff that I sometimes think I can't. 3) It has saved me a lot of money in transportation. 4) It helps to keep me thin and active. I used to feel groggy all the time because I didn't do any type of exercise because it was kinda boring for me to do repeated movements just cause. 5) It helped me to connect with random people in the streets; skaters passing by, longboarders with pintails, double drops, even dudes in bicycles and motorcycles. Some just wave and keep going, others stop and ask stuff about my deck, bushings, etc.
Please keep doing what you're doing. Spread your message across the world bro and keep shredding.

that's so nice to hear. idk if i'll get into sk8 so much, as i don't feel a burning need to do tricks. sure, i wanna learn a couple, but a lot of what i wanna do is probably cruise, be outside, get some exercise time (having a variety of things you like to do and can pick from is helpful), and a lot of my actual hobbies are solo stuff and you don't meet people that way (like art, writing, learning music), so potential connections is nice. i'm really interested in longboarding, though staring out with a more standard skateboard. figured portability could be important. but also there are so many options for longboards that i feel like i need to watch a lot more things and see why certain shapes and setups could matter or don't. maybe by black fri sales i could get one. snagged this first board on a big labor day sale! a good all rounder by arbor pilsner that was way cheaper at this place. love the damn thing, so far. :D
i also saw some gorgeous arbor decks in person at a Zumiez. omg this one...... might qualify as a longboard. but again, idk about the shapes. also it was like a work of art, beautiful laquer and high quality, that sugar whatever grip so you aren't covering it with grip tape (and idk if that doesn't wear down. or pros/cons)

man i wish i had sidewalks around my place. they don't start for a while and it means i can't just go on foot or board or skate or bike easily. i don't like being in the road, esp with no extra room like a bike lane or large margin. and one part there's practically no room off in the grass either, just goes pretty much right into a ditch. and this road is just a little too busy to just shrug off and do the road. i don't wanna be in people's way, it annoys the hell out of me when people do that and you have to wait for a break in traffic to go around.
i'm starting late to skateboarding, too. but i just see a lot of potential on various fronts, like balance, more solid muscles and tendons and joints from skating, some posture stuff, some exercise. dunno if i'd find community but that'd be great. people seem kinda split up based on what you skate and how you skate. street and tricks vs cruising and stuff. cruising being seen as "not really skateboarding". but whatever, imma just have fun and see how stuff goes. hahaa the flying carpet. and i love that movie. best disney one imho.

'skateboarding as a tool to connect people' is a great way to put it. i had a friend asking if they should get their kids into skateboarding. i told them how i saw it as a great way for them to play outside, do sports, get artistic, and find what they love. it's not all counter-culture down by the river as it was seen 30 years ago... i mean you can... but more often from what i've seen is that its a community where people help and take pride in seeing others get better. so now at 8 years old my friends kid is dropping in without fear. amazing.

I am totally blown away with what you said …I have always enjoyed you post and looked forward too here and see your prospective on skateboarding or like you said a board with wheels.. I grew up in Hawaii, born and raised surfed all my life and skateboarding in the early 70s when clay wheels and Cadillac wheels was the thing I moved to Colorado 26 years ago and found myself yearning for something. I miss so much was the ocean sleepless nights stressful days at work starting to shape my own boards out of used lumber from the construction sites slapping on some wheels that I bought and tried to find the feeling. I felt when I was surfing paddle in the lakes to find that feeling but riding my wooden planks on wheels gives me closer to what I missed the most. I started skating a couple years ago carver skateboard that my wife bought me for Christmas at the age of 65 had some heavy duty crashes that didn’t stop me. I continue to skate at 66 skating skate park. I love that I love your perspective and skating talking too much now I was just in with this I love the flow I love the car I love the slide , and it’s great for your health and it does help me to release my stress.
