I heard that the USA dropped the ball and didn't communicate with him during a critical decision making period. Does the USA have a department that is dedicated to making dual nationals feel 'loved'? If not, why not? He's a young man. There's many things that can happen in the future to change his mind. We should put out the effort (someone at USMNT) to make sure these young people emotionally feel connected. I'm surprised that he wasn't romanced by our coaching staff or PR staff.
Good Interview Uncle Tac. I dont think there is another rivalry in soccer where they not only have to fight on the field, but out of the field as well like Mexico and USA
Honestly it takes away from and adds to the rivalry. It adds because of resentment that they could have played for your team but takes away a lot because your own players are playing against you
I love our rivalry with Mexico, feel like it's steel sharpening steel as time goes on. Concacaf definitely needs to keep getting better as a confederation. My heart goes out to these kids who have to choose between us and Mexico at such a young age. Best of luck no matter what Fidel! Choose the US once you get to the senior level though! Haha
Born in the U.S. and thinks all the sponsors in Mexico wont tell the coach to play only born Mexican nationals? Good luck, he will get push back and Mexico's coach will be persuaded not to put in dual nationals.
@@catfish452 haaa. Tell me of 2 players that are/where dual nationals and have played for the senior squad in Mexico? Jesus Ferrera and Peppi both played for the U.S. last year. Where's Mexico's? (Edited, Zendejas will be playing for the U.S. he's committed!) If your implying "everyone knows how things are here" as in racism hinders Mexican/Americans to play for the U.S. good luck living in that fake unrealistic bubble.
His heart is in the US, but his head is in Mexico. He made a wise short term business decision that could pay off if he doesn't get his big move to Europe. He could always sign a 3 year deal down in Mexico so his papa can watch him on Univision. There's nothing wrong with that. You gotta go where you're gonna play. We're so deep at certain positions, that anyone with additional eligibility should look at those options unless they're an exceptional player. He's only 17 and not getting regular pro minutes yet, so who knows how he'll play against grown men needing a paycheck to take care of their families. When it comes to these duel nats from Mex, we need red Kool aid drinking cultist that firmly believe that they are American, not mercenaries who's hearts may not be committed to sacrificing everything for their country of origin and national pride. We did that before under Klinsmann, and it failed miserably.
You can have a heart that loves both countries- both cultures and have zero compromise with how you sacrifice, compete. Nationalism is only 1 motivator, and even that isn't compromised. Any parent knows you can love 2 children in different ways with equal intensity. As well there are plenty of other wells to draw from on they field- pride in ones self, love pride of your team mates, passion for the sport, inherent competitive spirit, work ethic. In general players kind of have it or don't... those with strong competitive drive don't need much to get them going, will die trying to win ping-pong... will do so with club, country, in most any context.
Funny thing is Mexico doesn’t even like dual nationals. There’s a lot of hatred towards people not born in the country. The players might be cool but the fans don’t like it
@@AndrewLaReal Most fans are chill with it I believe, even with American and Argentinian guys in their squad. There are a few who like to keep it pure but I've never really met any. There are way more people who get pissed if a Mexican-American doesn't give their full loyalty to Mexico.
@@bluejayredemption6462 I don’t know man. I’ve seen the complete opposite. If we’re talking people in the states it’s not as bad, but people in México definitely don’t like it and openly hate Argentines

Who cares. I’ll worry if he’s a world class player and most likely he won’t be.
He probably grew up watching mexican soccer so he is going were his "heart" tells him too

Gotta love seeing Pulisic stand up for Gregg with all that Claudio Reyna nonsense
