Guilty Gear did the same thing after Happy Chaos came out. Instead of nerfing him too much, they changed and added mechanics. I think it's funny how games seem to emulate each other whether it's intentional or not.
No. In SF3 3S he was a glass canon and at least mid, if not top 8. He's always, also, been one of the strongest character overall throughout the entire series, next to Sagat and a handful of SF2 characters.

This makes me realize we are almost approaching one year of Street Fighter 6’s release and it’s clear how much Capcom has changed from its SF5 release to SF6. The road hasn’t been perfect but overall this game has made me the most happy for a Capcom fighting game in a long time and I cannot wait to see what Capcom has plan for season 2 in the future

From the playtests in Japan I believe that Denjin specifically replaces the heavy versions of the moves now, so you can still use the light and medium regular versions and maintain Denjin.

Tha major thing they want to show in this part is that the punish counter back throw in the corner now leave the characters much more far away, preventing a throw loop situation after a back throw in the corner

Not sure on when you'd want to DRC after the target combo, but more options don't hurt. I guess this means you can fish with HP without confirming a punish counter. It will also inevitably lead to different wakeup setups too so let's just hope whatever nerfs they did to Cammy aren't too bad. For now it's Akuma time anyway.
I wonder why someone would use that though? stHP xx DRC b.HK > 236HK > 623HK did the same job with possibly more damage and corner carry.
I'm curious about the applications. More varied combo routes overall in the game would be nice, especially for Cammy. A lot of her optimal routes are the same as week one when the game released.
@@Nyagro I've been thinking about it, her target combo's launch can save meter if you're looking to launch, there might be some more optimal combos at very specific meter usages lol s
@@Nyagro Well the new route might give better damage if you compare it to the typical punish counter HP > HP.Backfist etc since you would only get a DRC after a light (if you're using DRC). Maybe it will allow different wakeup setups too.
And worst case scenario, the last hit of the target combo being cancellable just lets you extend or be safe regardless of whether you intentionally or accidentally went into the target combo.
Drive rush cancel after target combo costs 2 drive bars. Trust.

@@venivediicommented4046She's going to get far less special meter gain off her juggle combos so that she can't hit you with lvl2 then build a big chunk of bar back to do it again before you hit the ground. I think that's what that clip was supposed to represent.

Someone said something about the B.HP in that clip being a new combo route that wasn't previously available, so either it starts up faster or the HP before it is more advantaged on hit.

This balance patch update looks promising.
It looks underwhelming for a yearly balance patch especially without any system changes except for drive reversal, The meta will stay the same because it relies on system mechanics.
I whish we didn't have to wait one whole year for simple character buffs and nerfs.
@@chebil_y4967 Agree. That is why for the first time i dont buy a SF game. Waiting 1 year for a big balance patch? No way! A patch each 6 months is ideal. And no Bison, Vega, Balrog, Urien, Poison, Rolento, Abigail, C.Viper. Sad, it is a no no for me.
@@LuttiApce they kept throw loops in the game because they were too lazy to change spacing and frame data for every character. The drive reversal on wake up is a bandaid fix for throw loops. Also a lot of the changes are completely out of touch. Characters got unnecessary nerfs and others that needed nerfs got none.

That Gief combo mah gawd. Snake Eyez combos just got more intense.
Snake has already said the HP buff is crap...since we already get a strong lvl 2 combo off of 5HK or wheelkick. Standing HP still has zero utility to us Gief mains.
@@anderszidane973 Broski did mention one possible use for buffed c.HP: It gives Gief a way to combo into L1 super after perfect parry (PP -> c.HP, Hellstab, L1 Super). S.hk won't connect after PP, allegedly, and Wheel Kick is too slow.
It's not the best but it's something, I guess.
I want Wheel Kick to have projectile invulnerability, personally.

@@anderszidane973I beg to disagree. We're seeing it combo into lvl2 from a grounded punish counter. Imagine the possibilities if it's landed as an anti-air.
C.HP always had a weird situation where 90% of the time it's easier and more reliable to simply use lariat as an anti-air. There's only specific scenarios where that extra vertical coverage is necessary, and the move is so slow to recover it never felt that good to land.
Now we can potentially use it as an enormous punish tool for things like dive-kicks or teleports. It's also faster than F-HK to start up, so it may open possibilities for big punish counters in the corner that we didn't have before.
Even if it's ultimately relatively niche, I really like that capcom has made changes that give people at least some sort of legitimate reason to use moves that you would otherwise almost never see.

The wake up drive reversal option should help him a lot, but could also hurt him a lot in certain matchups when he finally gets in. We'll see.

People who cry about wake up drive reversal, get a grip on reality. Its way better than getting throwlooped in the corner or getting demolished by some invincible bs. If you cry because you’re the one who wants to abuse throw loops, i’m happy that you’re sad.

Throw loops need to exist when parry is so strong but instead of making parry underwhelming to get rid of throw loops they made Drive Reversal more useful so we'll see how that works out

@@aledantih6524 You have like 30 frames at minimum to throw somebody out of parry for a punish counter. You don't need to be able to hit meaty throws for throws to still counter parry.
Most of my throw loops come from neutral jumps and jump-over baits anyway, that’s not really changing.
Loving the new Recovery Drive Reversal, basically an invincible reversal for everyone.

It's a really, REALLY bad defensive option. Drive Rev is 18 frame startup on wakeup, it's only going to beat the slowest of meaties.

He could always do that, but it looks to be faster now. Normally you could not Run Shoryuken an opponent out of OD Dragon Lash unless they were an elevated height from the start but it looks to be viable off target combo now closer to the ground

What annoys me most is his LVL2 super. I hope now it hits crouching opponents. It's a horrible wakeup option.
@@leemooreStudio idk it might be for the best that it stays that way...giving a character like vega or dhalsim consistent wakeup options means they have more chances to be consistent in other ways that may make them too strong.
@@TheFightingGentleman That won't make it consistent. It cost 2 bars, that's expensive for it to have such a weakness. So then it's only use is that it's an anti-air and a combo tool. It won't make him too strong since he's one of the weakest characters in the game.

Given that they show Ken using run dp from dragon lash and cr.mk it’s likely he probably won’t be able to combo into run tatsu as easily anymore. Potentially Jinrai kicks are getting major nerfs aswell. The Cammy and Jamie target combo changes are fairly significant as they look to increase corner carry. Juri has some reason to use her target combo however it doesn’t seem useful. Chun li lost her safe jump set up from her bnb. Kind of a shame since it was pretty interesting given she didn’t have a throw loop. Luke has much lower juggle potential from his charged knuckle lp version. Manon bk. hp now has natural juggle making it a situationally useful anti- air, as it looks like she gets a safe jump and extended corner carry - 0:57 you can see the extended float time. They choose to extend the combo for wall carry but it seems mid screen you can just use a safe jump over the extra dmg. Lily has a link from stand lk - crouch mk (might be punish counter only). This could indicate faster mk start up or increased frame advantage overall for stand lk - potentially improving her tick throw game. Ryu’s denjin hadouken now seems to be tied to either a strong button input or potentially od input, making it more applicable overall decent qol buff. Also his target combo can be cancelled into denjin for guaranteed set up. Kimberly has a new combo dr - cr.mk - st.hp. Aswell as air throw combo mid screen. Given the trailer season 2 is focusing on the games intended identity of OD moves being the bnb staples over drive rush. Also non perfect parry has increased recovery and perhaps less frame advantage 1:38 Kimberly attempts to punish deejay lvl 1 with dr - crouch mp. Which should about +3/4 frame advantage after dr. Yet Dee Jay gets a reversal after what looks like two frames. Wake up dr will likely be a meter sink but at least gives Manon/ Kimberly/Gief/ Lily get off me options. Looks like it can lose to meaty jab though. Hopefully full patch notes within the week will give better insight. Season 1 ended up being very meh for me, hopefully Season 2 has made enough qol changes to game.

That's right, for two levels of super and two levels of drive rush, with a setup that requires crouching heavy punch to hit in the first place, Zangief can do ... a bit of damage.

@@PabloRodriguez-ov9sx I will grant you that: it does look cool. It just feels like a kick in the pants that this is our "balance" patch: we can now spend a lot of meter to accomplish nothing.
