This movie feels like drugs personified
Would you be surprised to know that the original script was meant to be a live action-animated horror film?
Space Case I want that
You're not wrong.
Hahaha so ture
Given what Ralph Bakshi, the director, went through, it might as well
like if u dont understand anything in this movie
ElgiS this has gotta be the weirdest day in Las Vegas history
I remember seeing this in theaters thinking “Wtf?”
Kinda out of context, but I can't say it's bad.
nope. not a thing
*Ralph Bakshi nods in agreement*
don't do drugs kids
@Alexander Kim lol nice one
More like don't do h€Nti
@Alexander Kim Not in some countries tho.
You know, this is pretty horrifying when you look at it: people randomly being turned into cartoon characters and completely losing their former identities to their new animated forms; the thought that everything you once were is gone in an instant to this new wacky cartoon you is pretty unsettling; sort of like what that Dastardly and Muttley comic by Garth Ennis did a few years back. That would actually be an interesting idea for a movie. Shame it's not explored here.
It’s kinda sad that both versions of Cool World had the potential to be really interesting and dark, with the original script being a dark horror comedy analysing a character who doesn’t belong anywhere and this version having the potential to analyse what happens when you take a society and bring their worst qualities to the surface in cartoonishly exaggerated ways. Too bad the studio screwed Ralph Bakshi over on this film
Check out something called "changed" it doesn't have irl to cartoon but it has the identity loss part in the bag
@@thefederation1506 *Vietnam flashbacks*
Well if I turn in to a mighty cartoon you don’t hear me complain
Basically Stanley Ipkiss and The Mask
The art style for the cartoons in this movie is beautiful but it makes no damn sense sometimes. 😭
That's because you are used to modern cartoon.
This movie is old and have a lot of old cartoon ohysics stuff going on.
@Perfect Music I watched it when I was a kid and it wasn´t confussing to me.
As I said before, it has a lot of trophies like those surreal backgrounds, etc. It has a lot of sketches and stuff people artist would draw in their free time, and a lot of stuff from old cartoons but directed more toward adults than kids.
So what you're saying is....cartoon logic is cartoon logic.
@@capscaps04 I also watched this film as a child. It was on my cassette with Who framed Roger Rabbit .
@@minhquango8708admittedly, its impressive.
While Roger Rabbit is the overall more memerable film and has a better story, it's the more creative artstyle scenes like this that make this a guilty pleasure film for me.
I still feel bad for what the movie could've been if the studio didn't screw Ralph's original script.
They put in 1000x more work into the Roger Rabbit animation. Cool World didn't even try.
They want do do a horror film when man have a child with cartoon woman and this child trying to find his father and in the end realise then it not bellow any of worlds. It is an abonimation wich only bring pain.
That can make more sence in original scenrio.
@@user-go2ld4ti6r this is one of those rare times that a movie needs a remake. If that ever happens they should go with the original idea.
In my opinion, This Film was The Grown-Up Roger Rabbit.
Fun Fact: Studio involvement ruined this film.
Watch nostalgia critic much
Usually does tbh
I can see that.
@@telenet5663 this was known way before he made his Cool World video.
This scene probably looked better on the storyboards.
So....Cool World Was Paramount Pictures' Answer To WFRR.
Where Toontown Becomes Real.
Yeah pretty much
the camera shots are so static where you can't really feel at any point the full length of this cartoon apocalypse
One of the few movies where it's fun to root for the bad guy.
Who's the bad guy? I've never watched the movie
@@aaAa-bp1yd Holly Wood.
Ben Larsen Is she the girl at the beginning of the film? What does she do?
@@aaAa-bp1yd don't know, maybe a dancer.
@@aaAa-bp1yd yes she is.
This whole section and the next one look like they belong to a Ren and Stimpy cartoon episode.
emilie baartman Ren and Stimpy is normal compared to this
Ok nostalgia critic
Ralph Bakshi (director of Cool World) was John K.'s (creator of R&S) mentor and producer for a number of years until John went on his own to create R&S for NIckelodeon
Going to be honest. I was high as fk when I watching this scene. I don't even know if I still am.
This movie was made to be watched only high AF
At 0:07-0:13 just imagine if Johnny Bravo was in this movie and he was hitting on Holli Would.
Boiiii
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That lady at 1:13 isn't even surprised. The slimy reptile version is no more off-putting.
This whole movie is that fever dream you get after watching cartoons all day.
Dafuq am I looking at?
The same reason the video says
Madness rising
This of course wasn't Rated R
A weird movie caused by a studio interference
Pure madness and insanity
There is a limit to how much crazy I can take and this movie past the threshold
Fun fact: The lady smoking the cigarette at 1:12 is Jinx Dawson. Vocalist of the band "Coven".
Being a cartoon character would be pretty awesome.
Sounds good to me.
Unless your in the Roger Rabbit universe where an evil toon in disguise wants to dip you.
From what I understand, this was the personification of Studio involvement. Ralph Bakshi had a far different way to end the movie, but we got this nonsensical mess of an ending.
So what was HIS original ending?
So happy we got this then, instead of another monstrosity like Son of The Mask.
@@recklezz_child9344 They didn't ask about the original idea, they asked for the original ending of this version, which as far as I'm aware didn't exist. The ending is written by a different person than the rest of the movie because they couldn't come up with an ending.
Can someone actually make a movie where there is an actual permanent cartoon apocalypse because I think that will be so much fun.
0:50 Dude: "Hit me"
*proceeds to get literally punched in the face*
so after gaining the spike, she went insane and focused on turning the real world into her own personal world even if she went back to being a toon?
Pretty much sums it up.
*This whole movie is on acid.....*
This move *is* acid.
Yeah, it is....Isn't it great? :)

If you remove the dialogue and sound effects, you will hear an EXCELLENT jazz infused ensemble. Hats off to Mark Isham, the composer.
wish someone uploaded his tracks to RUclips
I remember watching this movie when I was a child, thinking it was “Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?” Even though the movie doesn’t make sense I have to admit that the Animation looks awesome!
Cool World Reminds Me of Tex Avery's MGM Cartoons !
Cartoons are bonkers weird from the 1980's to the 1990's.
Best times. Nowadays it's Disney this Disney that.
Harley Quinn, the cartoon, seems bonkers as well....but in a good way.
(And that's a current show, btw).
@@kirk1701 They meant goofy cartoons like Animaniacs Ed Edd n Eddy Tom and Jerry Looney Tunes Ren and Stimpy thats just violence over violence
@@m56214 As Well as SpongeBob, Goofy, Woody Woodpecker, Tex Avery,
Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, The Fox and the Crow and Pingu !
1:11 I love that doodle's design.
This party never stops! Time is dead and meaning has no meaning! Existence is upside-down and I reign supreme! Welcome, one and all, TO WEIRDMAGEDDON!
1:52 The guy following looks like Inspector Closeau or Big Nose from the Pink Panther cartoons.
Yes!
They ripped off Tex Avery's Wolf and Little Orphan Annie also.
@@marlawhite1430 No kidding. o_o
@@marlawhite1430 There Must Be A SpongeBob-Like Character Some Where !
I Mean, There's Every Toon from The Golden Age of American Animation !
Love how the dirty hustler is shown like a snake but the girl in real life looks and is all cool about it
The animators were told by Bakshi to just draw whatever they wanted, and it shows. The whole movie just has random cartoon gags scattered everywhere with no connection to the rest of the movie
In other words... Go by the nature of toons, not by the story in that moment.
1:41 I see some of the human body parts behind the chicken form
Quite a few are actually. That one women is from an old newspaper cartoon.
Haseo what one
This has to be one of the most craziest, weirdest and funniest movies I’ve ever experience! 0w0
The Elvis scene killed me.
Can't be Vegas without him. (Along with the wacky nature).
Maurice LeMarche completely owned this movie with only a few lines as Superhero Jack.
The super hero sounds like a voice you would hear from the old Cartoon Network shows.
It's Maurice LaMarche, the Brain from Pinky and the Brain.
@@ShadowSonic2 tbh at first I thought it was Jeff Bennett the voice of Johnny bravo and ace from the powerpuff girls
0:04 SHAZAM! ⚡💥💪
This movie feels like metaverse
Shoutout to the lady who just went back to smoking like 'it's whatever.'
God watching this without context is an experience
I always said this clip from Cools World was a depiction of the goddam political loonatic World we live in. Funny Hell AF
💢💥"HIT ME"💥💢
You know for this being the cartoon apocalypse in which the fabric of reality is about to be torn apart by sheer animated madness...people seem rather chill save for a few who are aware of it. Everyone is like "Huh...Vegas, am I right??"
A place to fear and loathe... Which it'll be another story.
Where’s the DIP when it’s needed most?
Not everyone was so lucky to look good as a cartoon character like Holi, Lonette, and Frank🤦🏾♀️
What is happening?
yami o near as I can tell the spike was a gizmo that held the power to create a link to the toon world allowing things from one world to go to the other. When Holli ripped it loose it basically went into overdrive and merged the toon world with the real world.
So what happens if they stay merged?
Thanks go so badly
GIVE ME THAT SPIKE!
(grabs it)
I NEED IT SO I CAN BE IN HUMAN FROM EVEN MY PLANET!
Srry im a dragon
To quote Krusty the Clown "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT".

1:15.
Lounge lizard!
It’s like a PG-13 version of Roger Rabbit. Even though Roger Rabbit should have been PG-13 if it didn’t have Disney, Warner Bros, and etc children cartoon characters in that movie.
This is a real nightmare of an apocalypse where everyone becomes caricatures of what the media doesn't want you to see.
2:03 loll bruuh
Holli should be ashamed of herself.
I'm pretty sure Holli doesn't feel shame.
If she have a conscience.
1:10 That looked like
Tex Avery's wolf.
Pretty much that what inspired him to create those toons.
1:49 I see a ton of Mr. Game & Watches in the background!😂
What is the music when people starts turning into different cartoonish characters like the two women when they are turned into a cartoon form of themselves, 1:04, or this part, 1:13. Basically when all of this was going on.
1:40 - 1:44 my favorite part
Shame. Movie was horrible but visuals were quite interesting.
1:51 Is that Fearless Leader?
Seems to look like it. Even Big Nose from the Pink Panther is following him.
I feel bad for Ralph Bakshi getting the original idea for his movie screwed over, it would have been great to see something from his mind with this insanity
Sad thing is both versions of this film had potential, the idea of a cartoon character wanting to become real only to have it ripped away from them and deciding to screw over the human race due to it is a good idea, heck if Ralph was allowed to rewrite the script it could’ve been great but instead it’s like a bad acid trip after watching Who Framed Rodger Rabbit
Wait if im high will i understand this scene?? Is it like reverse psychology?
Why does Jack look and sound like Gaston?
The animation style on its own could be better suited for Cartoon Network.
Is this a rip-off from who framed roger rabbit
Yes
0:17 How I feel riding on the back of a motorcycle.
Satisfied with yourself, Holli? Now you doomed us all with your selfishness, your acts of power and greediness!
Where’s a truck full of DIP when you need it?
eli otero Holli’s beauty, hotness,, and sexiness made me sweet, but her selfishness and greediness of getting the spike and her power to take over the real world with doodles makes me sour.
eli otero You mean a barrel of DIP.
Brandon Kohout a barrel is probably enough for one toon.
eli otero And that one toon is Holli Would.
Alright, who filmed my dreams?!!!
0:47-1:04-1:14-2:04-2:08-2:10
Pure insanity, love it
Keep in mind, one of the animators is Snoopy from Peanuts, Bill Melendez
I’d be okay with turning into a cartoon! 🤣👍.
How am I gonna see a live-action animated movie that has The Hero of Color City characters?
Bakshi, you are a genius of animation (along with Don Bluth)
One of the last of the true greats.
I feel like if the movie clips were rearranged it would look the exact same as if they weren’t rearranged
The dude kind of reminds me of blasto!
Jeez, it was so weird when Jack becomes a Superhero. It not even the same actor who plays him in the role!
Somehow, I imagine Holli saying something like this, "At last, it's mine!" And then she does a maniacal laugh.
Probably that's the original idea
while design and quality of animation is very good. Vfx, combination of live action and animation is poorly done and looks primitime.

Lilo: Elvis must be rolling over in his grave right about now.

If you can't "read between the lines" then of course you wouldn't understand it. If you can, then THIS is frkn hilarious on Sooo many levels bc it's true!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is like Roger Rabbit but it just focuses on T👀nTown 😋
This movie could have been better, but it ended up being one big terrible mess.
