What's interesting is Surpass do make the 3660 in both 2900kv and 3800kv so I do wonder if they were just labeled incorrectly, and possiblity the reason why you got so cheap.
Given the lower then expected amp draw of both it does seem like a possibility.

Yeah I've owned and still owned a few surpass hobby and never had any problems with them.
First one I owned was the rose and silver platinum series, a 2845 5000kv. I was super impressed with it, very smooth and powerful and have mostly brought surpass motors since. None have died on me despite that 2845 at one stage being completely underwater with all other electrics includeded the battery dying, but the motor was still strong.
When I removed the motor out of the car, I pulled that one apart to clean all the dirt and grease out after over a year of abuse and impacts since it was rear mounted motor exposed to impact. When I put back together it ran a little hot, even without load. I probably could of kept and still ran it but decided to retire it since new ones are so cheap as I ended up putting a brushed system in that car to give to a kid as his first RC and didn't have any immediate use for that motor anyways.
Since then I've owned blue can, platinum and KK series 2440, 2838, and 3665 motors and have not had any problems with any.

Another good motor brand that punches well above its price range that is not made by surpass hobby (goolrc and Ocday made in surpass factory) is Ldpower. LDpower have been making well known race drone motors for a while but are not so much established in RC car motors yet. The two most common sizes I know of is the 3652 and a 3674 motor. I own two 1/10 2WD buggies of the same make and model, one has a hobbywing ezrun 3652 3300kv the other a 3652 3800kv LDpower. Obviously I was expecting the high kv motor to have a higher top speed due to higher rpm yet I was not expecting how much more punchy, smooth, refined and responsive it was compared to the hobbywing. Higher kv, same gearing yet seems to have more torque. Also stays cool too even after a 28min endurance track run (didn't quite last 30min) on 3S with thottle rate turned down to be about 2S power.
And you can find these on AliExpress for peanuts. Haven't tried the 3674 size but next time I need a motor that size I will try the LDpower one for sure

I would like to see you do a test on the 3665 motors please? Just by judging these maybe the 3665 won't put out close to its rating as well unlike the 3650 motors you tested. I need to replace my 3660 3200kv spektrum motor that seized and looking at going to the surpass 3665 3500kv motor. So by the way these tested maybe the 3500 I want will end up being close to the 3200kv rating of the factory motor but with slightly more torque

@@mrdangerdanger2189 yes, but that is a tiny little car on road. I don't see how that makes it good. It's very easy for a small car to go fast when the motor is almost as big as the car. xD

@@mrdangerdanger2189 that is not what you said in your original comment. I agree. They are fine for the price.
How did you come to the conclusion that I thought they were weak?

Hi Iawrence, great vids mate keep up the good work. I was wondering if you or anyone else out there could possibly help me please? Im a newbie to electric rc, but ran nitros many years ago. Unfortunately my health has recently taken a nose dive and not able to walk or move very much so decided to find a hobby that I could actually do. Im on a tight budget and dont know very much about all this(but Im learning very fast lol) thats why in my infinate wisdom I went out and stupidly bought a Maverick Quantum XT brushed version from RC Geeks(cowboys). Totally disappointed in speed, I knew I should of waited and got the brushless 3300KV 80amp version, but you know what its like........I want it NOW lol. I really want to upgrade to brushless but as stated before Im on a reasonably tight budget and I dont need a rocket, want to run mainly on 2S with an occasional 3S put through it, just for a bit of good bashing no supersonic speed runs or anything. Can anybody recommend a package with a good motor and ESC with a programming card or is it better to buy everything seperately? I was looking at this package???? www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003262319187.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.1eba38da1pXVD0&mp=1 Any help and advice from anyone out there would be HUGELY appreciated. Cheers.

The esc in the combo you linked is not good. The motor looks OK though.
