I cought up on the story, which got a lot better in the last acts of the launch version of the game. It lifts the score for story for a bit, but I barely understood enough from the first few acts to be able to really give it a fair score overall. Just know that the story get's better and they are even taking feedback on the Voice Over direction being worked on.
Wuthering Waves ultimate selling point was it's combat, so on that front it isn't over hyped. However as a result the it leaves the areas that it is weak in open to criticism. The narrative is a very modern. It very close to the LitRPG style of writing seen in a lot of LNs and koren Web comics like the Gamer or Solo Leveling which does which can feel out of place to those unfamiliar with those. And while it doesn't use levels a lot of the world building has very clear video game feel to it. The writing also feels like it written fir Novel rather than a video game which is possibly why to you struggled to connect to it, as the format doesn't cleanly translate well leading to some scenes feeling nore stiff than they should. It's a good game but one made for a very modern player base.
Solid first impressions - I absolutely agree with the yappery side of things & it was nice to get explanations for your reasoning & scoring. The movement looks like a lot of fun but the story needs focusing & de-bloating. The character designers also need to step-up their game if they want to compete with their main, perceived, rivals within the open world gacha sphere.
Yeah there are a few lags here and there during combat for me but to me it’s only version 1.0.0 so hopefully they fix it by 1.1 or 1.2 And story wise I feel like it didn’t capture the moment since the game was hyped. I hope it get better moving forward. Overall it’s pretty good so far and still too early to judge
Thanks for the vid, I agree with you in all you say, I’ve been playing it for a bit and I have the feeling that it could be great if they fixed some things here and there, but it’s a pretty solid game even tho it just released.
This was a great review, Miya! So well made and thorough, while also being brief. I've not played WuWa yet, but I have watched a lot of streamers play it, which has brought up many of the same points, such as all the yapping, and character designs being similar. That said, I will say I really like the female designs, but I agree, they need more variety (still love Yangyang. She's best girl).
People compare Wuwa with Genshin, but they clearly forgot how Genshin was at it's release. The story, I mean the argument and the plot, are solid and looks interesting, but it has the same problem with Genshin: TOO MUCH TEXT
I saw some parts of the later story (act 6) and it seems to get really good there. I'll give it another chance. I am always open for change and devs listening and bettering their games
I see no talk of the math involved when leveling up skills like your basic attack.... It made my brain explode for a moment lol. I had to actually take a break after seeing it
Not being able to control the camera during combat is a big no no for a fast paced action game IMO. I probably won’t play it as I already have too many games I’m playing and in my backlog.

I have started playing Wuthering Waves today. I am enjoying playing it as its different to Genshin and HSR.
Thank you for your review Miya!!

Genshin launch much better than. Wuwa, and wuwa story is not interesting, it's absolutely garbage

Thanks for this, fully satisfied my curiosity about this game.
No interest in playing WW or Genshin but LOVED your to the point break down 🎉

it only happens occasionally and I feel like it will be fixed soon, so don't stress too much!
