      427My sisters Well water is polluted, 427 PPM. Another friends water in Charlton MA, 800 PPM Deathly Toxic. You can buy a TDS meter for about twenty bucks, that is all you need to test your water. As a reference Distilled Water is 0. You have to check your Pre-water /post=water with a TDS meter, if you get closer to Zero, then you know how purified it really is. You are paying for extra tests for nothing. WHAT is your PPM after filtering any water through your Berkey. Just because a water tastes better, it does not mean that it is. Think of all the toxic Geoengineering Chemicals that are polluting everyones well water. Double RO filters with booster pumps and a couple of heavy metal filters work best. If you dont' know your PPM, then your really don't KNOW what you are drinking.

    Excellent video! I'm about to order one of these Berkys. I've read many complaints about the filters, set up, clean up etc. Wonderful video here! I really appreciate and need this. When I order, I'll watch again as I set it up. Also, GREAT TO KNOW about the warranty warnings. I often purchase things on Amazon. So, I'll just order from Berkey, or just pay attention if I order from Amazon. Thank you so much for the tutorial! ✌️❤️

    In the event of an EMP which would knock out electricity and subsequently pump stations in our small rural water district, we would have the option of using water from our pond. Would you feel comfortable that these filters would work sufficiently for pond, river, or creek water? Also, where and how do you purchase water testing products?

      I would feel very comfortable using this for all of those water sources. The filters inside are some of the best on the market and filter out everything harmful. We did a video on a water kit that we used a few years back. It was a thorough home test.....Here....ruclips.net/video/M4Eg69CsMFQ/видео.html. • @Mikha335

    My biggest complaint about Berkey is that the filters install with plastic threads. I spent $86 on the filters and they come with a plastic threaded bolt which stripped after hand tightening and are now worthless because water bypasses the filter going straight to the reservoir. If they would make them with a threaded brass fitting I would gladly pay the difference, but my Berkey has been sitting in the closet for 8 years. It really bothers me that an expensive and high quality filter is no better than trash because the cheapo manufacturers didn’t want to spend a nickel more to make a real quality product.

    • @CountryLivingExperience
      @CountryLivingExperience  4 года назад +1

      There are a couple videos of people paying for lab tests. Results weren't good but there's a lot of concern if it was the actual filtered water or contamination of the samples (was a bacteria that was found present and high levels of aluminum) If you get a test done, get the sample from the dripping filter as opposed to the spout

      There is a school of thought that distilled water is not recommended for long-term drinking. It has all the minerals stripped out of it, and it's also slightly more acidic than mineralized water. I'm not sure if adding minerals back in would suffice. There's really no silver bullet solution, as far as I can see. All filtration methods have pros and cons.

      Blue car TDS dropped some but not too much. I think The Berkey leaves behind lots of the minerals in the water, which id not necessarily a bad thing, but to me it doesn't taste good. I'm in Los Angeles, I'm sure there's a bunch of junk in our water. I still use the Berkey just because I paid for it, might as well use it. My husband is also not a fan of the taste.

      Country Living Experience: A Homesteading Journey I probably didn’t do a good job explaining. We usually purchase our water by filling the 5 gallon water jugs. My berkey water seems to have ‘weight’ to it. For example the consistency of water vs maybe apple juice. I ran the water through a few times. I will run a few more cycles and see if there is a difference.

    I live in Cali and bought a travel berkey since it’s one of the only ones allowed and I had my water tested in an EPA approved lab and berkey although claims to remove 99% of metals it does not. I found alarmingly high levels of aluminum in our water along with chlorine and sulfates. The test they conducted was not in an EPA approved lab and we have to ask ourselves where did they get their tap water they’re testing from? The customer service is terrible and I am trying to find a way to return my berkey without 2 different penalties of 20% each.

    Just heads up: I re-ordered my black filters for my Berkey and the water STINKS like petroleum. I don't know why, and I've primed over and over but it stinks. My water certainly did NOT smell that way with my old Berkey filters. I've had horrible service with this company, they don't want to hear my complaints and insist on me paying for new filters. The water out of tap in the upper chamber actually smells better by a mile (though a bit chlorinated). What is wrong with this company? and why are their products going downhill? Their service dept is NOT what you want to deal with, with a problem. I recommend going elsewhere when looking for a home water filter.
