Alyna Puhskinti certain businesses can’t have someone “just to deal with the numbers” without being involved in the business. Salons are one of them. You have to be somewhat experienced with the craft to understand where you can afford to cut costs and what you absolutely cannot cheap out on. There’s a reason TABITHA is a successful business owner, entrepreneur, and stylist - she can walk into a situation she doesn’t manage, look at the books, the team and environment and assess the situation- because she knows what’s essential in this business to survive, and it’s not just a smart business person. You’ve got to know where to invest in the team and be their open door resource. You’ll notice - most salons don’t have an HR department or an accountant. Maybe they have an accountant for tax filing at the end of the year, if that. Salons just are not that kind of business where you can outsource very much of the management. And I haven’t seen a single indicator that he’s a “decent businessman”... I just see him dressed like one. A stock broker is just a title, it doesn’t always mean you’re successful. Anne Nielsen nope thats misdiagnosing Autism/Aspergers. People with these conditions do have emotions and people with aspergers tend to be warm and caring which is why they get taken advantage of by sociopaths.
I'm sure they tell the owner she's coming on a different day, then she shows up early - so it's not that he wasn't expecting to see her, they mean he wasn't expecting to see her that day. I think they make sure it's worded that way in every episode.
So the way these things are set up they say we are recordings for the host so they can see how things work and for them to decide if they want to come help or can help
Yep! Absolutely ! He looks like a control freak with so much rage inside that he seems like he might explode at any moment... kind of a scary attitude. I’m almost halfway through this episode and I’m not clear why any of the stylists would stay under these conditions unless they feel their skills aren’t up to getting hired in a better salon.
Why someone who doesn't understand the minimum of the craft decides to have a salon? This is not even a business decision, if it was at least he would have wonderful managers and he will trust their knowledge.
He needs to understand that hair dressing is an art. These are artists that are passionate. Emotion. He is passionate about numbers and paper, not people. He has a lot to learn.
Or ruining it actually. If his tax consultant took an afternoon off to have the hair style 'n' dye and get the message that the dye is out after giving up their pay check that afternoon. That person is not going back, and likely advise friends and aquaintances to chose another salon.
32:21 The reason that they provided for why Brian wouldn't fire the incompetent receptionist was that she was kept because she's a "professional dancer".....Dear god what is this implying?!?!
March 14, 2013: H Design, the Minneapolis salon featured on Bravo’s “Tabatha Takes Over” television series, has closed. Owner Brian Honn says he prefers not to comment on the salon closing.
I remember seeing this episode when it first came out and he’s so enraging. He clearly hates being called on the carpet about the problems in his salon and I don’t think he really likes women unless he trying to bang them. If he wanted this salon as a business investment then he should be hands off and let people who know about salons and hairstyling run it. He’s a greedy, cold hearted and unwilling to take accountability for what are clearly his own failed business decisions.
I legitimately cannot imagine having 35 people WALK OUT ON ME and then be on the verge of having ANOTHER DOZEN OR SO walk out and *still* think it’s everyone else’s fault. 🤦🏿♀️ My goodness this man is hopeless
He could but if he has no experience, he should hire a manager (which he did) but also give them the authority and power they need to do what is best for the salon.
I have no idea how these people have given Brian so many chances. As a staff member, I would have been looking for a job. Brian is a type to me that will never change.
If Elisa’s a dancer, thats FANTASTIC!! She should have the Exact skillset that’s perfect for her salon role, she should be a terrific salesperson, organized, able to schmooze people. She should be a major asset. So how come she doesnt know of even seem to think of the basics in customer service & sales...? That makes...No sense to me.
Huh? How does being a dancer mean social skills & sales, marketing & organisational ability? Sales, marketing & customer service is a whole different skill set. For instance there are customer demographics to consider , then creating the appropriate marketing plans, strategies for TC. Some people could sell ice to the Eskimo people, they just have natural flair for it. Some people , as illustrated here, don't & never will.
Lol, what Brian actually wants to run, is an MLM. Sell products to your "employees", so they can run their own "business" and if it doesn't work out, it's their fault because they didn't work hard enough. This is exactly how MLMs operate.
I had a boss like Bryan. I was hired as a store manager but had no authority and I was yelled at by the project manager for not turning a 50K deficit around in two weeks. I was fired after two weeks. Within a little over two years, the whole entire chain was closed.
When he said the words of "revenue" and "profits", you can definitely tell that he doesn't have a passion for this. He just thinks this is easy money, and he doesn't care about his employees. To have a business like this you need to communicate and understand at least something about this,!
Tabitha. Thank you so much for slaying in the salon industry. I have never been to a salon where the level of quality, consultative approach and high customer service experience is offered. I have an Arsenal of failed salon experiences. It is one of the many years, I do not consistently use salon services. I love watching you “nail” the systemic issues in the salon. Hopefully, you will send a message that reaches the masses. Great job!
Yep! Absolutely ! He looks like a control freak with so much rage inside that he seems like he might explode at any moment... kind of a scary attitude. That was so sad, such a great team of people who all connected with each other like a family. This episode & especially "Brian" reminded me of a similar situation I was in a couple of years ago. New thriving business, I worked in a team of 12 & we all just really got on like a family, then a new manager came in, hadn't a clue about the business, never communicated with any of us & had no people skills whatsoever, made a lot of bad decisions that cost the company dearly, people started to leave one by one and that lovely family atmosphere slowly disappeared. A few months down the line the company went under & the few remaining staff were let go. All because of one lousy manager.
If Brian had listened to his staff, empowered his managers properly, and quite frankly just pay for supply replenishments; then he may have saved it. But his heart was solely set on the dollars going in and coming out. And he had no concept that happy employees = happy customers = returning business. He could have easily ran the salon "from the back" if he had given the managers proper empowerments and better decision-making powers since he actually had a good team in his salon.
"I'm not good at dealing with emotional people" THEN WHY WOULD YOU OPEN A SALON?! Honestly, why would you open any customer service oriented business? Anything that deals with consumers is going to have emotion involved.
I feel like he has a disability, even the way he talks he shows very little change in tone. There is eye contact but he is emotionally disconnected even from his own voice
@@pt2913 Psychopathic? That's pretty far reaching based on what was presented just on the show. His symptoms that did exhibit on the show suggest autism spectrum or even crippling anxiety. He seemed confused and surprised by the perceptions and emotions of others, and I didn't see any evidence of manipulation or violating the rights of others. He simply seemed mostly lost and avoidant. That speaks to executive function impairment and schizoid processes. His blunted affect and limited emotional range has a host of other diagnostic possibilities far more likely than psychopathy. Too bad the place closed. I really liked this group of hairstylists together, they actually seem to have heart. Good luck to them all
But thank goodness that man doesn't own the salon anymore
The Gordon Ramsay of hair salons
I KNEW he was the type of guy that would accuse the stylists of stealing the tools Tabitha GAVE THEM....I was SHOCKED that my theory actually got confirmed 😂
I think Brian was embezzling and stealing from his employees
Stealing, probably not embezzling though. They knew that he was taking money for his own benefit and that it was wrongful.
gawd I adore her. I'll take direct, constructive, proactive advice, any day, over false niceness.....
This man has no business running a salon or any other business. How do you not know the products needed to run the business you're running???
'I don't like hugging, and I wanna hug her' This woman is such a vibe
He has a personality disorder. He cannot emote or empathise. He’s not wired that way.
No excuse to not listen to advice given from professionals.
@@thi4877 how to teach an old dog new tricks/habits?
Yup. He’s a typical sociopath. It’s all about him. Nobody else matters. (Unless they’re gross profit)
Yes, on the autism spectre for sure, might be aspberger..
Anne Nielsen nope thats misdiagnosing Autism/Aspergers. People with these conditions do have emotions and people with aspergers tend to be warm and caring which is why they get taken advantage of by sociopaths.

Tabatha : were you expecting me?
Guy: no
*has a cameraman in the office*
It’s ridiculous isn’t it. During the “undercover” bit at the beginning who do they all think the cameraman is?! 🙄
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 for real
Owner: What does that mean?
Tabatha :It's the proper Australian term for ' I want to beat the crap out of you.'
Owner: 👁️👄👁️
Lol!
This was actually the only time I saw him show some emotion different from stone face😀
That was the best part😂
We use "throttle" in American English as well. Idiot
It’s an American term too. He just doesn’t know it.
“Oh! Would you like a medal 🥇 or a chest to pin it on!!”
Thank you Tabitha 🤣❤️💯 I’m stealing that one 😉
I get a misogynist vibe from him.
Definitely toxic masculinity
when he said "emotional people" i think we know what he meant.
Those damn women and gays
gianna joy exactly
He's treating both sexes like crap... I feel more a lack of humanity issue with him idk.
i just cant believe the lack of empathy this man has when he was "apologising" his face was like a busness man making a deal not empathy
"I apologize... For not being able to sell you my bs."
Not really, because a businessman trying to close a deal would actually show some HUMANITY
I'm not used to working with emotional people???!!!!! R u kidding me???? He has the emotional range of a teaspoon. Complete robot 🤖
Yep! Absolutely ! He looks like a control freak with so much rage inside that he seems like he might explode at any moment... kind of a scary attitude. He lloks at his staff with despise and defiance. He's so, sooo cold and full of himself. 😟 And when he said "I'm not used to speak with emotional people" I was like whatttt? I call that humans! He looks so empty inside, no empathy at all, not even an once.
@@cameleonfleuri I absolutely agree with everything you have just said
"These people" says it all.
emotional range of teaspoon is giving him too much credit.
“Brian has the emotional capacity of a spreadsheet” 😂😂😂🙌🙌🙌
I think he should close his doors and sell it. He obviously cares not at all.
RememberTheEighties it closed down a few years later!
I’m really surprised that Tabitha didn’t suggest selling the place to someone else, someone who is passionate about owning/running a hair salon.
It appears from another post on here that he did close down a couple years after Tabitha was there.
It closed like a year after Tabatha visited.
I thought the same!
Could tell from early on this man was not going to change, he thinks it’s everyone else’s fault and problem
He’s a Sociopath.
The salon didn't survive after Tabatha took over. It permanently closed a couple years after this.
Not even remotely surprising
I am not the least bit surprised.
That does not come as a shock. I hope they got the jobs they wanted
Such a shitty boss, waste of Tabathas time. :/
Not surprise at all! I would have leaved too!!!!
Because his daddy owns the building LOL
Agreed Samantha, it's like people who open Restaurants who haven't even worked in one before!
He needs to understand that hair dressing is an art. These are artists that are passionate. Emotion. He is passionate about numbers and paper, not people. He has a lot to learn.
He’s not really running it is he he’s just funding it and wasting his money
Or ruining it actually. If his tax consultant took an afternoon off to have the hair style 'n' dye and get the message that the dye is out after giving up their pay check that afternoon. That person is not going back, and likely advise friends and aquaintances to chose another salon.
exactly
his staff is funding it by the looka of things
He's hardly funding it
@@squibbkinns fair point
I Love Tabitha she is brutally honest I love that in a person
OMG tabatha actually put her head in her hands! I’m surprised she didn’t hit him 😂
"It's not me."
I fully expected her to just clot him. That or scream "It is you!" Or "Are you F*CKING DENSE?"
That guy has zero personality. It’s so strange. He expects all of the staff to just do their jobs and he’s just silent
When Ms Tabitha said F your spreadsheets I choked a lil on my drink
Why is the backdrop in her interview area full of V05 and Suave shampoo bottles?
Probably sponsors
I think it may be a green screen.
Yes Green screen
Sparen66 green screen or not. The only reason they’d be advertising those shitty products in the background is because of a sponsorship.
And LA Looks gel!
Please tell me this salon closed down and all of the staff got amazing new jobs without that god awful owner!
Apparently it’s closed now, I read some comments about it
Not surprised at all to hear that this salon closed in less than a year after this show aired, what a complete train wreck!!!!
I thought I’d seen every episode but I haven’t seen this one keep em coming :)
'Brian has the emotional capacity of a spreadsheet'. hshshshshs

March 14, 2013: H Design, the Minneapolis salon featured on Bravo’s “Tabatha Takes Over” television series, has closed. Owner Brian Honn says he prefers not to comment on the salon closing.
Thanks for uploading ! I miss this show. I hope you can keep uploading :)
I want to slap this salon owner myself. Such a dishonest character.
I legitimately cannot imagine having 35 people WALK OUT ON ME and then be on the verge of having ANOTHER DOZEN OR SO walk out and *still* think it’s everyone else’s fault. 🤦🏿♀️ My goodness this man is hopeless
Please keep uploading these, I watched them on TV over a decade over and it takes me back. Those 08' fashion choices, love it.
Please do load more. Please.
"Bryan has the emotional capacity of a spreadsheet" and "You have the emotional range of a teaspoon" both have the same energy. xD
This guy has no respect for the industry, or his staff and should stick to a desk job in his cubicle.
Brian has the emotional capacity of a spreadsheet!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think that’s the best thing I’ve ever heard ANYONE say!
I’m obsessed with this show please upload more 😊
"I can't be spread everywhere like Peanut butter" lmao
Instead of charging for supplies he should be providing schooling to help his staff become the best around. But he won't because hes a sociopath
This man just has no heart , no emotion , he sure as hell knows nothing of running a salon ! Those stylists need to just go elsewhere !
The other salon the walkouts set up looks so much better
He's the type of man who blames everyone else for his mistakes. He doesn't listen.
This guy should never ever have opened a salon, he's a terrible boss.
He could but if he has no experience, he should hire a manager (which he did) but also give them the authority and power they need to do what is best for the salon.
He didnt open it. He bought it and his staff fucked off he was so bad as a manager
The only thing that wrecks me is the vo5 bottles in her interviews and I'm seriously dieing
I was literally thinking the EXACT same thing!!!!
She’s probably bad at dancing then lol
The boss is just a creep that wants to see a pretty face every morning 😶
And that's the reason why Brian is her customer!😘🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He's a dud. Imagine him in the bedroom .. snooze fest!

When he said the words of "revenue" and "profits", you can definitely tell that he doesn't have a passion for this. He just thinks this is easy money, and he doesn't care about his employees. To have a business like this you need to communicate and understand at least something about this,!
I hope he loses all his extra money and has to rebuild from the bottom up, the hard way
@@eleanorcooke7136 Actually he did he had a close down the salon a couple years later
Tabatha is the best💯 every salon needs her to overlook.
Great job!
This owner is like a robot lol. He have no emotions....

Gabby McCallister I think this is an insult to all bricks out there this guy is his own damn breed at this point🤣
I believe Tabatha said spreadsheet instead of brick 🤣🤣🤣 but yep!
The blond guy was so cute all seemed very friendly
He is not good at dealing with people. Any people. He does not seem human.
What a cheapskate! Disgusting. Charging them for the stuff Tabitha gave him for free.
"Emotional capacity of a spreadsheet" GOLD!!!

I feel like he has a disability, even the way he talks he shows very little change in tone. There is eye contact but he is emotionally disconnected even from his own voice
Yes, he's a psychopath
@@pt2913 Psychopathic? That's pretty far reaching based on what was presented just on the show. His symptoms that did exhibit on the show suggest autism spectrum or even crippling anxiety. He seemed confused and surprised by the perceptions and emotions of others, and I didn't see any evidence of manipulation or violating the rights of others. He simply seemed mostly lost and avoidant. That speaks to executive function impairment and schizoid processes. His blunted affect and limited emotional range has a host of other diagnostic possibilities far more likely than psychopathy. I'm curious as to where you note anti-social symptomology?
@dulce bautista, you are quite persceptive, and I noted the same symptoms. You are just missing the diagnostic terminology to describe your acute instincts. Ever considered getting trained in a psych field? Diagnostics is an art as much as a science, and you've got something to offer.
