  • Causey Pike, a great medium level walk. At 2,090ft above sea level, overlooks Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake, and the other way towards Hindscarth, Robinson, and Grasmoor.
I started this walk from Braithwaite, leaving the village on a lane heading south west up hill for just a few hundred yards until it turns into a track near Barrow Gill. From here the top of Causey Pike can be seen. Following the path it skirts around the south of Stile End to meet a low level path coming up from Stoneycroft Gill. We take this route on the way down, but for now continue forward where you soon come to a path that leads off to the left, turns, and heads diagonally up the north face of Causey Pike where you follow the ridge forward to its highest point. Enjoy the views for a while. There is a very steep path from here that heads directly east straight off the top and down. But .... the few people I met up here, including me, had decided it wasn't looking the safest way down (or up), so I went back the same way I came up until reaching the track leading off to the right to be alongside Stoneycroft Gill. So, following this path it turns left after a mile following the base of 'Barrow' and heads north to take you through the farm at Braithwaite Lodge and back into the village. About 5.5 miles.
The panorama film here is only a part panorama as my cam stopped filming half way through.
    Filmed in April 2024.
