    The Thicken Cut is genius - I would never have thought that this existed, let alone find a way to use it! You really are very creative - thanks for sharing all your knowledge.

      It is very counterintuitive, especially with the name "thicken".😀

      I love fusion 360 but have always felt fusion was a little bit limited and flat till I found this guy

    Hands down the most useful, practical, focused channel about Fusion. Each video is a gem. Thank you.

    Showing WHY you do things, especially with that emboss "failure" clip, is one of the best things about your channel. Really shows how rigorous you are.

    Thicken cut - this is why I watch your videos, not only I just learned how to use surrogate emboss I learned also this handy little trick. Thanks 👍

    I bet the guys at Autodesk are taking notes.

    Really hope Autodesk are watching this to see the weird and wacky ways you have to go about doing an emboss like this. Although it is great the work they have done so far with their emboss feature it’s still so far in its infancy. Great tutorial as always.

      I will cut Autodesk some slack here. Solidworks has the same problem with their wrap tool. I think the technical term is that this will only work on a developable surface. I am not sure whether this is a geometry limitation or a software limitation.

    You’re a genius!!!! I’ve been battling this emboss trying to make a honeycomb pattern on some beautiful curved custom pens and couldn’t get it to work, you sir deserve credit for the surrogate emboss

    Another very instructive video. Thank you. Nice tip about using thicken-cut to avoid all the extraneous bodies.

    Sweet! Thanks for doing this, I hope to put it to good use soon. Maybe one day emboss will be able to handle multiple curves and solve all our problems.

      If only Emboss could easily wrap a complex plane, it would make my job SUPER EASY

    That Thicken+Cut is clever. I think would have tried to do it with Combine:Intersect with a solid body, as I used similar techniques with OpenSCAD.

      Do note that there is a recent update to allow for embossing on complex faces. Perhaps you can try that first. In some cases, it will still distort the profile. If that happens, this method can be an alternative.

    Any chance for a video on modeling from reference pictures? I have parts here with compound curves and complex curves, but setting up the references is a pain, even with a ruler in each photo, the sizes are all over the place even with the calibrate option

    So IS there a way in Fusion to have an actually accurate pattern on a surface that is non-planar in more than one direction? I have plenty of curved surfaces that I need to pattern components and/or features onto, and I don't know if Fusion can even do it. :-/

    • @Fusion360School
      @Fusion360School  2 года назад +1

      I have not tried this yet but it might be possible to use the sheet metal function for this. Of course, it would be a lot more involved. You can refer to this video to get a sense of how this can be done.

  • @WWalleYY

    One question though, lets say I want it to cut into the bottle, what would I have to do then? Just this, but then in reverse?

    • @Fusion360School
      @Fusion360School  3 года назад

      When I saw your question, the first thought that came to my mind was to use the deboss option in emboss. But it quickly became apparent that it was not going to be that easy. I am in the middle of preparing a follow-up video to show this. Thank you for the question!

    on embossing :( anyone got a solution?

    • @Fusion360School
      @Fusion360School  3 года назад +1

      Hi, during my testing, I would sometimes get this error too. I would suggest that you try to slightly adjust the pattern. This can be done either by adjusting the size of the diamond or the spacing.
