- Border View Farms is a mid sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. We raise corn, soybeans, and wheat on a little over 3,000 acres.
My name is Nathan. I run this channel and farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. I get questions about how and why we do things on the farm frequently, even from my own family members, so to help explain things it's easier to just show you. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture in general as well as dispel some of the common misconceptions.
I hope you enjoy my content and please ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can.
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos.
You can reach me through messages on Facebook or Instagram @borderviewfarms or by email bakernth@gmail.com. Please don't call my parents house! - Развлечения
I'd like to get one of those tires from you to make a tire swing for an old girlfriend of mine. She outgrew her last tire swing - those look perfect.
Breakfast and BVF! AWSOME! God's continued blessings!
Great video Nathan nice looking new tires
Good looking new tires. That makes want to get rolling!
Great job 👍🏻
I've never seen tractor tires changed but thanks to your video I now have.
Another great video🌽
Gave those tires a good name. One Year. I hope new Titan tires are a lot better. Great video Nathan. Changing big tires is a lot of work.
15k subscribers have been reached. congratulations!
Gotta say, it was nice to watch someone else change tractor tires. Lol Have a good day Nathan.
New tires are as nice as a new windshield.
Great video
Best Line of the year...."Good for a year"
Had a good chuckle at that one
Worked for a large Aerostructure company and when they would stretch form metal they would actual stretch it more than required because of spring back.
How does want to tell you that what your dad made there was just amazing the band that piece of wood in makeup them fixtures to hold him .if you put them tires on the back of your 4028 left yet haha.
Nothing like a new set of shoes to make a tractor look new again.
Your tire guy is a pro. Patching those splits will likely prevent the tire from compromising the tube. Not all tire techs would have A) noticed those splits and B) installed a patch to cover them. 👍🏻
Someone like me who, in fact, is a tire technician, if I spotted splitting and cracking, I personally would have rendered the tire NR and suggested the tire be replaced
@@cleansedbyfire9223 having grown up in the tire business and after 67 years still a shop owner, I agree that replacement would be ideal. In the real world, most family farmers are not spendthrifts. If they can get another 100 hours out of a patch, that’s what they’re going to do.
@@fleminj2pa that’s a very fair statement. Even I myself am not always willing to just replace something while it still might have even a tiny bit of life left in it.
You won’t regret going with firestone tires!
Hi Nathan, weld a pin or dowl wood width from the form at either end, out of steamer slot behind pin bend round form slot behind other pin and clamp up.
Well now I know how my tire guy will do my tires Friday for my 2640 John Deere. This tractor was my Dads, after new rear tires then I rebuild the engine and give it a new paint job. As far as Good for a Year they are improving they just bought Cooper Tires LOL
The new tires look good! As for the old ones that are cracked and leaking, put Tireject in them! It cures the problem, without having to tube them! SR
Lol I knew it was coming!
Nice meaty tires. Good job on the bending bead didn’t look satisfied though. Probably need to bend further than you need so when it is released from the form it’s at the right bend.
for steam bending, check out Ingels coach shop. He bends wood on a regular basis for wagon hoops and wagon wheels. He's been doing it for 40 plus years, seems good at it.
IMO that was pretty good first try on the steam bending. To get a tighter bend, what do think about steaming two half thickness boards and laminating them together when you put them on the form.
that trucking company who delivered ur seed--was my old company who i worked for 8and half yrs almost 20 some yrs ago. it was called conway express back then. some of the best money i ever made in my life-wished i had stayed another 10 yrs after i quit-to come back to the coal company to run dozer. oh well..
The differential is what is letting you turn the back wheels. The wheels are turning a different direction on each side so the transmission isn't turning!
Sandbox for the boys
Must be 10 mph faster, you wish 70% faster 🚜🏁 🤣😂
Will want to see how they pull when you get in the field ?
Dad should build a structural second form for that to be able press it between. The metal is too flexible get a firm press.
Surprised you weren’t trying to get a lick of paint on them rims while the tires were off
I thought about it but that would have taken to long.
👍🏻👍🏻
Good video why keep your old tires around?
What the name
Of the tool you used to break the bead look a whole lot easier then using the three finger Willy and scissors
Those are awesome! How confident was he on those boots holding for the tube?
Enough to keep it from punching the tube I think. He was more worried about more cracks forming. I'm just trying to get a year out if them so hopefully it will be ok.
@@BorderViewFarms so wouldn’t do it for a set of duals over the long term?
@@BorderViewFarms I have an air leak at the bass of the valve stem on my tractor wheel rim and wonder if you could tell me how to identify to weather or not the tire is tubeless.
Those old tires make for a great sand box border for your boys at the new house!!!!
Better known as kitty litter boxes
@@johndurkin6344 🤣🤣🤣🤣, truth!
Maybe the manufacturer of the bad tires will see this video and reach out and offer you some assistance to make this right.
After I called the Good-for-a-Year I doubt it! 😂😂
@@BorderViewFarms That’s the thing, it called them out for making a product that is obviously falling apart before it should. It might shame them into making it right. If they supply a new set of shoes to show they care. I wouldn’t hold my breath though...
$ 11,000.00 Ouch!🇨🇦
Found out with tractor tires it's best to let the guys that do them all the time change them
How do you dispose of the old tires? The dealer doesn;t take them for disposal?
He probably would have but didn't really want them. The local conservation district has a scrap tire collection every couple years we can take them to.
Those are 15% at best.
tire jack may fix the problem
It is interesting to see that crack damage on the insides of those tyres but not good news for your business, Incidentally we would call those glued on patches as you called them a gaiter. - Why, I have no idea.
How much does tracks cost and how long do they last compared to tires
I dont know the answers to this
Why wouldn’t you just use one of those tires you just took off the 8430 on that R tractor? I know those match up in size or are very close
Will the different heights of tires effect the gear ratios of the front vs back tires?
I was more concerned with that when we replaced the fronts 2 years ago than I am now. I don't think its enough to matter.
If you are putting power to the front axle in the dirt it can slip and take care of any difference.
Right but they are both the original sized tires. Differences would only be from the amount of wear.
So what is your Opinion on the Michelin Tires that you have Nathan?
I imagine You can’t get a Warranty Claim on the Tire (Good Years) where the Lines didn’t match up at, I imagine it is Past The Warranty Period on those. I’m not sure how old they are but I assume it is Past the Pro-Rated Age & Wear on them.
Only Michelin tires we have are on the 9R and I think they are great especially in the bigger sizes like the 800/70R38's. In a 480/80R50 I'm not sure how much difference there would be.
@@BorderViewFarms I thought the 8335R had Michelin’s on it originally. So did that one Good Years as well?
It seems the past couple of years there had been a shift to more Michelin Tires on the Larger Tractors 480, 520, 620, 650, 710, 800R Tires.
Big Shout Out to your Father In-Law for doing that job for a Living! He gets my Respect that’s for Damn Sure!
The 8335R has the Goodyear's. That's the one we put the tube in. The 8430 had Titan's that were replaced.
Add come Tireject to it
Hey this is Elijah McGaugh i need some Titan tractor tires
Hey i need some Titan tractor tires
Tell me you bought Steve lunch!
I did. We got pizza
Where do you get your music from on the timelapse ?
RUclips music library
Awesome.
Thanks.
@@BorderViewFarms and what about your intro video?
@@hendrik1636c same
@@BorderViewFarms man i went through couple of those songs and they really sucked... are you youtu.be premuim member?
Have you seen any coyotes ?
Not recently
Could have ran those tires another year easily
I'll give you 5.00 a piece for them tires..lol I'll do 10.00 a tire if you deliver
Really annoying, that is keystone cops, just missing the music!!!
