ah, palo duro canyon in my beautiful home state of texas, the canyon is such a beautiful place to see ! this was a really nice video, glad the flow wasnt much bigger than that or you might have gotten into trouble ! yep, really nice video !
Terrorized sloth narrowly escapes certain doom after almost being chased by a single feather, aloft and floating though backed with the full force of a gentle morning breeze pushed ever slightly toward that general direction...
A flash flood should be defined as something more than this. Like, "a surge of water at least 12 inches deep, moving at least 10 mph". People may get the idea from videos like this, that flash floods are not that big a deal.
Oh my goodness, I was so scared! That water must have been going 2 mph or maybe even 3 and I could hardly keep up! At one point I had fallen and couldn't get up and thought this was it! My life just flashed before my eyes and I suddenly realized that i would get wet!
It was a close call for our fat dachshund. She was barely able to stay ahead of the water. The total time we preceded the flow was about 45 minutes. That was a long fast walk for her.
I fucking knew the comments would be people complaining about the video! Guys admit it, we'd all say to our friends that we got chased by a "dangerous" flash flood! Hell I know if I was still a kid and I saw that I'd make a game out of it turning it into something like tag!
That's cool watching the water like that... but um... I've taken more violent showers... so perhaps "flash flood" is a touch out of perspective... maybe Trickle Tickle... Slow Flow... Puddle Jumper... something like that would be more appropriate. I've been in a gorge during a flash flood, and my uncle almost died from one in the same gorge.. they're scary, dangerous and nothing to be trifled with. We were fortunate and heard the echo about two minutes before the water started rising.. got up about 12 feet on the bank with little time to spare. It had poured for a few minutes about 20 miles upstream, and we didn't know it... didn't take long to figure it out though. The water only rose maybe 3 feet, but the current was vicious for a few minutes before it calmed down. Easily could have been deadly. So your video is cute and all, but far from what the title says my friend.
Actually it came from a heavy rain storm just W of the park. The main stream had been dry for several months before and we had just finished a short hike. On our way out we encountered water over water crossing # 5 but water crossing #4 was dry. Considering 4 is just upstream of 5 we thought that was odd. We hiked around and found that the side stream from Capital Peak was the source. The water was 2-3 feet deep and very fast in that smaller stream. So we went back to water crossing #6, which was still dry, and started hiking upstream to find the front of the flash flood. We actually weren't sure how fast this thing was coming at us, but we were confident that we could climb out fast enough in a worst case scenario. As it ended up, the speed was quite slow in the much wider main stream.
I used the RUclips video stabilizer. I think that along with the cell phone autofocus gave it that weird look. However, the result was much improved over what I started out with.
"CHASED"??.. didn't look like it was in a hurry to "catch"you. I'm sure you probably meant well, but with that intro and that end result, you really should be embarrassed to upload this.. next time just say it's a nice video (which it is) of a small current of semi-rapid flow stream water and let it go at that. You're quite welcome.
I used the RUclips video stabilizer. I was amazed with the results. This video was taken with a cell phone while walking backwards. There are a couple of places where the video gets distorted momentarily, but overall it improved the quality of the video.
+KB in MD Last Its not slang. If a white guy walked up to a black man and said "nigga" he would take offense and probably punch him. Its racist and insulting.
+Donna Gilhousen Opinions vary. My male step kids are caucasian. In conversation with their male black friends call each other 'nigga' all of the time. Black to white or white to black.
This was the most adorable flash flood I've ever seen.
Aww!... Too short! I would have kept on watching this for hours!... Thanks for sharing!
Not certain why this has so many dislikes.. technically it was chasing you downstream.. lol..
I found this video very relaxing.
thanks for sharing.
Being that this flood is minor, it made for a beautiful and very relaxing video. I like it.

John Kirkwood it was a flash flood . If you were to leave when the water was ahead of you because you could be caught if a flash wave came and hit you

Are you using some sort of stabilization?
Yes, I used the RUclips editor and selected the stabilized option.
+Bary Nusz I was impressed by your smooth camera work - at times I thought you were using a drone, then I noticed footprints in the mud.
Nice calming video. I enjoyed it.

Yep, it fills up fast. Watch the video "Palo Duro Canyon Flash Flooding August 14, 2012". It went from 0 to 6 feet in less than 10 minutes.
Did you need to break into a light stroll during that chase?
Where did that water come from we were in a drought when you posted it.
It was a sunny day (like most other days), however there were showers just west of the park.

So where's the big flood part
" Be water my friend " Bruce Lee
I fucking knew the comments would be people complaining about the video! Guys admit it, we'd all say to our friends that we got chased by a "dangerous" flash flood! Hell I know if I was still a kid and I saw that I'd make a game out of it turning it into something like tag!

Don't knock your Titan. It did better than my Samsung Note 3 would've done. How did you get the vid to be so steady?
mtshell I used the RUclips editor and selected the stabilized option. It works really good in many cases.
The infamous Snail Flood of 2012. Killed dozens when they nodded out waiting for it to go by and drowned in 2 inches of mud.

Likely came from Lake Tanglewood releasing water.

Quick! Somebody build an ark and grab 2 of each animal!
Can you really be chased by a flash flood?
Your more in the way of a flash flood.
The irony in you using you're on the right context for your user name but then completely fucking it up with a comment.....
Smelly Nelly Thank GooglePlus for that "You're".
Very pretty.
How about changing the title to watching a ditch fill slowly.
I used the RUclips video stabilizer. I think that along with the cell phone autofocus gave it that weird look. However, the result was much improved over what I started out with.

+Smelly Nelly The use of 'nigga' is not racist as used but a slang term
+KB in MD Last Its not slang. If a white guy walked up to a black man and said "nigga" he would take offense and probably punch him. Its racist and insulting.
