    I know these tutorials are mainly based on using vanilla and AE2 only, but it's worth noting the usefulness of storage drawers in the second method of mass-storage you demonstrated.
    Using a Drawer Controller as the connection point for your export bus and storage bus, you can have as many as 9 items being stored in mass quantity. And with the variety of drawer sizes and upgrades in that mod, you have a huge range of flexibility in determining how much you can store. I think it's anywhere from 2 stacks (for the 2x2 half-wide drawers) to ...whatever 2048*(13*5) is...a full sized solo drawer with 5 emerald storage upgrades.
    You should be able to cram on 4 export buses on the drawer controller - 6 sides, 1 needs to be a drawer to connect to the rest of the drawers, 1 needs to be a storage bus so the system can access the drawers, leaving 4 sides open for export busses. That's 36 items and 5 channels. (You may be able to do better still by adding more drawer controllers; I'm not sure how the mod responds to having multiple controllers on the same drawer bank, though the fact that there's such a thing as a controller slave in later versions suggests it would cause problems)
    Also, this is all in theory. Mod synergy is not always perfect, even for AE2.

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  7 лет назад

      Wait a minute, you can put on several upgrades on the same drawer?
      Anyway, I agree, it's a perfect combination to use AE2 or RS with a drawer controller, I did this in my FTB Lite series and it was extremely convenient! It also did automatic oreDictionary translation for some reason...

    • @rashkavar
      @rashkavar 7 лет назад +1

      Yep - each drawer has 5 slots. I usually do either 5 emerald or 4 and a void, depending on how I'm getting the item. (If it's an autofarm from something that will otherwise leave items sitting on the ground, you need that void upgrade. Skyfactory 3's insane chickens comes to mind.)
      You can sneak-rightclick the drawer to see its interface with the upgrade slots, which is also handy for removing excess upgrades. (It doesn't let you remove upgrades needed to hold its current inventory)
      The oreDictionary thing is really handy - I've got a couple of types of copper in my temp drawer bank - I've yet to build the facility to house the permanent drawer setup.

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  7 лет назад

      I just had to try this. Seems like I could put 7 upgrades in the modpack I'm currently in. I thought it was only one, that's a HUGE amount of items to store within one block! Breaking the drawer will drop the upgrades as well, so that's good to know.

    • @rashkavar
      @rashkavar 7 лет назад

      Yep. I've never understood why so many people use barrels and caches, because the storage drawers are so good and make the configuration super convenient. I discovered them early, so it never really crossed my mind that guys with your kind of experience might have missed the multiple upgrade option.
      Also for the record, 13x7x2048 is 186368...that is indeed a LOT of items in one block. I mean, it's no deep storage unit, but hey, it's close enough.

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  7 лет назад

      I looked at the Storage Drawer info page and it didn't say anything about the amount if upgrades, but it DID say that one can shift+right click with an empty hand to enter a GUI. Damn there are many minor things I've missed :D

    Its worth mentioning that crafting cards should only be used for small recipes, as the card has to calculated the recipe every time. So if you are playing in an expert style modpack and try to use a crafting card on a recipe that has like 30 steps to it, your TPS and lag in general will be bad.

  • @vaijns

    I think I've found a way to make the level emitter design a bit more efficient. First of all, I'm pretty new to auto-crafting, so there might be anything stupid, but it works! :D
    I got a level emitter (emit when levels are below) for every item I want to craft, which toggles a toggle bus after which I have an export bus with a crafting card. From this export bus I'm going into a chest which then has one import bus for a few items.
    Having that chest saves some channels, because you can use a double chest and those toggle busses kinda save some as well, since the export busses are just online if the level is below, so the channel is just used while crafting (or waiting for crafting).
    9 items can go to one chest, the tenth side is for the import bus, every item uses 1 channel permanently and 1 while there isn't enough stocked items. Think it's a bit of a improvement.

    I thought I could get away without using the "do not use stocked items" setting. totally forgot about it and spent like 30 mins figuring out why it wouldn't work..... *sigh*. gotta take your word for it next time. thanks for the video. keep it up.

    • @rashkavar

      When you don't have it set to craft new stuff only, it winds up in a loop.
      Export bus says "I need to put ___ into this inventory. Network, do we have any ___?" The network looks around, finds a storage bus with it, and says "yes! I'll withdraw the ___ from this storage bus and you can put it where it needs to go."
      It's because of how the individual components work - the network doesn't know to ignore that specific storage bus when it looks around for stuff for the export bus, it just grabs the items from wherever. Since they're in that chest, it will suck it out of that chest, send it through the export bus and put it back in the chest.
      (AE2 might have a loop detection code that realizes what's going on and just stops the process to save the server a bit of meaningless work, but that's just behind the scenes optimization.)

    Thanks for this, very useful. However, I have an issue with the interface (which feeds sand to the chest which feeds 8 resonant furnaces) not supplying that chest quick enough for the furnaces. When I order the glass as a job, no problem - all furnaces kept full all the time, but using the level emiiter method, furnaces can only run at half speed due to the lack of input.

    • @therealtkh

    • @rashkavar
      @rashkavar 7 лет назад

      Thaumic Energistics isn't all that different from normal AE2 - almost everything it has is analogous to something that you can use in AE2 normally. Knowledge Cores are just patterns for arcane crafting. Vis relays are just a P2P network for CV. Essentia storage is basically just storing items, only they're items that go in a weird alternative storage cell and have weird interface variants for using them. The only thing I'm not certain on just from looking at the pack is how to give vis to the arcane assemblers.

    So in the example you used 3 export buses and emitters. But only set one of them. Does that mean the other 2 can be used for other items?
    No matter what i do, even with another copy of this, i can only have one emitter setup on the network. once i add another one they all quit working.

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  5 лет назад

      Yes, that's exactly what it means. Every item would require two channels, so it's not appropriate for general stuff, only things you want thousands of. I recently built this again and it works just fine so I have to assume there is something wrong with your build :) Might you be out of channels? Hard to guess without more info.

    Say i have a SAG mill.
    40k gravel in ME system.
    0 flint.
    i want the sag mill to make flint from gravel until flint level is 100 then stop.
    how to do?

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  7 лет назад

      Use the method I used 1 minute into this video (that I have covered in a previous video). Just prepare a pattern and an interface to a sag mill to produce gravel to flint. Find the video link in the video description. You can also put an export bus for Flint to the SAG mill to always have it filled with flint, the system will self-balance and keep both topped (risk of getting a few extra due to the SAG mill random bonus output).

    What if it is a slow item to craft? How do I get it to queue up a lot of the item at once? Such as pure quartz that requires no extra time to craft more than 1

    • @therealtkh
      @therealtkh  6 лет назад

      If you use a redstone signal to craft things and the item takes a long time to craft the problem is that you would get a big overflow before the system catches up... so I don't recommend that method for slow crafting items :)

    • @qmixlexq
      @qmixlexq 7 лет назад

      this can happen via this method... because all is delayed a little bit... the system checks "oh" i have enough stops the signal, but at this point in time the next ones are already being crafted ... so you ahve always some "over crafting"
      so with your setup you will propably get every order ~7 too much, doesnt matter how many you order (1 or 1000 :D )

    For some reason when I set this up to keep pure crystals stocked, it seems to freeze, and only queue up one batch of crystals, and after that, nothing crafts even if the redstone signal is still going into the export bus.

    • @fishecod2552
      @fishecod2552 8 лет назад

      if you are still having this issue (and you still care), you probably have the export bus to be able to pull from available inventories, when means instead of crafting more, it will just pull what it has, put it in to the interface, the interface will put it back, repeat.

    • @kylestamper2344
      @kylestamper2344 8 лет назад

      From my experience with this same problem i believe it is caused by the export bus only being able to out put a set number of items, which is increased by acceleration cards, thus the crafting computer only ques that amount of seeds to be grown into crystals. Then the computer waits on the seeds to grow into crystals before it starts the next batch. So, i bet if you look at your crafting que you will see the computer is making them but due to the time it takes to grow it seems like everything is frozen. The better way is with the storage bus and interface filling all nine slots with stacks of the desired crystal. The reason is because the interface will que up a stack at a time per crafting cpu in the system, which may be a slight inconvenience but will ultimately get the job done faster.
      edit: the down side is that you have to add more interface's/storage bus's if you want to keep more than 576 per interface

      Depens on what you want to do, but you can have a level emitter to control an export bus and do the auto-crafting outside of the network. But it can quickly go crazy if it's a difficult recipe.

And a co processing unit isnt needed at all for that easy task ... why doesnt the system use the smallest Cpu capable of doing this in "automatic" mode ... what does this stupid automatic mode even do ?!

    • @therealtkh

      Haha, that's a great question and I have no good answer... The system would never know what the next crafting job will be, so it would probably most of the time pick the largest one. Perhaps it's only a check so a large job can't be run on a small CPU or similar small checks.

      Well, in this video I covered three different variants. You made one of them yourself with the drawer (like my chest setup). I have just tried to build the first and final variant using the Advanced Inscruber (from AE2 Stuff). It works exactly like in the video so I guess it's your own choice what to use :) Normally I only keep a few in stock, so the first variant is probably my pick. And then just set half a stack or less of each processor to keep in stock and you're always ready for some building. That can be done with only one interface, and you can reuse one that you're already using for other things. The "channel cost" of keeping those in place is therefore only one channel.
