This Was a Messy Video Especially towards the last half when articulating my thoughts. I will make a video examining specific characters from this series (cough cough soldier boy) as well as lore and power rankings
I mean, if you look into certain situations Antony Starr has got himself involved with, the character isnt as far from the actor as you may think........
Soldier boy and herogasm were the highlights of that season. The end got so dumb because they've all been looking for a way to delete homelander, then when they find a guy that can do it, they all decide to turn on him. Made no sense.
By the end I was hoping Homelander would wipe them all out Especially Frenchie and Kimiko. They are annoying. I can't stand how Frenchie is such a whiney little punk.
I like the idea of instead of homelander dying he gets his powers stripped and has to live the rest of his life in a prison cell living a life like the people he despises to be
Yeah lol, fights an epic battle but they somehow manage him to take away his powers. This will give both sides what they want, homelander having a pathetic ending and homelander being a badass
I like that idea the best for ending Homelander's arc. I believe killing him is too simple of a way for him to go out. I'll take an all-out battle they blow their budget on as well tho, but some nuance would be appreciated
I agree: The Boys is starting to get "Walking Dead Syndrome" Negan should have either killed Rick or gotten killed. However since both characters have plot armor that would put the Hulkbuster to shame there's no tension.
What went wrong with the walking dead is when they killed off the Carl character, and then Rick (technically). The Walking Dead w/o Rick Grimes isn't The Walking Dead. Same goes for Yellowstone. Yellowstone w/o John Dutton isn't Yellowstone, I can't watch the show anymore.
@@abelingaw5070 It ironically got better without Rick IMO. It felt like there was no main character and that was a positive. The Negan arc was the worst arc the show had ever done.
@@abelingaw5070 It did, it just did after people checked out. Then it promptly got terrible again. It's almost like whenever Scott Gimple is working on the show, it's terrible. The dude is the Kathleen Kennedy of zombie media.
Many, many, many years ago after walking out of the Deadpool midnight premiere, I said “Hollywood will learn all the wrong lessons from the success of this picture. All these years later, I have yet to be proven wrong. The Boys is a prime example of precisely that. These days, they hit a home run and instead of focusing on what they did right, they simply repeat it and dial up the sex, violence and humor thinking that’s what worked when in fact, it’s the creative work behind it that drives success.
The problem isn't that the show got political. It's that it got ham fisted with it, and started making every single thing a 1:1 copy of headlines, rather than staying consistent with their own universe. This started in season 3, with the Blue Hawk scene in particular - Vaught would not have tolerated that kind of outburst unpunished on camera prior to that.
Yes and they even went out of their way to rewrite stuff just to make it fit. And just like reshoots that is a recipe for disaster. Also just because a movie is preoccupied with social justice doesn't make it woke. Do you know Philadelphia with Tom Hanks were he plays an AIDS riddled character? At no point of the movie did he start to preach. Even his lawyer is flawed and washes his hands after shaking Tom Hanks hand. Which is understandable because at the time HIV was not well understood. So even the characters supporting him were part of the problem but instead of depicting them as the worst thing ever the movie understood the fears and showed how they changed over time. It understood that this change is hard to do and that the irrational fears are valid despite being wrong. And that is what most woke movies don't get. Your messages can still be very clear without doing away completely with subtelty and consictency. The last one is the first to go if you start bending character according to the message you want to send. Also the word woke doesn't really well define it. I think Greg Owen put it best: It's performative diversity.
I always knew the show was making fun of all of us this was never a surprise as suggested, it's just that parody can't change reality so any good quality fair representation would just make certain people look cooler regardless of the creators opinions; we were only disappointed when the show put unfair representations over the quality and had the entire show meant to be like season four the entire time the show was only good because the staff were bad at their jobs they made a good show inspite of intent of staff not because of it. Just because you're the creator of a property doesn't mean you can warp reality, it's a idea called show don't tell if the public watches media and comes out with a different option it's not because of media illiteracy it's because you failed your job at showing them why it's worth believing in.
the thing i hated most about season 3 was hughie getting basically retconned to be an insecure coward again, ruining the entire foundation of his and annie’s relationship by making him say he did feel emasculated in the bowling scene
I think the main thing that made season 4 less impactful is that it felt safe. Every other season you felt tense around homelander because you felt he could kill any of the main characters at any moment which is why the best scenes in S4 were with A-train or the deep because they could actually die. We all know Huey or Starlight aren't gonna die
yes exactly! they made him gay for no reason! You dont go 3 seasons chasing the same girl, simping and then all of a sudden he's bottoming for a more masculine presenting guy...only to turn around and finally gets his kiss after he just had meat in his mouth....makes no sense. Women dont respect that. They call that DL lifestyle.
@@drag0..he’s not really gay though? Preference is on a spectrum for a lot of people and it’s pretty fluid. Why is that such a hard concept for people to get?
I don’t mind if he’s gay, straight, or bi, my problem with this subplot was it was just a deviation from what people wanted. People wanted Frenchie and Kimiko and then they opened acting like it would never happen for a random new relationship, only to seemingly go back on it. For what, to just extend the tension until season 5? I assume they just had no story for them in season 4 so this was their best shot.
It's funny because the first season, the best one, is the one that is closest to the comics. As the show continues, it deviates more and more and now we are getting into Game of Thrones territories.
As much as I WANT to agree, I see game of thrones as bigger at the time, there was SO many people watching and I was a hater from the outside. But when the last season came out, the amount of distain people had was insane and I loved it. So help me god if the boys fumbles THAT badly
@timemaster9552 GoT starts to go to shit after the 4th season. The only good thing in thw 5th season is the Hodor episode. Its not all great except the final season.
I will never understand why shows do that. They have a wealth of material to draw from, which I assume is what drew them to it in the first place, but decide to put their own spin on things. See MCU, DSW, etc
MY biggest issue with the TV series is that they chose not to use the twist involving Homelander and Black Noir from the comics. That would've worked SO WELL on TV.
I understand what you mean and I agree with that. However, I feel like or I might have seen (don't quote me on it) but they just wanted Homelander to be pure evil. Again, I absolutely agree with what you are saying, especially if the idea of making Homelander just purely irredeemable, but at certain points like towards the end of S3 when he told Ryan that Becca's death wasn't his fault, cared for his safety when Soldier Boy attacked as well. It's a weird line of things if I'm honest. But that twist would have been so cool and messed up as well
@@j_official4138and the clone is responsible for “Homelander’s” worst atrocities. Homelander ends up getting gaslit into thinking he did that crazy stuff and decides to lean into it only for him to eventually find out it wasn’t him. It’s wild.
The sad part of it is. that while it could have and can still work. they won’t do it because so many people complained about it and repeatedly drilled it into the writers head that it’s a shit idea and to never do it. people who have read the comics actively bring it up, and get shit on for even bringing back up the idea.
That quote makes no sense without prior context. But even with context the message is dumb. Essentially saying: “all I gotta do is just replace the word nazi, and then they’ll be ok with it” no, they won’t
All I know is the people who say Season 4 is the same as Season 1 in terms of tone are way off. It's almost like they got obsessed with making every single thing an allegory for a headline.
Take your glazer goggles off. He's too old. He'll be nearly 50 before he is put on screen. We want a long term batman. We need a batman that is between 36-40 in his first appearance
I'd absolutely love it if the show ended bleak as hell, Ryan tries to fight homelander can't and dies trying, his dad goes nuts and destroys the world. Pan out of him talking to a couple of volleyballs named after people sitting on a piece of the earth floating in space
I suspect Ryan's demise will either be the catalyst for Butcher to finally try to release the supe plague, or the cataylst to stop him from releasing the supe plague.
Well homelander has no longevity. Due to the fact that he had his powers since birth, they may have had to compromise on it just so he doesn't stay as a baby for eternity. Which means that even if the show did end that way, homelander would be a crazy old man that would still end up dying of his age.
The thing that drives me nuts about the season 2 finale is where did Maeve come from? Stormfront tore off flying at high speed, and Maeve just.. shows up. The only explanation would be A-Train but they never said.
Would be funny if Ryan straight up gets anihilated without laying a hand on Homelander as colleteral due to Homelander and Butchers fight, pushing them both over the edge.
the writers were always VERY woke. and that's what happened. no matter how talented woke people are, they absolutely lack self reflection. so several of the jabs they took against conservatives, were more suited as jokes against them. they made Todd as an ultimate conservative, yet all the negative traits they put on him are classic democrat values and traits. the same happens with other situations and characters. what happened now is that the showrunner was mad because he wanted conservatives to hate the show and he didn't got it, so they turned the wokeness to 50000, and now it isn't even funny for either side (not that liberals had sense of humor anyways).
Conservatives don't really have self reflection either. The only people who do are the ones who sit in the middle, because no one is convinced they are right will ever rethink their position.
@@newhybrid101not at all, I mean democrats lost the sauce entirely and have divorced reality but that doesn't take away from the problems on the conservative end. No one has a monopoly on crazy.
One thing that's always bothered me in movies etc, is a superhero can get shot by bullets and not even react. But then someone (not a super powered hero) punches them and they stagger. It's crazy.
It's the same thing that happened to the MCU. They got too successful they got too comfortable instead of focusing on making the best story possible they got their Jew fingers into the jam tainting it with their version of politically correct social commentary. I swear when I was noticing some of the allegories I thought they got the script straight from Reddit. They just couldn't hide their "wokeness" any longer.
The showrunner saw picture of someone dress up homelander in Trump rally and lost his shit that why season 4 its so obvious they were attacking one side
It was actually sickening to see how heavy handed this season was in regards to politics. I could give less than two f*cks about any political bollocks and to see theses dumbasses turn the show into their personal bitchfest honestly pissed me off.
@@VenViViris28 yes that's why the show sucks, they're attacking one side so much that even normal people on the other side are sick of it and thinks its shit.
Based on the comic and what they did so far, I predict the writers would do this: The final battle between the supes vs the US military....and Ryan goes berserk killing all sides forcing Buthcer to unleash the viral bomb all across the world, weakening and eventually killing all the supes, including Ryan. But the virus isn't enough to kill homelander only weakening him. As he defeat Buthcher and ready to laser him, Starlight's boyfriend shoot homelander with a 9mm pistol from the back.... killing a weakened homelander with a single bullet. He will be the only surviving member of the boys, just like in the comics.
I don't think that's really a valid criticism. He just did what Butcher does, which is do the extreme things nobody else is willing to do to accomplish his ideals
@ From a writers perspective, sure he’s just doing as created. As viewers perspective, we went into the fight expecting them to handle business, for soldier boy to put homerlander down or go out swinging. To only see that plan go to shit because of feelings. Our biggest hang up being why butcher? In any other situation you’d have act as a the monster you are, and would have saw this through. It shouldn’t matter if my criticism is valid. These things have already happened in fiction, and is simply my reaction to them. Now go validate your parking.
Maybe a great ending would be to have Starlight actually kill Homlander BUT she also has to destroy several other with him (A-Train, Billy blah blah) facing the same situation that Homelander talked about - what you do? Take out the treath and risk casulties or not?! And what point are you becomng evil? And just imagine Homlander smile at Starlight at the end KNOWING what her actions will mean to her soul, so even dead, he still wins. Best video I've seen about the show. And I totally share you sentiment, it's so far superior to anything Marvel. Especially the whole "Infinity War" that everyone was so hyped about is the worst storytelling I've seen in decades. Salute mate!
An ending of all “the boys” + the “good” supes going in on an unhinged homelander would be perfect. Maybe see the good guys fighting the few seven left, homelander gets attacked all over, and we see an annihilation from homelander; he lasers off A-Trains feet or legs, breaks starlights hands, kills (or greatly injures) everyone in his path. We could maybe get some great seven deaths from the wrath of The Homelander (as he doesn’t care about friend or foe at this point). Then we see a tired out homelander, with everyone injured or dead around him, and in comes Soldier boy, and you see him walk up to homelander and give him a hug… in comes the noise of soldier boys nuke as he says something like “we were always disappointments.” Boom
Well played sir…you nailed it. Feel like X men ‘97 and now Creature Commandos have upped the ante. Fewer episodes with more at stake. Having “main” characters die creates urgency and uncertainty….still not over Gambit lmao.
I don't disagree with any of this. Never read the comic so I can't say how much it follows or not but I feel they should have just made 2-3 very tight seasons with a resolution and this show would go down in history as great. Right now its something I don't even care to rewatch if I'm bored. It has the same issues most streaming shows do: Its too long and meandering, it spoils its best stuff by subverting expectations, the current day politics injected into the plots and it doesn't realize how small its own universe is (the Star Wars problem). The story is best when it follows the premise of how do a bunch of normal people kill superheroes with god like power. Thats it. thats all the stakes and motivations and story right there. Also, they totally wasted Aya Cash as Stormfront.
Honestly the politics have never been subtle in the series and as a republican I still love the series and I love how it pokes fun at both sides. And absolutely love it it's refreshing and I don't think it picks any political side I just think it pokes fun at the absurdity of both signs and I love it.
The comic depicted Stormfront as male- and a Nazi with similar goals as the tv counterpoint, except that he considered most of his teammates to be losers and scum. Inferior. The main issue I had was making Stormfront a love interest and Homelanders gf. Too much screwing with the original storyline to cater to modern social pressure and views. The best way would have been to just stick with the comic as faithfully as Watchmen did--that adaptation's changes, few as they were, although fairly major, made the ending tremendously better than the comic. The Boys started strong but is drowning in bullshit now. Woke pandering is ruining everything
The show was unable to create a political art so they downgraded the whole thing to make it a political project. There is still stuff that you would enjoy watching (primarily homelander which is hilarious because the writers want you to loathe him) but overall, it really does not have the same quality that it bore the first season.
The thing about homelanders possible way of dying is so true, they showcased enough of his pathetic childlike persona, at least in his final moments they have to unleash his full power and make him go out in an epic badass way.
Season four like it was missing everything and also this is a little bit of comp personal complaint but season four felt like butcher only had like five minutes of screen time compared to the other character characters like starlight, Homelander Hughey, and everyone else am I the one that feels this way?
I am a foreigner and I couldn't care less about your US politics. I just don't give a sh*t. Trump, wokeness etc. I simply do not care. My problem with S4 is that the writers KNEW the writing was horrible and deliberately used politics to get a crazy fanbase to defend it. The Tek Knight episode just got me ticked off.
I love content bro i only wish u go back to the old format, when u sit by a desk it feel like a pitch meeting for a show or movie but still keep up the good work
Homelander losing all of his powers, working at a 7-11 or something would be a far worse fate then him just dying, as many people have said before. I hope the writers go that route. If he has to die it would be funny if he's just killed off by some random guy one day after losing his powers.
Major respect to your level critical yet logical form of critiquing, while also trying to be as fair and unbiased as possible. I get the feeling that you could actually be a professional critique and at least I would probably trust your opinion. And If not so much that, I'd at least feel comfortable with your delivery of said *opinion being that it would be surprisingly closer to base reality than other critiques. At least In my opinion lol.
Great video, and I agree with nearly everything you're saying. Homelander getting killed off is weirdly kinda difficult because you need to show him as pathetic because that is in character. You also need to take it seriously because, like you said, he is the big bad and the story circles around him. Hopefully the final season will be good.
not all the things from the comics need or have been adapted on tv for a good reason.......the show picks and chooses what it wants to adapt from the comic clearly..and they adapted a boring plotline imo
@Cinemavigilante fair enough, but all things considered I kind of liked it. And I'm going to be honest I didn't finish your video because it clearly seems like you were going in the direction of it feels like they're getting political or poking at a specific side. And assuming that it was, and you can correct me if I was wrong, it always was. I don't know how people don't realize how obvious it was before. I mean I won't deny, it does feel like they're just beating it over our heads at this point with this recent season, but I think the writers or general creators of the show felt the need to beat it over our heads because there are people out there who still didn't get the fucking hints. It always was political. Homelander was always meant to poke fun at Trump and the show was always poking fun at conservatives. I just thought everybody knew. And don't get me wrong, they definitely poke fun at both sides. But the poker conservatives more. Which again I thought that was obvious. Now if I was wrong, feel free to correct me because I genuinely didn't care to watch the video any further. I mean don't get me wrong, usually I need to pick people for doing that. But I feel like I've been down this road so many times that I honestly didn't feel the need to hear it again. But this is assuming I was even on the mark.
@@HK47_115 oh no no i clearly say in the vid they always were this way its just more noticeable now because the storytelling itself is weaker then previous seasons. Its not bad storytelling becuz its shitting on one side and is woke, its bad storytelling because they're drawing out the conflict between homelander and the boys for too long to the point where things are getting stale now, and to make things interesting it feels like theyre doubling down on shock value and politics which isnt as interesting as it was before. I also find the shows mimicking of politics funny af personally it doesnt offend me at all. I dont mind homelander being the shows Trump, its funny and doesnt take away from the character.
@Cinemavigilante in that case then it's completely understandable. And honestly I agree, it does feel like it's being dragged and I agree on the doubling down on the politics which again, I believe it's because they're trying to beat the message into the head of the people who haven't gotten the point. Supposed to be this was stated in an article from an interview with the creators a while ago, but I can't remember too much of it and with the internet nowadays, I just take it with a grain of salt. But at the same time it kind of makes sense. An apology for not watching the video thoroughly through. It just felt like I've been down this rabbit hole before and I didn't feel the need to explore it again.
2:33 the fact that so many people accept this gender swapped scene from the comics 🤦🏾♂️ failing to realize this is also a valid argument against the show while only holding a candle to “boys get it done”. They even use the line MORE throughout the series after to make some stupid jab. It’s pathetic writing tbh
Can’t disagree with anything said here. Sad what they did with Black Noir in S3. Soldier Boy deserved way better and the power inconsistency in this show has gotten ridiculous.
Thank you for the breakdown, Slade Wilson! - we all appreciate it. Sister Sage is not needed "technically"....but the show was getting so dry that without Sister Sage and Komiko I think the interest level of this most recent season is absolute *MUSH*
I'm watching for home lander's redemption. I still have hope for the guy. Ever since Vegeta, I can't help loving redemption arches. I think Billy is going down a bad path and needs to see himself in homelander and vise versa for both of them to find peace.
@wiinterflowers95 What if he became a Christian, and then saved the world, then became a monk, then became like superman. Saving millions, would that be enough?
I totally agree with you, mate . Especially regarding Homelander's ending and how he goes out. They have to show exactly what they have all been terrified of throughout the story and why he is so feared. To show what he is capable of.
It's like, i understand changing the source material for the writing team because they want it to be airable on TV one of my biggest issues was the turn into diehard politics against trump and how multiculturalism -HAS- to be the future in america. once it started going super political instead of a deranged man trying to kill superheroes I tuned out, Gen V completely backed up my point on this if you check out the writing it's atrocious for even more reasons and that obviously started being written long after the boys. but that's just my opinion as a black american
Bro seriously where was the, "Fuck I need Coke right now!" as I could see it in your eye. Love your content mate keep it up your loyal sub from down under 🙃
Intersting, I personally liked that they made a 4th season. It would have been too quick and most likely cliff-hangery with just 4. We'll see what the 5th is like though, maybe it will meet and surpass expectations. Or perhaps lead to spinoffs.
Don't beat yourself up about the video being a tad bit messy, I thought it was great. Love the Deathstroke mask, got yourself a new subscriber. Personally, I'd have a depowered Homelander and Butcher fight it out to the death, maybe Soldier Boy can blast them both with his power dampener ability, if they don't ruin Soldier Boy to "own the chuds" by ruining his character.
I agree that season 1 was great but, man, some of the heavy overtones into that which will remain unnamed in the last season was offputting to a large degree. I know the comic series had it but I feel they just went a little too heavyhanded in that direction. I watch tv to escape from the real world, not have it reflected back into my entertainment. Edit: And i cant forgive the showrunners for butching what could have potentially been one of the most interesting characters in the show with Tek Knight. For that alone, they can take a long walk off a short plank, the hacks.
All I'll say is that it sucks when a entertaining show goes down the mud because of Hollywood being stupid. This show started off so damn good, and now we've reached a point where it doesn't even feel like it's worth watching any more. The show went from being entertaining to being annoying.
Burn notice is WAY underrated..the boys comic was pretty good and I like what he's doing to the show, but irredeemable is the pinical of "superman but evil" if yall like comics it's in my top 5 reads easily
Yeah, i like The Boys but i agree with your take on it, i have been having a lot of these problems with the show. Soldier Boy is one of the coolest characters, and better than anything the Comics ever done. But he gets beat in the worst fucking way, he was holding up his end, but gets half assed over. Homelander is one of the best villains of all time imo, him and Butcher always carry the show, now that Soldier Boy is back it's on overdrive. One of the weirdest scenes in season 4 was the vent scene, because Homelander should've been able to kill Hughie easily. Plot Armour saves him. There's funnily enough a lot of that in season 4. I honestly hope Homelander doesn't go out in the most shittest way possible as you said, i agree that he should be winning till he doesn't. At this point i kinda entertain Homelander winning, but him and Butcher kill each other or something. But if we follow a lot of things that has happened through out the show, it's just gonna be something that gets everyone mad, and then there's gonna be people saying "Oh well you probably like Donnie, that's why you are mad" "slay queen go girl boss starlight"
I don't have problem with the TV show as much as actors are constantly preach about politics, etc... But yeah, I agree with what you said. This reminds me just like Game of Thrones. It was amazing until the last season after they switched the directors.
Homelander is what happens when a villain is well written and well acted and the show runner wants said villain to be an avatar for something he hates. You lose objectively good plot points and writing for trying to stick “the message”.
my criticisms for the boys season 4: (to say it from the start i still think it was a good season but at the same time the show's worst) obviously spoilers firstly showide problem: None in the main cast has died, i would get it if homelander wanted to break them or sth but he just doesnt kill them despite everyone knowing he could easily do it in a split second -season 4: >frenchy's storyline was boring and a bit anti-climatic he was set up with kimino but he is sleeping with someone he killed the parents of? like there wasnt any better way to show him regret his past? >grace's death is the dumbest thing i have ever seen >the final episode was... killing neuman to introduce a gen*cide virus for supes and have butcher be allien or sth is dumb They had a very good set up to beat homelander or at the very least expose him (wich would lead into him going wild but they could bring back soldier boy or butcher on a suicide mission with compount V) but now the only path i see that can be a good ending story wise is the boys stopping butcher and homelander winning
I think Ryan is going to ask Soldier Boy to depower him willingly. It seems most in-line with Becca's wish for him to just be a sweet normal kid if she had her choice. The kid has only caused death and destruction each time he's ever used his powers. We already know someone like Maeve can be permanently depowered by Solider Boy without her body being obliterated. I just don't see Ryan siding with Homelander or Butcher at this point
I do agree they should make Homelander go out like a G and I honestly would love to see Starlight beat his ass I’d like to see them go at it the way Superman and Zod did in Man Of Steel straight mayhem and destruction all the way to the end of the fight if anything regardless of how people feel about it Starlight deserves to be the one triumphant over Homelander
Anthony Starr will be forever imortalized as the legend he is. Homelander isn't a performance. it's a legendary masterpiece we absolutely don't deserve. They should end him with dignity or not even try. I don't care about the politics of it all but definitely would love a dark thrilling ending that encapsulates the legendary aspects of what made the boys so epic and bleak. Also, Jensen Ackles will be forever immortalized as the goated legend he is. He absolutely makes his roles legendary and epic. In the end, we all shall see..(Thank you for your insights. You are an absolute legend, my friend. You are the epic reviewer we need right now but not the one we deserve. An absolute goat reviewer, my friend)

Interesting point
@@EbonyPope I disagree, cuz, I think you’re conflating the term woke with progressive. What you described is progressive, not necessarily woke
@rohdger3390 Yes that was exactly the point of my comment.
@@EbonyPope really. Then I interpreted your Philadelphia comparison as you stating it’s woke when it’s not
I always knew the show was making fun of all of us this was never a surprise as suggested, it's just that parody can't change reality so any good quality fair representation would just make certain people look cooler regardless of the creators opinions; we were only disappointed when the show put unfair representations over the quality and had the entire show meant to be like season four the entire time the show was only good because the staff were bad at their jobs they made a good show inspite of intent of staff not because of it.
The Frenchy arc suuuuuucked. And they shoe-horned that shit so hard
Yeah they made him gay for no reason and ruined his character development
yes exactly! they made him gay for no reason!
@@CoryPchajekbruh that’s not even the point 😂
I don’t mind if he’s gay, straight, or bi, my problem with this subplot was it was just a deviation from
what people wanted.
Its not all great except the final season.
your comment suggest that the comics are good
@ManHamLym as days go on, especially after the last season, more and more people are saying that 🤷🏾♂️
I will never understand why shows do that.
But that twist would have been so cool and messed up as well
What twist?
@@chefboiardeeznutz9881 in the comics black noir is a clone of homelander created to end homelander in case he ever went crazy.
God i love this guy, sometimes i think he's off and maybe weird but man he's just unapologetically got that energy behind him 🔥

"they love what i have to say, they just hate the word Nazi"
most poignant thing said in the entire show.
wow... sooo deep
That quote makes no sense without prior context. But even with context the message is dumb. Essentially saying: “all I gotta do is just replace the word nazi, and then they’ll be ok with it” no, they won’t
@rohdger3390You must not be paying much attention to modern politics to think that.
The producers didn't really know what they wanted to do halfway through S3 and it really shows.
All I know is the people who say Season 4 is the same as Season 1 in terms of tone are way off. It's almost like they got obsessed with making every single thing an allegory for a headline.
To be fair it was an election year and the establishment had to use every means to insult the right.
Jensen Ackles needs to be The DCU Batman if not he should definitely the DCU Midnighter of the Authority
Fuck yes please!
Take your glazer goggles off. He's too old. He'll be nearly 50 before he is put on screen. We want a long term batman. We need a batman that is between 36-40 in his first appearance
That is a great Idea I did not know that I wanted.

I don't know what it is but he's different different and I like it❤
Why does the deathstroke mask look so cool in real life, that thing is literally ripped straight from the comics
Homelanders death is going to be him crying and begging on his knees not to be killed.
I'd absolutely love it if the show ended bleak as hell, Ryan tries to fight homelander can't and dies trying, his dad goes nuts and destroys the world. Pan out of him talking to a couple of volleyballs named after people sitting on a piece of the earth floating in space
For reals. I caught the last ten minutes and it depressed me for *TWO DAYS* straight!
I suspect Ryan's demise will either be the catalyst for Butcher to finally try to release the supe plague, or the cataylst to stop him from releasing the supe plague.
@@BlazingOwnager I think he might stop him. Grace getting iced was what pushed him over the edge and Ryan's MIA since the finale.
Well homelander has no longevity. Due to the fact that he had his powers since birth, they may have had to compromise on it just so he doesn't stay as a baby for eternity. Which means that even if the show did end that way, homelander would be a crazy old man that would still end up dying of his age.

the writers were always VERY woke. and that's what happened. no matter how talented woke people are, they absolutely lack self reflection. so several of the jabs they took against conservatives, were more suited as jokes against them.
they made Todd as an ultimate conservative, yet all the negative traits they put on him are classic democrat values and traits. the same happens with other situations and characters.
what happened now is that the showrunner was mad because he wanted conservatives to hate the show and he didn't got it, so they turned the wokeness to 50000, and now it isn't even funny for either side (not that liberals had sense of humor anyways).
Conservative= Good and healthy person

You're doing Burn Notice?! About damned time that show gets some love! Can't wait!
One thing that's always bothered me in movies etc, is a superhero can get shot by bullets and not even react. But then someone (not a super powered hero) punches them and they stagger. It's crazy.
I have a theory that the entire fight that took place in the office in season 4 was a last-minute addition because they had absolutely no fights.
The showrunner saw picture of someone dress up homelander in Trump rally and lost his shit that why season 4 its so obvious they were attacking one side
is that actually why?
It was actually sickening to see how heavy handed this season was in regards to politics. I could give less than two f*cks about any political bollocks and to see theses dumbasses turn the show into their personal bitchfest honestly pissed me off.

You're absolutely correct. Homelander is lightning in a bottle. The episode with him in the lab in S4 was the highlight
Soldier Boy doing the Solid Gold promos and his obsession with old women is one of the funniest character attributes in all of tv...
🐐
Based on the comic and what they did so far, I predict the writers would do this:
The final battle between the supes vs the US military....and Ryan goes berserk killing all sides forcing Buthcer to unleash the viral bomb all across the world, weakening and eventually killing all the supes, including Ryan.
The finale was bad because butcher flipped mid fight. Was a huge wtf moment
If they redeem A-train enough to be a weapon for good (nevermind the comic) I think it could make for an interesting finale
Well played sir…you nailed it. Feel like X men ‘97 and now Creature Commandos have upped the ante. Fewer episodes with more at stake. Having “main” characters die creates urgency and uncertainty….still not over Gambit lmao.
Shoutout to you for mentioning Deucalion … he was great in Teenwolf S3 and they gave him the worst ending in S6, they wasted him completely.
And absolutely love it it's refreshing and I don't think it picks any political side I just think it pokes fun at the absurdity of both signs and I love it.
i agree, i find alot of it hilarious tbh
I definitely want to see your video on Burn Notice.
I’d be interested on your thoughts on Bruce Campbell.
I feckin love him.
The noticeable drop off in season 4 is the lack of soldier boy. Everyone loved that character so much that without him we were whining
"One night in a hotel with Maeve or world peace. Id pick world peace but Id really think about it". Absolute chad
What they did to Hughie made me stop with the show!

Season one was great, season 2 was variable, feel it works better when more grounded while weird stuff happens. But more of it could have worked.
Homelander losing all of his powers, working at a 7-11 or something would be a far worse fate then him just dying, as many people have said before. I hope the writers go that route. If he has to die it would be funny if he's just killed off by some random guy one day after losing his powers.
I'm happy you're covering this
Major respect to your level critical yet logical form of critiquing, while also trying to be as fair and unbiased as possible.
Who wants to tell this guy that stormfront was a Nazi even in the comic book?
not all the things from the comics need or have been adapted on tv for a good reason.......the show picks and chooses what it wants to adapt from the comic clearly..and they adapted a boring plotline imo

“Oh no, a show I like didn’t have the exact same story line that I imagined it should! How can I go on?”

Season 4 isn’t bad because it fell off its bad because they purposefully made the season slow to build up season 5
Homelander is what happens when a villain is well written and well acted and the show runner wants said villain to be an avatar for something he hates. You lose objectively good plot points and writing for trying to stick “the message”.

>frenchy's storyline was boring and a bit anti-climatic he was set up with kimino but he is sleeping with someone he killed the parents of? like there wasnt any better way to show him regret his past?
>grace's death is the dumbest thing i have ever seen
>the final episode was... killing neuman to introduce a gen*cide virus for supes and have butcher be allien or sth is dumb
They had a very good set up to beat homelander or at the very least expose him (wich would lead into him going wild but they could bring back soldier boy or butcher on a suicide mission with compount V) but now the only path i see that can be a good ending story wise is the boys stopping butcher and homelander winning
9:41 I did not think of that at all! He's a parody of Venom!?
Zaffy- Look at this picture!
Me listening in the shower: 😐😅
🤣
