It's often been said that Mr Vai has no genuine feel for the blues, or even jazz for that matter. Well, there's enough here for all but the purists in each genre to maybe reconsider that point of view. Possibly the omission of a Floyd Rose every now and again keeps trills (et cetera) in check and lends a more restrained vibe to his resultant output. If that be the case, maybe this guitar in question should become more of a full time fixture in the Vai repertoire. All told, a great pleasure to see and hear. Well done, uploader indeed!
When I went to see Zappa Plays Zappa on the first tour in 2006 (Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio in the band) the audience did the same thing. Absolutely refused to quit flapping their yaps the whole time. Very annoying.
His birthday version in the studio is one of the most fascinating guitar tunes I ever heard.
