Btw the main selling point of the GAN cube *is* actually that the magnets are really long. That allows for some pretty cool features, like for example if you misalign the cube even by a lot, it will just...snap back.
Honestly it doesn't seem too different from the 11 M Pro, which also snaps back from a wide range of angles. These core magnets are a little bit stronger, combined with slightly less friction in the pieces.
@@ButteryCubes Yeah, wait...is it really a coincidence that the 2x2 that also had that system was called the "gan 251 M *leap*"? I think "leap" might be the name of this new system
I think other than the 6x6, this is probably the biggest innovation in twisty puzzle history. One could argue that rounded off corners and edges were the biggest, but that didn’t happen overnight, it was slowly phased in, but this is out of nowhere. We are literally seeing a change of a major component that is (and has always been) used in every twisty puzzle ever. I don’t think people realize how big of a change this is.
From a mechanical perspective, yeah, it is pretty fascinating. On a practical level, it's also more useful than people give it credit for, but it's altogether not as big of a change to the way people use their cubes as, say, corner/edge magnets.
