I’ve heard the liquid looks dark on these normally. Factory recommends a fluid change at 150K miles but folks in the know recommend doing this every 30K miles. Similar intervals recommended for the Power Transfer Unit and the rear differential on AWD units.
My customers that are serious about taking care of their transmissions i change the fluid every two years and have some customers that I have changed their fluid two or three times and it looks as good now as it did six years ago
