This show could only be aired in England. Over here in the States, Status Quo were completely overlooked, except for their early recodings of "Pictures of Matchstick Men", and "Ice in the Sun". Roy Wood was totally ignored, except for his work with ELO. Kim Wilde only had two songs to crack the Top 40. For the past few years, I have been trying to catch up.
Kim's favorite song You Came did hit #41. Should've been a huge hit, but it did make me a Kim Wilde fan here in Deep South USA. I became a huge fan a couple of years ago. So many excellent songs, especially from 81 to 92. Say You Really Want Me came close to Top 40 also. I think she looked amazing in performances for that song in particular!
Wow Kim Wilde, Quo total legends...never heard of Roy Wood until now.. I will add one gripe.. Andy Bown has been with Quo since Moses wore a nappy but never gets any recognition.. Maybe he prefers it that way? Response to video only.
Francis makes a point of it a few times in his most recent autobiography that him and Rick are Status Quo, as far as record companies, live agencies, all media and (so he reckons) the general public are concerned. Status Quo the 'brand' (he uses the word reluctantly), is him and Rick.
