I've never subscribed or added a comment to any video I've watched, but I felt compelled to let you know how much I appreciate this video. It was just what we needed, and it is magnificent, and I passed it along to my husband. I'm sure you have many ideas and knowledge to share, and you could probably advise us on many of our various projects. Too bad you don't live near us. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks so much for sharing! This is a fantastically creative and simple way to put these together, and the wood grain is so spot on I'd never be able to tell it's not real wood.
That is awesome! I’ve been thinking about styrofoam beams in my home and wondering if it’s just a crazy idea. But I must admit I never thought about scuffing it with a wire brush and coating it. I was going to glue a thin veneer to it. This is a genius level idea you have! Thanks for pushing me to do it!
For seams running the length of the beam I didn’t do anything to hide them I just had the bottom piece cap over the sides because you’ll be looking at the beams from underneath, for the seams where pieces meet you can do caulk or silicone and paint over, or if the seams are tight enough and your paint is thick enough it’ll probably cover it
Skill saw or miter saw works, just gotta be careful because it likes to bind more than normal wood, or use a utility knife and put a straight edge on it.
Ive watched many videos on this subject you are the only one who used CHALK PAINT was that in one coat. was any other painting done?sir you eliminated the many steps others have painstakingly gone through what seems like you accomplished so casually instructed. any chance a close up on your technique with another video .THANK YOU
Yes I did, I just used one by common board and made the top look like a big header, then 4x4 southern yellow pine for the two angle “braces” and stained it.
Depending on inside measurements of beams you could use 2 ft sections of 2x6 or 2x4 to join them together, just put them on the inside and send some screws into them. It won’t take much to hold them together since they’re so light, I’ve had mine up for almost half a year and they are still holding as good as the day I put them up.
I understand! 2x6s just have a larger surface area to hit with a screw but I get what you’re saying, might even be able to do it all with 18 gauge trim nailer!
This foam is highly flammable. Buildings no codes require foam boards to be covered by drywall. Exposed foam like this could also impact your house insurance. Try a better less flammable material. Sorry for the buzz kill.

Thank you! I’ve thought about making more videos but I’m not really sure what diy things people would like to see.
How do you cut the foam board? Table saw? Knife? Hot wire?
Thanks so much for sharing! This is a fantastically creative and simple way to put these together, and the wood grain is so spot on I'd never be able to tell it's not real wood.
This is my kind of budget . Nice work!
Definitely gonna do this. Thanks for sharing.
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much for sharing.
Genius!!! Love it!!!

Good job.
Love this...
awesome video !!!
Love it! How did you hide the seams??? It looks like one continuous beam?
For seams running the length of the beam I didn’t do anything to hide them I just had the bottom piece cap over the sides because you’ll be looking at the beams from underneath, for the seams where pieces meet you can do caulk or silicone and paint over, or if the seams are tight enough and your paint is thick enough it’ll probably cover it
@@hunterchalke5465 Okay, one more thing....What is the best way to cut this foam so you get a nice clean edge?
Skill saw or miter saw works, just gotta be careful because it likes to bind more than normal wood, or use a utility knife and put a straight edge on it.

How did you join the foam to make it longer than 8'?
Awesome! Now I want to know about that wood trim around the opening between the rooms. Did you do that as well? If so, how?
Yes I did, I just used one by common board and made the top look like a big header, then 4x4 southern yellow pine for the two angle “braces” and stained it.
How do you cut the sheets straight and clean?
Hi can you make a video of how to put these on the ceiling ?
Did he ever answer?
My curling is 21 feet any time Recommendation on how to join them if they r only 8 feet long?
Depending on inside measurements of beams you could use 2 ft sections of 2x6 or 2x4 to join them together, just put them on the inside and send some screws into them. It won’t take much to hold them together since they’re so light, I’ve had mine up for almost half a year and they are still holding as good as the day I put them up.
How did you hide the seams? I want to run entire length of my cathedral ceiling. Wood filler and sand or???
Wood putty or caulk or fast dry sheet rock mud will work. Or if you get the seams tight enough paint will hide it.
i missed that part on video on how to attach to the ceiling .., bad conection 😊😊
Make Miters Great Again!
I would use 1x6 instead of 2”x6 would be easier to work.
I understand! 2x6s just have a larger surface area to hit with a screw but I get what you’re saying, might even be able to do it all with 18 gauge trim nailer!
This is fcking brilliant I’m doing this!
I wish your window blind was closed so would be more clear. But thank you

I appreciate the comment! But this is foam insulation board that is to be used inside homes, crawl spaces, and attics!
Hi can you make a video of how to put these on the ceiling ?
I’m in the process of trying to get my house sold, but as quick as I can get things settled I can do that. Might be a week or two.
