I should also stress - while the winner gets an automatic series within weeks, other high ranking games could well get future series too, just as XCOM 2 did after the last Democracy Week, even though it didn't win. Basically, it is very worthwhile advocating for your favourite game even if you're not sure it can win, as the 2nd and 3rd place games could be well very placed for a series in future, especially as there's only one contest this year...
As many comments as there are about how hard it will be to choose, I have no such issue. Morrowind. I find dialogue-heavy games awful to watch and I despise how Total War changed after Medieval II. But that's just me, I guess.
Me before Democracy week: I love Democracy. Me after Democracy week, when the game I like didn't win: So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.
Worldwide Opinion Reputable Machinal Supercalculator 2024: Kamala Harris: "I sent all of them flying into the water - Not just The Wealthy... but The Workforce, and The Children, too!"
Putting Morrowind, Baldur's Gate, and Witcher 3 in the same poll is tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment. What next, choose which one of your children you want to save?
@@that_leaflet As long as it's one of those 3 or ME3 I'm happy enough..... so we have about 23 hours to work out how to force an exact tie between the 4 of them! Tactical voting is the way
Agreed. I'd be disappointed if neither of these wins. They're just so well made, all of them. Morrowind has a special place in my heart because of childhood memories, but Witcher 3 is straight up my favorite (action) RPG of all time. BG3 is a class of its own, and should definitely be considered among the top 5 games of all time.
Morrowind would be a fascinating series. It`s main appeal would be somewhat similar to that of Oblivion - seeing Jon play in the typical sandbox of a of a Bethesda game, but in a world he is completely unfamiliar with and experiences for the very first time. While the game is pretty old at this ponint, the world itself more than holds up. There is a reason this game saved Bethesda and lay the foundation for everything that has come since. This series would also provide an interesting perspective on the design of Bethesda games. Morrowind was the first game of it`s kind for Bethesda and given that Jon has played literally every other Bethesda game since, it could give him the opportunity to make some interesting observations and comaprisons. Last but not least - the story. People often shit on Bethesda writing as if their games could have many great aspects, but the story is never one of them. I find Morrowind the forgotten counter argument to this belief as it`s main quest is one of my favourites in all of gaming. I genuinely think it`s a mastepiece and seeing Jon experience it for the first time would be absolute joy.
Morrowind is the game we all point to to say "this is what we could have had." Sure, the game isn't balanced and there's a lot of ways to break it, but it allows you to actually play your way in a cool world with good and consistent writing and world-building. Every game since has dumbed every aspect of this down. Sure, they've sold more copies, but how much of that is due to marketing and how much is actually because of the direction they took the games? (I'm pretty sure basically all the writers for Morrowind and before are gone now though, so that's part of the issue. The current writing doesn't seem to consider the consequences of events particularly carefully most of the time now, and this is especially obvious in Starfield.)
By Gwyn, and the directions given to you are often terrible. I remember doing a quest where I had to go to a farmer and help them out. The quest giver said it was just down the road, past a few hills. Little did I know it was practically on the other side of the map. To be fair, but not really, it was past a few (hundred) hills.
It’s got to be Shogun 2. Total war games get the best out of Jon. Let the man role play over generations and discover the the samurai equivalent of Julianus Vatinius
Desperately pitching for Morrowind, not only does it have the incredibly silly spell crafting with none of the limiters they steadily put in over Oblivion and Skyrim, it's just such a wild and wonderful world to explore with so many cool environments and interesting situations to come across. The characterisation is a bit thin, most of the NPCs are little more than wiki pages, but we're not here to watch Jon sit silently while NPCs talk at him, we're here for his shenanigans and commentary so it's a better fit for the channel than something more character heavy.
It has to be Shogun 2. It HAS to be. Jon’s Rome and ME2 series are two of his most classic series that I have rewatched multiple times, historical Total War (besides Fallout!) is where this channel shines and while I would genuinely love to watch him play BG3 and Witcher 3 a Shogun series will be a new classic MATN series. I literally had a start when he said Shogun was an option. An amazing fucking game. Side note: this list is tearing me apart, so many good options to pick between. Absolutely brutal. Sucks too that games like the Witcher and BG3 are so fucking long that if they win that’s all the channel will be for like a year: a Shogun campaign would be done in a few months and we may be watching Baldur’s Gate by Christmas.
I genuinely cannot think of a single creator on RUclips I want to watch playing BG3, more than Many A True Nerd. I think the utter freedom the game allows for works wonderfully well with Jon's love of trying to do basically whatever he wants. In most games, doing wacky, creative stuff shows the boundaries of the game, but in BG3, you can just do almost anything you want. It's going to be hilarious to watch, fun to play, and I just want to see which companions end up getting used.
BG3 will let Jon play out the most wildest and whacky schemes ever possible in RPG. Plus truly impactful decisions with fantastic and fleshed out companions. Then the stunning graphics, character designs and a beautifully written story to top it off.
Honestly, the depth and complexity of Morrowind's various systems is so perfect for Jon. The game gets so wild, and pairing that with Jon's chaotic madness? It'd be a match made in heaven. And that's not even getting the fact that there are NO essential NPCs... Or the fact that you can go around stealing everyone's pillows to literally build pillow forts anywhere in the world.
Abso-cocking-lutely should you play Morrowind. Not only is the Magic bloody bananas; a thing I learned early on is that there's technically no cap to Power Attack power. Like hold the button down for 15 minutes and you could theoretically one-shot anyone. It's just about getting somewhere where they aren't moving or attacking you during that time. The image, if you think of it while reading this, of a particular rude NPC sitting at their desk writing up shipping forms or eating their soup while some naff with a Spear stands behind them winding up while other NPCs walk around and do their generic dialogue like "Be careful with that." "Darn Stiltstriders prices have gone up again and I'll walk to the next settlement." etc. is just so funny
1 strategy game (Shogun 2) vs a bunch of RPGs... please, Jon, even if one of the RPGs wins, you should do a Total War campaign alongside it! Your loyal Samurai call for you to lead them into battle!
Making a case for Dragon Age II here. Not only will you be back in Thedas, but it introduces some of the best characters in the series, including a certain author of sexy detective stories. And there's chest hair.
It's also BY FAR the shortest possible of the RPGs mentioned. So we can get it AND Witcher 3 or Morrowind. (Or BG3 but I don't want that yet to avoid spoilers before I play it myself)
All of these are great! Love to see any one of these. I have a personal affinity to Shogun 2, as I was having a terrible game, bad shogun, and assigned a random guy to lead a fleet of canon ships to wreck everyone else's Navy. He did a great job, brought in desperately needed money and ranked up pretty fast. However, I was still just barely holding my lands together with an unpopular leader. That leader dies after a few more turns, and that's when I finally realize the admiral was the shogun's son. Instant popularity boost, troop moral, and long victory with a blitzkrieg of riflemen. This was well over 10 years ago, but I still remember this. I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.
Mass Effect 3: The final Priority Earth mission was an order of magnitude tougher for me than any other mission in the series, and that was on normal difficulty. It would be amazing to watch Jon navigate the final Thanix Missile Battery holdout on Insanity.
Pretty sure I had more trouble in ME1 and 2 than 3... but I really don't remember. I just know Andromeda is the only one I never finished a 2nd/Insanity playthrough of because 1) it was the most boring/least different story, and 2) it had my least favorite gameplay.
The same applies to Morrowind and Witcher 3, though. They're all amazing, MASSIVE, content-filled games. Honestly, though I'm unsure BG3 and Jon's playstyle are the best fit, I'll still be excited to watch any that wins.
I'm choosing Morrowind because I can't enjoy playing old, janky games by myself the way that I can enjoy playing a game like Baldur's Gate 3, Mass Effect 3, and Witcher 3. Seeing Jon struggle with the game's age so I don't have to sounds entertaining. His Oblivion series was one of my favorite. Jon's commentary is just perfect for the wacky, buggy world of Bethesda games.
Gotta make my case for Morrowind in terms of ludicrousness for magic its by far the best of the series. there are far fewer limits to what can be acieved with stacking potions and spells. Jump across the entire map in a single bound, summon an army of daedra and undead by making a bunch of spells that summon that creature with one character difference in the spell name and casting them in sequence, drink a bunch of booze that fortifies strength and hit a person so hard both the person and your weapon are destroyed.
Tough choice between it and Shogun, but Morrowind is a game I've always wanted to see played all the way through, but never had the focus to play myself. Like, it's been held up by the generation before mine as one of the best, most deeply-written RPGs ever, even by the standards of some modern games. After all these years, I wanna see what the damn fuss is about.
I've never gotten all that far into the story, but that's because you can just run around doing whatever you want. Unlike Oblivion, enchanting is done in your inventory menu and is available as soon as you get any soul gems. It can be hysterically broken. I've got a friend who used to make an Armageddon spell capable of depopulating entire cities in one strike. And that's only one system.
The first two Mass Effect series are why I subscribed I forgot how long ago. It's Painful for me to vote against The Witcher III because its MY favorite game of all time. But the fact that ME seems to be YOUR favorite game of all time is why it was so enjoyable watching you play it, and I'd love to see you finish the trilogy on the channel.
Glad to see someone else with the same thoughts. I loved the original ME 1 play through, the biotics only runs, the insanity run, the legendary run, all of it. Absolutely amazing times. I also think that some of the games on this list, like Baldur's Gate 3 and Morrowind will absolutely sneak their way into follow up series regardless if they win or not. Normally, I'd vote for Morrowind, because I genuinely want to see it on here, but given it'll probably get its turn, and that Mass Effect 3 is no where near as long as the other games (and will be a much shorter series meaning the others will come up pretty quickly), I feel like I have to give it a vote to give it a chance.
I've been watching Jon play games for almost a decade, and for most of that time I've been begging him to play The Witcher 3. It is in my opinion the best rpg from its generation, with deep interesting characters inhabiting a living, varied world. The city of Novigrad still holds the crown for the most complete and well-made city in any fantasy game. ... Which is why it pains me to say that I think everyone should vote for Baldur's Gate 3. In addition to all the wonderful things about that game that a million reviewers have already expressed better than I can, it is a game that feels made for Jon. The best part of any let's play on this channel is to see Jon find creative solutions to problems and carve his own path through a story. BG3 is a game that not only allows that without breaking down, but actively encourages it and adapts to even the most outlandish circumstances. It would be a series for the ages!
I'm right there with you, TW3 is my absolute favourite game, I'd love to see it, but BG3 would just work somehow better as a series with Jon's chaos and style
W3 is not a living world. Almost all NPCs are rooted to the spot and have no day/night cycle. And all objects are nailed down. And every fight against a particular type of enemy plays out exactly the same way every time according to your build, and there is no use of the environment in tackling enemies. And Geralt can't climb up a river bank I could in real life.
He shouldn't skip Witcher 1 though. It's the biggest tragedy of how good Witcher 3 was is that people keep skipping Witcher 1 purely because of the way that it looks
Dragon Age 2 gets a bad rap from the DA fanbase, because it was made in a little over a year, resulting in very little map variety. But what it lacks in locations it makes up for in story. This isn’t an RPG about saving the world, it’s about a groups of ****-ups, running around a city that’s constantly catching fire. It’s about some of the best written and messiest characters in fiction, and about a whole host of horrible blood mages that Jon can try and apologise for. It deserves it’s time in the sun.
Weirdly enough, that never bothered me, though that could be map variety was an issue in the original Mass Effect. The mainline missions were great, but having only four maps used for dozens of side quests got tedious after a while. Didn't stop it being a great game though.
Yes! I think Jon's generally positive attitude would be especially great for DA2- its got its rough edges, but if anyone could see the fantastic bits underneath, it's him.
it's an incredibly written game, and surprisingly bleak for bioware. it's a lot closer to an obisidian game that way - down to the lack of time and polish they were able to give it. absolutely worth a look, and i'd be particularly excited to see what jon brings to the series as a classicist, since so much of the stories in the game are drawing more from ancient greek tragedies than they are more modern ones
Jon this is a crime of epic proportions, how can you bring in all of these long requested games and then make us choose only one to make a series out of?
I believe that in the past he has said that there's a good chance of high-ranking not-winners getting series at some point after the winner, but it's not guaranteed.
@@J624 yeah we know but we want all of them at the same time please 🥺 we need to get the STEMs of the MATN community together to invent some epic energy drink with which Jon could make this happen!! just joking of course, Jon is a human and needs his rest and time to cuddle with Ted and the kitties but *argh!* i want to see him play all of them, right now!
Absolutely incredibly difficult choices. Really hoping we can see some of several of these. The main point I got however was that the next series will not be a disappointment
DRAGON AGE 2!!! I would absolutely love to hear Jon’s thoughts on the changes to gameplay and world design. It was a game I didn’t get the first time I tried to play it, probably because of how much I loved DA:O, but DA2 quickly grew on me.
Okay, I wasn't going to state my piece, but I've been scrolling though the comments and I've barely seen any raised hands for Mass Effect 3. This is what I'm voting for. Why? Because I discovered Jon though his Fallout NV YOLO run at a time when I had just finished NV and thought that a YOLO run was impossible. By watching him play, I learned so much more about NV than I did through my play though, and that goes for so many games. I've learned more about, not just the mechanics of Fallout, Skyrim, etc, but all of the little story and character things I missed. I want to continue that experience and complete the Mass Effect franchise. TLDR; I enjoy listening to Jon's depth of knowledge on video games that I've played and want to hear him talk about the last game in one of the best trilogies of all time. A series that I love and cannot believe doesn't exist in some form on the channel.
My vote has to be for Shogun 2. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore most of the games on this list. However, I think Jon really comes to life when playing total war games and his skills and creativity are on full display. I can enjoy most of these games on my own playing them myself, but I will never enjoy playing a total war game as much as I enjoy watching Jon play them
Jon is the soul reason I got into the Total War series. He's the only reason I know it exists, and is a massive reason why I saved two years to buy a gaming PC to run the games well. When I see he's doing a Total War series, I buzz like fuck.
Damn that's a good argument. Was leaning slightly for BG3 but now... I got hooked on this channel by the first Rome campaign, and I truly love all the total war and stellaris series Oh noooo, why is this so hard!
I have tried Shogun 2 multiple time b_ut it's the only total war game where i systematically loose the campaign because the AI is actually really smart and ALWAYS attack you the moment you move your troops from one region to another. It's actually pretty hard.
I'll be happy with every single one of these as a new series. But Morrowind is my vote. I'd love to see the shenanigans he gets into, and I never had the patience to play through the game myself as a kid
Jon would absolutely fucking LOVE Dragon Age II, I doubt it'll win but oh man - I can't wait for the day Jon plays it. It's a game that took a limited dev time, and instead of focusing on things like art assets, new areas, things like that - they focused on writing the HELL out of the story. Honestly, out of all of Bioware's games - it has the most developed relationships with your companions. The game takes place over seven years, and your companions have lives - outside of you! It's so good. Oh and you all remember how much Jon's opinion developed and changed on Blood Magic and the drama THAT entailed? Well hooooooo boy will Dragon Age 2 play with that. And I mean come on, we need Jon to play II and then Inquisition so he can dive into Veilguard.
Yeah, it's pretty much the only game I'm actively waiting for him to play but it's never going to win one of these things, unfortunately. Especially not against competition this tough.
The great thing about how Jon runs these democracy weeks is that he pays attention to the votes overall, not just the winner in the end. That winner will be the first to get a series, but in the past, runners up have also eventually gotten a series. So if we show up for DA2, that should increase the odds that Jon gives it a shot down the line!
Ooooohhhhh. Baldur's Gate 3. I've been playing D&D and other tabletop games for a while now, and I think it would be so fun to see someone playing Baldur's Gate, learning about and falling in love with the gane.
I cant believe they let Evil Jon make the polls, this is most cruel. My vote will always go to Morrowind. When you get over the initial shock of the somewhat aged presentation of the combat and other minor differences of modern games, Morrowind is easily one of the richest games of all time. The lore, the story, THE POLITICS oh gods can you imagine the rants regarding the different factions and moral dilemmas it would be soo good.
All good choices. My go-to pick is Morrowind. Beyond the reasons Jon stated, I think it has the most fascinating story in the series, and I think Jon's narrative style would fit really REALLY well with discovering it. But I will also support Dragon Age 2. It has a few mechanical and narrative shortcomings, but it's still my favorite in the series, with some of my favorite characters. Very few RPGs have done as good a job making me feel so invested in a setting.
@@Paradox-es3bl That's an excellent suggestion! I'm fully expecting him to get to both games eventually since he's intrigued by them both, but DA2 can be finished fairly quickly compared to Bethesda's games.
Lots of good choices there, but there is only one choice for me - Morrowind. It's not just the magic and enchanting system. It's the unique setting, which is not just your normal medieval europe with the serial numbers filed off. It's the main plot, it's the villain, who actually has nuance beyond just wanting to destroy the world. Slap a graphical overhaul mod on it and it looks amazing as well.
@@Paradox-es3bl Haha, good one. I'm also rooting for Morrowind, it's perfect for Jon and with his Fallout love he really should play it but would actually enjoy a DA2 series too. It's more action focussed than Origins which is good for a video series, while the personal story and great characters are all pretty cinematic. Best thing is some good editing can smooth off the rough edges like the repetitious caves!
When Jon played the beta of Baldurs Gate 3, I was sure he was going to play it as soon as it came out. I was so certain. I don’t have anything that can run it and I just want to see Jon play it. It’s crazy to me that he hasn’t played it yet, and I am certain, given the competition, I won’t see him do it anytime soon.
tbh I'm scared to see Jon playing DA2, since he kept getting confused between apostates and blood mages in Origins. He didn't want to trust Anders with the kitten!
The decisions are saved to the Origin account, if he synchronised it. And if not he can recreate his world state on the DA Tapestry (?). So it's out there somewhere.
JON JON: If not, there is a DA2 Gibbed mod that will make those choices and make a "fake" DAO game to put in (the Tapestry does not import into DA2, baron; that's for DAI). This gibbed mod file also fixes where the choices of DAO are still bugged (such as the events in Awakening) that still end up giving you all the (conflicting) quests instead of the one that applies by setting the correct flags. HIGHLY recommend using this if one has lost the original DAOworld state. [It can also be used to set a desired world state if someone wants to see different quests/choices w/o playing through DAO again].
Unfortunately the impact isn't as much as Bioware hyped it to be. For a lot of them it just adds or changes a few lines of dialogue. A bunch are bugged and you would need to use an external tool to get them to trigger. One major decision is completely ignored. Bioware switched to the tapestry for a couple reasons. One it lets them fix the bugged flags from Origins/awakening. Two, it means you can carry your decisions across console generations. Bad news is that when the site eventually goes down you won't be able to set your world state without external tools.
@@MrGhosta5 BioWare or EA originally making the DA Keep a website was such a blunder, and I'm surprised the site managed to stay up for a decade. But I think they finally realized a site is a bad idea because Veilguard has you choose the world-state when you start a new game.
I vote Morrowind cause I still haven’t watched anyone else play it but I know that I’d absolutely love watching Jon play it like he did with Oblivion. I’ve heard that out of the three big Elder Scroll games that Morrowind has the most original feel and aesthetic, so it’d be really interesting to see how we and Jon perceive that world 🧐
Will watch any in this list, seems like a great collection. That being said Morrowind and Jon just sounds so special. Cliff Racers, faction conflicts, etc. Would be amazing.
Morrowind is one of my absolutely favourite games! This is actually the first time I've commented on one of Jon's videos, despite watching for well over a decade now. I think its mixture of open-endedness and frank weirdness will make for such a fun series, especially as the Oblivion series was so good!
Dragon Age 2 has the most robust story of the three. It is heartbreaking several times. It swivels several storylines from all the games. The love interests have deep stories and long feels like they're earned layers. The hub focuses everything on only what is needed. Combat is fun to watch and play. It gets a bad rap for being a bit too repetitive for level design, but if you love anything that is Dragon Age or a good RPG, this is the game to vote for!
Bg3. Jon will have a bhall with that one. With all the different things that can go right or wrong its gonna be amazing. I know going through with friends after several runs on my own i was having to bite my tongue to let them make their own mistake, which we often had to fight our way out of. Just dont double up on speak with animals again.
It could finally happen. Watching Jon play my favorite game of all time in Morrowind is a dream come true. Jon, you will love getting immersed in Morrowind. From the lore to the setting and music. It's wonderful.
Yea I heard about that… so it’s basically the game that MADE Bethesda. Apparently they thought it’d be their last game so they kinda just went all out when it came to the lore and atmosphere. I’ve never played it myself, so it’d be really interesting watching him play it
Will it be played with or without mods? I know Jon tends to play these things pretty vanilla for his first time, but can he really broadcast this and make it entertaining with the god awful dice roll mechanic on hits?
@@kingoftherodeo87 Jon is good enough at editing to chop out the boring parts, and any mods he installs will be subtle enough to just fix bugs and pretty up the graphics.
My votes for TW: Shogun 2 for sure. I'm currently re-watching the Rome: TW playlist for the third time. I watch it every couple years cause I love it so much. So I'd love to see more classic total war.
I think there's a decent chance BG3 is going to win, and I think that's a shame. I know a lot of people love the game, but hear me out here: it isn't going to work for Jon's style of video. A huge amount of BG3, and the reason people love it, is the companions. They're really well voice acted, and they're interesting characters. Problem is, Jon makes RUclips videos, and he commentates on them. Which either means long sections of time where Jon is just playing footage without commentating, or there will be massive cuts to the dialogue that actially makes people like the game. The other big reason is about storytelling. Skyrim and Oblivion worked super well because they both allowed Jon to tell a story, and in both cases, not necessarily a story the gale expected to tell. For all BG3 is said to be a game where you can "do anything," it's not a sandbox game in the way people like to think it is. It's a game where, ultimately, the story is exactly what it's meant to be, with variations on what side you ultimately support, but everything compounds into that specific story. The side stories usually end up tying back to that main plot. The games that people always seem to love most on the channel, and ultimately end up doing the best, are games where Jon can just abandon his duties as the chosen hero and mess around a bit. I think the people who are really excited about BG3 are ultimately going to be disappointed, because opportunities for that kind of storytelling (specifically hpw Jon tends to do it) aren't all that common in the game. My two cents, at least. I hope whatever game gets picked makes a great series and I hope it does really well, regardless of what the series is.
I totally agree. BG3 is a wonderful game, and Jon is a wonderful RUclipsr/LetsPlayer, but they're not necessarily the best fit. That said, if BG3 does end up winning, I'll still look forward to the series, and, no doubt, enjoy it.
Now that you mention it, I feel like Witcher 3 also suffers for similar reasons. Though I can 100% see Jon being able to make up for this in Witcher by just having lots of commentary inbetween dialog where he hems and haws over the various moral/ethical quandries in the game, pick the worst possible choice due to either a misunderstanding or an amusing reason (such as wanting their hat) and then instantly regret the outcome as a result haha. Also, if Jon thought the people of Oblivion had scary murder basements, wait until he sees the Witcher 3 scary murder shacks. My first vote is going to be for Morrowind though and I'll be sticking to that until it either wins or isn't an option. The stories I can see Jon making from that game are endless. I'm also genuinely curious what his preferred great house would be, I feel like it'd be either Hlaalu or Telvanni for character reasons, but I can totally see it being Redoran b/c he decides he likes the funny crab architecture.
He's also done a bunch of videos/streams on BG3 already and these exact issues have already happened... It's ironic that the people voting for it probably never even watched those
The voice acting in BG3, which is probably the best ever in any game, will be a bit diminished by Jon's play-and-presenting-style. That's true. But "It"s not a real sandbox game"? It is indeed not a real sandbox game. It's a game with missions, like all RPG's I know (except Kenshi, but that game is not up for the vote). Almost all of the missions in BG3 are optional. And all of them have several ways of accomplishing them. And what's more, you have plenty of choices independent from the missions. I give it to you: The intro is railroaded. And there is a bottleneck of plotlines between Act 2 and Act 3, the end of Act 2 is poor in options. But you have to put this in perspective: Just Act 1 and Act 2 are bigger in content than any of the other games in the list. Honestly I would be happy if Jon plays "just" Act 1 and Act 2. Ketheric is the final boss. End of the Game. Baldur's Gate III is so rich it will still take 100+ episodes to play two out of three acts. I love it when Jon plays old games. If Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't win now, it will only come back to the channel in ten years as one of those historic, melancholic games. I don't want to wait that long.
@@cloudandclear5354 If you're looking for a more "sandbox" RPG, then you'll absolutely love watching him play Morrowind! Even the main quest is optional! You can kill NPCs that will make it impossible to complete, and the game will let you know but allow you to continue anyway. There is SO much fun to have in Morrowind without ever even touching the main quest, and the game barely even pushes you to it. In fact, if you rush to the main quest, it literally tells you to go do some side stuff first and then come back later.
My vote goes towards Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic II, Its been 3 years since MATN finished the original KOTOR and we are deprived! Especially with the new Star Wars game that came out, it's great timing. The longer the wait to finish the series, the more Star Wars sandbox games that will come out and need playthroughs, furthering how far the second half of the series will be pushed into the back of the mind!
Jon said "We will obviously be seeing the sequel" and "It was made by obsidian, so oh my goodness all my Christmas' came at once" when the last episode came out on April 9th 2021 and it's almost 2025 😢
@@Kaarl_Mills well he said he wants to play Bloodlines before the sequel comes out...sequel that is currently pushed into a next year release, so there is still time
Some amazing options here, but BG3 is the candidate I'd have to back. The amount of ludicrous builds and magic flippery, an amazing cast of complex characters along a full spectrum of personalities, the fact it's rife with opportunities for questionable morals for Jon, I can go on. And if nothing else, maybe it'll make me finally finish my own 200 hour first playthrough.
It is an amazing game but is it really right for Jon? His best videos are when his own creativity and role playing shines. Will bg3 give him those opportunities?
Shogun Total War 2 - it's incredible. For me it's the last Total War before they started getting a bit too complicated to still be fun. And it's feudal Japan, the unit variation is great and the art & aesthetic is awesome. Plus so many other creators already do/have done the RPGs he mentioned and Jon's Total war vids are always highly clippable.
Morrowind is often considered to have the best written story of the elder scrolls games. Personal I think it's easily the best Bethesda game story and would love to see Jon's reaction to it. However, BG3 is an amazing game too so this is a hard choice for me. I'm probably going to vote Morrowind though. Jon would probably play Morrowind mostly unmodded without major game altering mods. There are very few full playthroughs of mostly vanilla Morrowind on RUclips, at least as far as I have been able to find. This is something I have an interest in seeing as my own experience with Morrowind was vanilla so it's harder to relate to it if it's heavily modded.
This is such a hard list to vote for, cause I would love to see all these. But I know where my hearts leaning. Gonna be a fun week of voting. Which is a phrase I have not uttered since 2012.
The Shogun 2 party needs to campaign their hearts out. A Shogun 2 series would Yarimazing, but im not sure it's gonna out vote literally some of the best games that have ever hit the market. Just so much good about Shogun. The crunchy battles, the great art design, trade, and some of my favorite gunpowder units of any tw game. Jon probably won't play fall of the samurai anytime soon but even just the matchlock boys make me giddy when they unload into some poor samurai
I didn't even think about that. This is somewhat sad, I adored his KOTOR 1 playthrough and would (metaphorically) absolutely kill for a KOTOR 2 playthrough. While it's far rougher around the edges than KOTOR 1, it's also got some of the best companions and a really fun story (except the ending sadly).
When he said BG3, that was going to be my choice. But then, he said Morrowind. When Jon talks about how ridiculous the magic system is, he's not kidding, it's amazing.I went enchanter, had full chamelion suits, full reflect damage suits, all kinds of spells on items. There are so many ways to become like a god in Morrowind, way more than later ES games.
The Witcher 3 is so heavily content filled and has some amazing characters and side missions-- now, the same can be said for other games in this category I'm sure, but I think it would be amazing seeing Jon dive into a fully blind playthrough of The Witcher 3 as it's not really something that he has experienced before. I love seeing content creator's first time reactions to games instead of having "I remember this from last time I played..." moments throughout the series. The blind discovery is how so many of us experienced the game, and I think that would make for the most entertaining series. Plus, for those of you who love the Witcher, it's a long game and will end up being a lengthy series, especially if Jon dives into Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine too.
It absolutely has to be Baldur's Gate 3. It's easily the most impactful RPG to come out since the time of New Vegas and/or Mass Effect 2 (not a big fan of ME3 in general). Among its strengths are: the main story, choices that can be made throughout that story, side content, companion quests (some of which feel like ME2 loyalty missions), and RPG character build mechanics which impact the combat with hundreds of possibilities. It feels really strange that it's not on the channel already, and I think it's unfortunate that Jon bet on the wrong horse and made a full series of Starfield instead at the time.
You'd think being spoiled for great choices in an election would be better than picking the lesser evil. But the fear of missing out on half a lifetime's worth of amazing wacky adventures is making this very hard!
Morrowind, Morrowind, Morrowind! Jon is at his best when up against Bethesda jank. This is PEAK Bethesda! Think of the bugs. Think of the distractions. Think of the system exploitation.
Me- Yay games of 2 and 3, finally after 4 years of waiting we can finally have the series that was promised and called all of Jon's Christmas' at once, KOTOR 2! I can't sleep with anticipation for the announcement! Me after the announcement- well that sucked I guess I'm not watching the next series 😞
I would love the shogun 2 vote to win. Im a big fan on turn based games, but watching you medieval total war 2, the one episode that stuck woth me and me and my partner still find funny today was when you defeated the russian cossacks and i beleive it was moscow you renamed to lasagne and that still makes me tickle to this day.
I would choose Dragon Age 2 because there's so many directions this could go, and I'm curious to see if Jon is able to get one of the more difficult endings (and the one I'm hoping is cannon). There are some new faces and some old faces in the game, but the hijinks and weird quests are memorable, plus it would be a great buildup to DA3/Inquisition and the upcoming DA4. Plus, Felicia Day is in it and her quest line was fun. I feel like Baldur's Gate is going to win as it's newer and it is an amazing game, but getting to watch Jon (and hopefully Claire) experience one of my favourite game series again would be lovely. I wish I could go back and play it for the first time.
I think, at most, you're gonna get a tired classicist ranting about a game that isn't anywhere near as good as one of his literal favourite games of all time... Rome 1. I wouldn't even expect a mini-series - just a video maybe. Though he's never been particularly inclined to cover Rome 2
MASS EFFECT 3, for two very important reasons: First, it plugs a major hole in the MATN channel catalogue. Jon has said for years that Mass Effect is one of his favorite series of all time, yet the final installment (of the main trilogy) remains conspicuously absent. This needs to be rectified. Second, it makes the most sense tactically for those (like myself) who want to see more than one of these games. Of all of them, ME3 is the shortest. Most of the other games are potential 50 episode commitments, and a few could easily go well longer than that. ME3 will not take anywhere near that long for Jon to finish, even on Insanity. Democracy Week usually ends up with its second and even third place finishers ending up high in the queue as well, so picking, say, Baldur's Gate or Morrowind effectively means that he won't get to any of these other games for at least a year. ME3 can be finished in a few months, increasing the likelihood of Jon picking up another well-placing game off this list sooner than later, before perhaps being distracted from it by future Democracy Weeks. This Democracy Week, vote for Mass Effect 3! (Paid for by the Systems Alliance.)
Actually, Dragon Age 2 is likely shortest. Edit: I checked. Mass Effect 3 without the DLC is on average 7 hours shorter for completionists. ~50 hours vs 57. With the DLC, it's longer.
50 ep commitments? That's vastlely underestimating how long a BG3 or a TW3 run would last. Both are worth the time, but as I said in another place, you could finish ME3 followed by DA2 in the time it would take to finish a couple others on the list. However my reasoning for ME3 is the same as Jon's. At one point I scoured MATN thinking there had to be a full series. I could remember him doing it, but I must have fabricated that memory. It's just wierd that he hasnt played it. Its an outstanging game, and LE really amped up the difficulty (IMO).
@@drworm73 I thought it was better to set the bar too low than to set it too high... given that I'm arguing in favor of ME3's relative brevity, I wanted to avoid people dismissing my position outright because I said game X would take 100+ episodes and they feel that's too long. I've played all of these games to completion myself -- a first for Democracy Week -- so believe me I know what a time sink some of them can be. P.S.- Is your name a TMBG reference? If so, cheers.
Morrowind is great- but if it wins be sure to play with OpenMW; It gives a few more modern options, freshens up the graphics and improves compatibility with modern systems. Doesn't add any features persay, but is more an entire engine rewrite to make the game run better.
Looking forward to this. I'm going to have to vote for games other than Baldur's Gate, though, because I'm just starting that one myself, and I don't want to see spoilers. I would not be sad to see any of the others, but I think my top two picks are Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2.
Morrowind is so incredibly easy to break at higher levels. It's fun, however, to start at the very southern tip of the island in Morrowind and then take a single jump to eventually, with good aim, land on Solstheim. Less fun if you forgot to take into account landing... :P
With all the “3” games I was absolutely convinced a CK3 option was going to be available but I guess I’ll just have to settle for an insanity run of ME3
*Chants* Shogun 2 : Shogun 2 : Shogun 2 *Chants* Shogun 2 is an amazing total war game, it's still one of my favorites to go back to. They had the mini-movies for when your agents did something. Made me fall in love with Shogun and Shogun 2, its why I stuck with total war for so long. I want to see the mini movies make a come back they were AMAZING!!! Vote Shogun 2 if you've never seen it done. Sure its older; But hot damn is it still golden.
Morrowind because I very much need to see Jon break the magic system, and also what happens when Jon's Perception -10 meets the cliff racers... Witcher three for Jon saying 'let's try a shortcut, roads are for losers' then getting promptly eaten
While I understand why folks would vote for RPGs like Baldur's Gate III or Morrowind, I want to pitch you on Dragon Age II. If you're looking for a game that emphasizes characters, Dragon Age is the game for you. Not only do you have standouts like Aveline, Varric, and Isabella (who we met in DAO), your PC also has family in the game that you interact with. I would suggest that, outside the DLC characters, there is not an underdeveloped character in this game. Rather than just experiencing a setting like the other RPGs, if you want Jon to actually experience a *story* within a setting then give Dragon Age II your vote
@@ManyATrueNerd Some clarification is needed. Will MW have mods? Is W3 including expansions? What's the stance on BG3 and W3 relationships? Etc.
As many comments as there are about how hard it will be to choose, I have no such issue. Morrowind.
I find dialogue-heavy games awful to watch and I despise how Total War changed after Medieval II. But that's just me, I guess.

Same. Going in I was thinking Morrowind, but I did not anticipate Baldurs Gate 3 or Witcher 3.

@@Zagreus_plays_a_game I love Mass Effect, but I’m less excited for it since it won’t be a first playthrough.
THIS IS NOT FAIR! I CANT DECIDE BETWEEN THESE !!!
Yeah for real. Absolutely STACKED lineup.
I just finshed the video and was about to write the same xD
Ikr the Witcher, BG3 and morrowind are tearing me in different directions
Then pick MORROWIND or SHOGUN 2
Just pick the obviously correct choice, it's not hard
Jon starts Morrowind. Jon "meets" a jumping Wizard... Jon becomes a jumping wizard xD
If you know, you know.
@@kingoftherodeo87 weeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Aarrrrrrrr
This is why it would be Morrowind! This exact reason
The irony of feather fall not only saving him but allowing further travel
Morrowind could last for years with Jon, no quest markers an a protagonist with zero perception? That will be cocking brilliant!
@@sgtpastry The game ACTIVELY lies to you with some quests

Quick, someone file a court action to get Knights of the Old Republic II on the ballot! This is numeric discrimination!
Now see THAT would be my choice in a heartbeat.
This is clearly a rigged election. Kotor 2 deserves the same opportunities as any other game
PLEASE
Now that would be my top pick!
Yes 😢 mass effect 3 is a good option too
The chaos of this channel and the chaos of Morrowind will be a terrible janky combination.... that's why I'll vote for it.
It’s got to be Shogun 2. Total war games get the best out of Jon. Let the man role play over generations and discover the the samurai equivalent of Julianus Vatinius
Yes, Jon could do it justice.
If somehow Morrowind loses but Shogun stays in, I would support that. I want to see him play Morrowind,.
Another fact to add to this point is that Jon loves you only live once challenges and well BG3 honor mode would fit that category well in the future
"The bear's still around!" changes it's meaning entirely if we get BG3.
You know I've never watched or seen anything from baldur's Gate 3 so hopefully it wins
Jon playing this kind of open-ended game would be better than anything
*running to create bot accounts to upvote this comment*
BG3 will let Jon play out the most wildest and whacky schemes ever possible in RPG. Plus truly impactful decisions with fantastic and fleshed out companions. Then the stunning graphics, character designs and a beautifully written story to top it off.
I have been waiting years for Dragon Age II to get a series. It's an underdog but I am fascinated to see how Jon reacts to it.
It's the biggest democratic event of the year!
Can't think of any other democratic events this year
It's the only one where I'm going "But these are all such great options with such great qualities to recommend them"
Abso-cocking-lutely should you play Morrowind.
I rewatches his DA:O playthtough lately, and it's fascinating how he interacts with the mages and Andera
There's also a literal little Welsh girl that casts magic. xD
@@Nikelaos_Khristianos Oh yes, Jon will love her!
This Democracy Week is the toughest yet. Was this put together by Evil Jon? 😭
Seriously! My vote is for all of the above😭
He didn't even bother to put in Kotor 2 this time
@@Kaarl_Mills Our time will come.
Worse. Normal Claire lmao
The only reason this democracy week is tough is because there's no KOTOR 2 to win hands down 😭
Mass Effect 3: The final Priority Earth mission was an order of magnitude tougher for me than any other mission in the series, and that was on normal difficulty.
ME1 and ME2 were harder than ME3 on Insanity until that final mission (Citadel also gave as good as it got)
Baldurs gate 3 will end up being a 200 ep series. 100% for that
This i dont think there will be another democracy week next year if it turns out to be bg3
Oh yes, lets bring the favorite game and the favorite gamer together
2000 maybe
The same applies to Morrowind and Witcher 3, though. They're all amazing, MASSIVE, content-filled games. Honestly, though I'm unsure BG3 and Jon's playstyle are the best fit, I'll still be excited to watch any that wins.
"At long last, we've finished Baldur's Gate III. Finally in the pipeline, Democracy Week 4 starting in 2044."
What if we carefully engineer a 6-way tie every single day? Democracy at its finest
Communism week
I only want 4 of these, though. Witcher 3, DA2, BG3, Morrowind.
I’m in
Let's do it
Wasn't this attempted during last democracy week? 🤔
Totally agree, been waiting a long time to follow up the insanity run - but bg3 and Witcher 3 are such strong choices I fear it won’t get a look in.
Idk dude, it seems like he prefers Bethesda to me... look how many Bethesda games he's played and the special series he's done.
My first choice is absolutely BG3 for all the reasons you say, but if Witcher 3 outlasts BG3 I will vote for that. Hoping that won't happen, though
I'm right there with you, TW3 is my absolute favourite game, I'd love to see it, but BG3 would just work somehow better as a series with Jon's chaos and style
I haven't played BG3 yet myself, so to avoid spoilers, let's go Witcher 3 lmao
@@kinzey2 I agree!
Also, gotta see what he does with Anders.
it's an incredibly written game, and surprisingly bleak for bioware. it's a lot closer to an obisidian game that way - down to the lack of time and polish they were able to give it. absolutely worth a look, and i'd be particularly excited to see what jon brings to the series as a classicist, since so much of the stories in the game are drawing more from ancient greek tragedies than they are more modern ones
I can enjoy most of these games on my own playing them myself, but I will never enjoy playing a total war game as much as I enjoy watching Jon play them
I concur
Jon is the soul reason I got into the Total War series. He's the only reason I know it exists, and is a massive reason why I saved two years to buy a gaming PC to run the games well. When I see he's doing a Total War series, I buzz like fuck.
My issue is lack of units and if he would do rise and fall of samarie
Damn that's a good argument. Was leaning slightly for BG3 but now... I got hooked on this channel by the first Rome campaign, and I truly love all the total war and stellaris series
Oh noooo, why is this so hard!
Under Sun and Sky Outlander, we greet you warmly
Love DA2. It's the game that got me into the franchise and is still my favorite one in the franchise.
@@Flairway00 It seriously is an underrated game. Especially when you learn the game was developed and released in 16 months.
I've got you back. Well, be the only two people to vote for it, but I can't wait for the next dragon age franchise
Oh yeah. Jon in Skyrim: "These Nords are racist a-holes, look how they're treating the poor Dark Elves!"
Jon in Morrowind: "Oh..."
Go DA2 first. It's shorter so he can get to both.
@@Paradox-es3bl That's an excellent suggestion! I'm fully expecting him to get to both games eventually since he's intrigued by them both, but DA2 can be finished fairly quickly compared to Bethesda's games.
I was expecting KOTOR 2 to be in there?
Yes! It even works with the theme! A week of two's and three's!
Conspicuous Absence
The 4 year wait for 'all jons Christmas' at once' (his quote) continues *sad noises*
If he does DA2 first, he can get to that in like 6 weeks lol
But that's what makes Jon's playthroughs so much fun! 😁
DA2 Anders though... xD When he goes "full 40k"
If dragon age 2, hopefully John still has his DAO save file, that way his decisions will carry over and affect his game.
Da2 is trash
@@MrGhosta5 BioWare or EA originally making the DA Keep a website was such a blunder, and I'm surprised the site managed to stay up for a decade. But I think they finally realized a site is a bad idea because Veilguard has you choose the world-state when you start a new game.
I vote Morrowind cause I still haven’t watched anyone else play it but I know that I’d absolutely love watching Jon play it like he did with Oblivion. I’ve heard that out of the three big Elder Scroll games that Morrowind has the most original feel and aesthetic, so it’d be really interesting to see how we and Jon perceive that world 🧐
Uhhh this is such a great point!
We need a morrowind playthrough on RUclips, and Jon is the man to do it!
@@sifolden heck yea he is! With his -1 perception 😏
BG3, Morrowind, and Witcher 3. I really can't pick. How will I know who to vote for without Worms Armageddon to inform the public?!
Yes! We need a worms Armageddon special to predict the outcome!
Morrowind for consolidation purposes
Balders gate 3 would allow people to watch Jon mess things up and get things wrong! One of the best parts of MATN! 😂
This is the hardest Democracy week so far, I genuinely would love to see a series on all of these games.
Morrowind - game is so magical it back in a day singlehandidly saved Bethesda from bancrupcy.
@@kingoftherodeo87 pretty sure it will be on par with Jon's Oblivion playthrough.
@@JoshWiredChimp he also said he would play VtM at some point ages ago.
The only problem is that most of the people who want KOTOR 2 also want Morrowind so it splits the vote between the two every time
Let's make some noise and get KotOR on the ballot! It even works well with the theme: "a week of two's and three's"!
@@Kaarl_Mills well he said he wants to play Bloodlines before the sequel comes out...sequel that is currently pushed into a next year release, so there is still time
Let’s go Baldur’s A True Gate, let’s do this!
Ooo a ME3 Insanity Run could be-
MORROWIND MORROWIND MORROWIND MORROWIND
If he played Fall Of The Samurai he could hire British mercenaries!
No KOTOR 2? That's really sad. I vote for Morriwind
@@Electracion even the original unmodded ending is better the ending of 1
God I was wanting KOTOR 2 so bad
Let's make some noise and get KotOR on the ballot! It even works well with the theme: "a week of two's and three's"!
DA2 first, so he can get to 2 series.
Damn, no Kotor 2. Let’s go Morrowind!!
Ikr? It's been almost 4 years Jon! How is that "all your Christmas' came at once" for the KOTOR II 😭
Let's make some noise and get KotOR on the ballot! It even works well with the theme: "a week of two's and three's"!
That's what's up
Was really hoping for KOTOR 2! I’ll vote for Morrowind
Morrowind should win because Jon beating every elder scrolls game before TES6 comes out would be funny
It's between morrowind and total war for me. Total war was what got me to your channel way back with Rome, and morrowind is one of my top games.
Morrowind > Every other option, no contest. I don't even need to know what they are.
Vote Morrowind no.1!
Nah, DA2 so he can crank it out fast af, then move on to #2 in the vote: Morrowind.
Still hoping Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 pops up as a wildcard choice
Morrowind. Fight me.
After fallout, total war is Jon's biggest series. It won't be the longest series so we might ger borrowing After it anyway
Morrowind, Morrowind, Morrowind! Jon is at his best when up against Bethesda jank. This is PEAK Bethesda! Think of the bugs. Think of the distractions. Think of the system exploitation.
Yes! Games with 3! The return of Crusader Kings 3!

Yay games of 2 and 3, finally after 4 years of waiting we can finally have the series that was promised and called all of Jon's Christmas' at once, KOTOR 2! I can't sleep with anticipation for the announcement!
Me after the announcement- well that sucked I guess I'm not watching the next series 😞
Please let it be Baldur’s Gate 3. If Jon makes decisions in that game the same way he made decisions in DA:O it’s going to be hilarious 😂

Shogun is very, very tempting. Especially as it could finally lead to a Rome 2 playthrough somewhere down the line.
Pretty sure Jon said that he wasn’t as much of a fan of Rome 2 as he was other total wars, but don’t quote me on that.
@@quno5174 Yeah, which is why I would like to see even a mini series on it. Get his critique.
I think, at most, you're gonna get a tired classicist ranting about a game that isn't anywhere near as good as one of his literal favourite games of all time... Rome 1. I wouldn't even expect a mini-series - just a video maybe. Though he's never been particularly inclined to cover Rome 2
MASS EFFECT 3, for two very important reasons:
First, it plugs a major hole in the MATN channel catalogue.
I’m still incredibly bummed we aren’t going to get Jade Empire 😭
With all the “3” games I was absolutely convinced a CK3 option was going to be available but I guess I’ll just have to settle for an insanity run of ME3
I want to see shogun 2 so bad, but that lineup seems near impossible to beat.
*Chants* Shogun 2 : Shogun 2 : Shogun 2 *Chants*
Shogun 2 is an amazing total war game, it's still one of my favorites to go back to.
BG3! Would probably set a new record for longest series on the channel and I'd be eagerly anticipating each one
Shogun 2 Total War. Everyone in the world has done the others. Dragon Age 2 was tempting, but you know what's going to happen in that.
But it's also the fastest so he can get to another series after.
Morrowind should win by music alone.
