My wish list is simple: - keep the ‘natural formation’ Cortana line - Keyes still kills himself with frags - Add 17 more rooms in AOTCR - Replace the library with Halo 2s Quarantine Zone mission with zero context - You MUST STOP for Foehammer to pick you up in the Maw
Remove all the outdoor sections from Assault on the Control Room and have it just be an endless series of circular rooms connected by bridges. It's what the real fans want!
One thing you could do with the Arbiter is have an extra mini-campaign from his own perspective, where he has to prevent the Flood from escaping the Ring. It could climax with him choosing to forgo attempting to fire the Ring in favor of preventing a Flood escape, foreshadowing his abandonment of the Covenant, and could give us more of a view on what ordinary Covenant soldiers might think of the war
There’s a lot more jumping around with multiple narratives they could do around CE. Playing as the Fleet Admiral before he becomes Arbiter can help to expand the story - and I’d even say to have missions from the First Strike book where you play as different Spartan-II’s could be a great inclusion.
I think if The Arbiter were to be included, a mini campaign would be the best way forward. Combat Evolved is already a long-ish game and I personally wouldn't want it to be stretched out beyond what it is at present. The first half of the game in particular is, to me, almost perfectly paced.
@@BenPlaysGames Idk, I think its important of separating your nostalgia fanboy for Halo CE from modern gaming perspectives. Look I'm a fan of halo too, but I'm not blind of the first one either, it HAS PROBLEMS. It's NOT a Perfect game(although it's quite close). But that's not a bad thing. It IS the first Halo for Bungie and that needs to be recognized and appreciated. So from this perspective, lets see what can be done if there is a such thing for Halo CE: Remastered- Surprisingly or not, the most difficult change even for a remake, is it's graphics. Like you said, it's important to capture the feel and look of the game. I've noticed most of the complaints were the graphics change in Halo CE in the master chief Collection. Imo, it's flawed, but there are some areas that look the part, referring mostly to the open world surfaces. However the gameplay, map design must stay the same and the sound or music, could improve for a more modern audio feedback. Remake- Ugh, well this is where it gets tricky, cuz unfortunately Halo CE is one of those games that any kind of remake, will have a drastically different tone no matter how the devs look at it. This is mostly because the game is so for it's time and the graphics are pretty basic and plain. And Yes I know that is probably what makes Halo CE special and distinct. And it was a head of it's time simultaneously respectfully. So basically what it all comes down to it is, do you mind or are you open to a more modern approach in gaming or not. Imo, I'm all for trying something at new angle, but at the same time, respect that has already been there. Halo 2 anniversary edition is a perfect example, while not really a remake, its not a remaster either! It sits in between. But the point is, The increase graphics, altered music, sound effects, benefited the game in the long run. You can tell which Halo the devs put all of their heart and soul into. One of the reasons why Halo 2 was more playable than 1 was because they fix most of the problems from the first game and the enhanced features and graphics just made it even better. Peace
Yeah i do think the best way to approach it would be to enchance what makes each level special, and maybe we can get a second half that is not a rehash of the first part, i hope we can get to see alpha base or some of the other iconic locations on the novel.
I didn't mention it in the video but a little side story about what happened to Wallace Jenkins would be pretty interesting too. Something like how the origin of the Hunter is handled in the Dead Space remake, where it's optional content if you search around.
I think they need to take major notes from Ruby’s Rebalanced Halo CE. I think it’s the best way to play the game because the weapons and enemies are far more balanced and each level has some new (previously unusable) weapons, cool details, additions, cut content, or new areas to fight in. Yes, they fixed the library, it’s now one of my favorite levels! It is truly the definitive way to play Halo CE. Basically they should balance the remake like Ruby’s rebalanced and have a similar attention to detail and expansion of the levels. What do you think?
Fire up MCC. Fire up Halo: CE Enable old graphics Play. Not one part of me in the 23 years i have been playing it screams "this needs remade or remastered". Its as fun as it was day one back on Xbox. Weird.
Plus, its been 10 years and 343 haven't made anything even remotely close to what the Bungie games were. So this new "remaster" wont be anything new. As i said in a comment on a previous video, Halo died when Halo 4 released, sadly :(
For me the perfect CE remake should be faithful to the original, keep the og artstyle just modernised, add cut weapons to the campaign like the flamethrower and fuel rod gun, expand unused areas and make repetitive ones more original, improve marines ai let them drive vehicles and don’t make them stutter every time they get shot, maybe add some cut levels or add something from the books, make the flood levels more horror focused like 343 guilty spark and make the flood themselves more like halo 3 counterparts. Also split screen campaign should be at launch. That’s my perfect CE remake, improve or leave what’s great and fix things that the rushed development didn’t have time to make good.
@@Gigachad_97 Modern games don't work on hard drive anymore, you'll need a SSD, (solid state drive). Regardless, cutscenes and gameplay are very different and blur only works on cinematics.
Changes the Halo: CE Remake should have: 1. Wieldable Energy Sworlds, Sentinel Lasers & Fuel Rod Cannons! 2. Drivable Wraiths 3. Dual wielding small guns! 4. Fightable Brutes, Drones and Enigneers! 5. The Revenant from Reach! 6. Fixing The Library & The Maw!
@@mikeallan7740neither does the library. If it’s too long for you play it on easy.imo people who don’t like the library don’t like the flood in general. And I have nothing to say to those people.
A lack of passion too, modern devs are just trying to crank out the next cash cow. Bungie made Halo hoping it would be successful obviously, but they made it because they felt that it needed to be made, it was important to them. They made it and it was their baby, 343 just inherited it when Microsoft bought out Bungie and have no respect for the series.
I'm not sure it's as much a skill issue as games these days being monstrous creations requiring hundreds of people, which I'd imagine is extraordinarily difficult to manage. 20 years ago, a team could have a vision and execute cohesively as only 20 people needed to be managed. These days, a triple-A game might have 200 (or many more) people working on it. It also leads to developers playing it safe too, as big releases are so expensive to create.
@BenPlaysGames There's no real reason that we couldn't have had 14 campaigns in the last 14 years. They need the practice at making quality campaign missions.
Describing all the ideas for changes to CE levels could be a whole video you say? Hmmmm… 🧐 Otherwise: I pretty much agree with everything. I honestly think CE is impossible to remaster without making it worse (for those of us who loved it anyway), but I think a remake would make it palatable to a wider audience. I tried playing CE in co-op with my wife and she definitely reacted negatively to some of the game design (and it's not like she's unfamiliar with FPS from years ago, she loves Team Fortress 2). In particular she despised the vehicle physics and refused to drive the warthog after driving it a bit, saying it felt wrong. Speaking of co-op: THE REMAKE BETTER DAMN WELL HAVE CO-OP. One of my very best gaming memories is me and my best friend playing through the CE campaign together for the first time. And thanks for making the video as always. Cool to see you branch out from level analysis (as excellent as they are).
A few people are very annoyed at me for mentioning sprint, but I think you've got to make concessions for a modern audience (vehicle controls would be another), as otherwise I don't really see the point in bothering at all. At this stage, the only reason to risk a remake is to revive the franchise and just catering to current fans simply isn't going to do that, as much as we'd all like it to. That's awesome re your wife, did she like the other games? Getting my wife to play Halo with me would be a dream come true but I think the odds of it happening are slim at best!
@BenPlaysGames I agree that sprint should be added since that is one of the standards of the modern era, and knowing Microsoft and 343, they’ll probably do it so that the remake sells well and doesn’t feel too slow for kids. Maybe give it a really short sprint time or something like that. But the problem is that the fan base would riot and that all of ridiculous bungie fanboys would boycott the game and they would lose half of the player base. I still think that they should add it, I mean Chief sprint many times in cutscenes so what’s the problem?
Out of all the studios Microsoft has acquired, the one they should have gone for a long time ago is Bluepoint. Would love to see what they could do with the older Halos.
@@NazmusLabsCoalition would be a bit more faithful to Bungie for sure. But the coalition has been shit lately. No gears game for like 7 years. Gears 5 is riddled with bugs etc.
As you point out, just leave it alone. You can't remake a masterpiece anyway. Halo CE may have some boring library parts, HALO 2 on legendary is baffling, for the first part of Halo 3, nothing happens... and yet if you change any of that, people will miss the original. Mortal Kombat is a franchise that decided to go with regular reboots of the original trilogy story and after a couple of them, it turned out to be an unwatchable mess despite smooth gameplay and graphics. Modern writers can't write, there's too much focus on stuff that has nothing to do with videogames and it's really difficult to win over nostalgia anyway.
The thing is, if they mess it up, it will effectively help kill the franchise. Those new to the series will play the remake and think "this is terrible" then never try any of the others. It would be an absolute disaster. On the other hand, if it's good, those same people will go try the others and quite possibly think they're not modern enough compared to the remake and again bounce off the series. I just don't think the upsides are enough to justify doing it compared to continuing on from Infinite.
@@BenPlaysGames I agree but the franchise still mostly rests on the glory of Bunge's titles and fortunately those are still fully playable. I did notice a couple of years ago that after a decade of non-use, my 360 didn't work anymore, so MC collection really breath life into the franchise. So long that we have those, we are going to be ok.
I would love to see a good remake of this game but I do not trust 343i with it whatsoever. Also My ideal remake would probably not be the same as anyone else's and in that we have a problem. My main things is add a few of the newer covenant types, revamp the flood (add new types based on grunts and jackals and differentiate combat forms with different abilities), and (this one would be controversial) replace the pistol with a DMR so the gun looks like it preforms. If they go this root they should have skulls that change it up to keep it more like the original (like a skull to replace DMR with original magnum skin with sounds and animation to match)
343 should use the SPV3 mod as the basis for a remake, that mod was really good in terms of expanding/redesigning the original levels. They could also rework the sandbox to incorporate the best bits from the other games as an homage to the original trilogy, like more weapons, vehicles, enemies, gameplay mechanics and so forth. They could also use lore from the halo CE books to create new canon levels, like a space mission to rescue Johnson and the other survivors after destroying the ring, or a mission to destroy the unyielding hierophant
For a proper remake to happen you'd need a team with the full vision of what original Halo CE was. Best thing they can do isn't to change for the sake of it but to specifically hunt down the criticisms and touch up on them to try and make bad parts good and maybe good parts can just receive some adjustments when necessary.
There are a ton of ways of doing that too, which makes it such an interesting prospect, especially when it comes to the game's second half. Unfortunately, until 343 has proven they're able to create a top tier experience, it shouldn't be touched.
Luckily, some news from insiders have pointed out that the game will be a REMAKE, which is pretty exciting. I really love halo ce, so having the game remade with extra qualities will be really nice. I’m personally excited about it
I want a CE remake so much! I agree they should keep the story like the original CE, but I do want Halo to experiment with some big gameplay ideas. Something that will impress players or attract a lot of players. They should find entirely new ideas but maybe also consider sprint or other modern mechanics. If the gameplay and story are just like original CE then the game loses a lot of impact / surprise factor. ----- I could see a community civil war if they try to add sprint. but maybe add new skulls that disable new mechanics like sprint. So it becomes a valid way to play for fans of the original CE!
I'm just sick of the constant onslot remakes and remasters in general. All it shows is how creatively bankrupt this industry and how much it's thriving on nostalgia bait. I dont trust 343 with remaking any of the Bungie games. Besides I think CE already has good remake in the form of SPV3.
10:00 In respects to rebalancing things, I'd look to fan works (i.e. mods) like Ruby's Rebalanced, which does an excellent job of both keeping the spirit of the original game's sandbox in tact whilst adding new things that make sense to enhance both the gameplay and atmosphere of the campaign.
Adding mechanics becasue they are expected to be there even though they are detrimental to the game's core design has been a consistent problem with 343's Halo games, doing the same to CE would be moronic.
It’s the best looking of the 343i art styles, but it doesn’t hold a candlestick when compared to Halo 2’s art direction. Plus it’s really jarring having to go between pre rendered cutscenes instead of in-engine scripts.
@@KennethV45Or the reused Reach and H4 designs, blocky SMG despite the multiplayer version being a perfect recreation, effects being so flashy they obscure too much of the screen and cause massive bloom and HDR making your whole screen all black. Or making the game in general a bit more brighter and change the atmosphere in some levels (Metropolis is set during the day instead of dawn losing the ICONIC™️ orange sky from the cover for example). Oh and Miranda looks like a middle aged woman even though she sounds and looked like she was in her 20s.
A remake with some new mechanics, gorgeous graphics, and maybe a new campaign level or two would be amazing!! Or like you said maybe reinvent the level layout for all the levels. And for the later half of the game find a way to give more variety, make it far different to explore compared to your first visit in earlier levels.
For the love of all that is good and holy THEY MUST NOT ADD SPRINT. That would require them to entirely redesign every map from the ground up, changing scale, cover, etc., and it would mess with the weapon balancing and gameplay loop. Watch Favyn's videos explaining why sprint does not belong in Halo, I beg you. It cannot be allowed. We must scream this at 343 immediately and consistently. Sprint is not welcome in mainline Halo, and most especially not in a remake of CE.
I'm honestly surprised you weren't immediately called a 'Halo 3 fanboy boomer' for not wanting sprint, why people demand sprint in everything is beyond me
Ah, the magic ability to be prevented from pulling the trigger whilst moving a little faster. Just add Quake and Sonic the Hedgehog modes instead. The speed boost power-up is in the Halo CE game files--and you can fire your weapon whilst running with it.
@@caramelldansen2204 We're dealing with the speed obsessed. Developers know it. Dragon Age Inquisition added a horse that doesn't go any faster than base walking speed, but because of the field of view changes, sound effects, and wind streaks, nearly all the players use a horse because they think it goes faster. Back during Halo 3, Reach, and 4, arguing with those who wanted sprint was like arguing with a mob of addicts.
I'd argue that Halo CE and Halo 3 are my favorite Halo games of all time. Halo 2 as well as Reach would also be on the list, but they aren't as fun imo to play. If I had to pick only one Halo game to be able to play again until the end of time, it would be Halo CE. I think it has the best campaign, it paved the way for other FPS games and made the industry as well as the Xbox as popular as it has been... well up until recently that is. Halo CE to me is like the first Jurassic Park movie in that it's absolutely fantastic but there's so much more that could be explored in both titles. In Halo CE, you only experience a small portion of the Halo ring and most of the levels are ones that you backtrack through, having played through them already. POA/The Maw, TAR/Keyes, AOTC/Two Betrayals, etc. The ones that aren't really backtracked would be Halo, TSC, 343 Guilty Spark and The Library. Not that it's bad to do some backtracking, but as mentioned in the video it can get pretty repetitive going through the same or very similar looking hallways, rooms, bridges and areas over and over again. I personally would love to see a few more levels added to the game as there is so much more to the ring that could be explored, and I even like the idea of giving the Arbiter his own couple of levels in the game as well. I'd love to see some better graphics, though not ones like Halo CE Anniversary where everything looks rainbow colored and bright. I think making the game much more sharp looking and having the characters as well as landscapes and so forth would make for a huge improvement over almost 25 year old graphics. I also think the cutscenes could use a lot of improvement in that the best one imo from Halo CE is the intro to TSC as well as Halo. That being said, I think cutscenes like the light bridge on the level Halo as well as the intro to TAR/Keyes/The Library and others just don't really do anything for me. They could be extended out quite a bit or have some more exposition from Cortana/Foehammer, etc. I like the Halo CE sandbox in that I think the weapons are fairly decent. The Magnum and Shotgun are vastly overpowered and wouldn't mind if Hunters were a 2 or 3 shot affair as opposed to just a single shot. The same could be said for the Flood in that a single shotgun blast generally takes them down. It wouldn't be terrible imo to make them a bit more difficult to play against, let them pilot vehicles, reanimate like in Halo 2/3 and so forth. The Plasma Rifle would be nice if it was tweaked a bit more in that it's one of the weapons I find myself using the least, same with the Needler. The Plasma Rifle being more powerful would make it a decent addition to other weapons and making the Needler's rate of fire faster would be nice as well. The Assault Rifle would also be great if it was a slightly longer range weapon and/or did a bit more damage, because all it's really good for is Flood Infection Forms, extreme close range with an Elite or other enemies that just need a few more shots or doing a melee attack. Sadly though, I rarely if ever find myself using the Assault Rifle because of these reasons and typically do a Magnum/Shotgun combo, or Magnum/Rockets, Magnum/Sniper, etc. Splash damage from the Rocket Launcher as well as touching a moving turret or vehicle at 1 mph would be nice to not result in you dying from that. Boarding vehicles and maybe even some dual weapons could be fun in some levels and please fix the God awful tank. It's difficult to drive, it doesn't shoot straight and it would be great if a turret or machine gun was added to it as well. It would also be nice if a single Plasma Grenade or single shot from a Fuel Rod Cannon didn't kill you while in it as well. Being able to board enemy vehicles again wouldn't be terrible, and being able to drive a Wraith would be fun as well. I'd also love to see a longer as well as more difficult intro to TSC in that the opening beach scene is probably my favorite of all time in Halo CE, but after about 30-60 seconds you're usually waiting on Foehammer to drop you a Warthog. It would be great if there were more enemies, they had some turrets, maybe some artillery or Wraiths, Ghosts, Hunters and so forth to make it more challenging. The initial open area is just like sheer chaos, but then it funnels you down to the small section between the rock wall and the structure to fight what remaining Elites and others are still left. Having more enemies in the beginning section as well as more marines, making it a more open section and so forth would make it imo much better. Kind of like a D-Day landing at Normandy in that it should take 4-5 minutes at least as well as be more of a struggle to move forward. Take away a few of the rocks and natural obstacles and add more Covenant drop shields, bunkers and so forth. On top of that, adding a gunner to the dropped Warthog would make it seem much more engaging as opposed to just going from point A to point B by yourself, then to point C, back to point B, then back and forth a few other times. I think 343i has done a terrible job of making Halo games and I have no faith in them at this point, this is just my "in a perfect world scenario" or if Bungie re-released a Halo CE remaster/remake. I will say though, Halo Infinite having an open world type of gameplay would be a fantastic way to do the larger maps like Halo, AOTC/Two Betrayals and so forth as it seems as though the maps are all very linear and you have specific objectives that only take you to certain locations. Letting you be able to explore the Halo ring, having more wildlife on it as well as a dozen or two of other things, imo would make the game even better. At the end of the day, it sounds great in theory or on paper, but given 343i's track record, I doubt there will be much of any success in making a remake of the game. Hopefully I'm wrong, but after 14 years and over 3 games at this point, they surely aren't winning me over with producing fantastic games.
If we had a competent writing team who loves/cares about the franchise, include some extra levels like Alpha base or connecting missions between existing missions, and include some stuff from the novel, I'd be all in. However we've been burned too many times. Fool me once......
Imagine if 343 added battles from The Flood, we're you play as Corporal Locklear through the events of the book, battle of the butte, the convoy from the crashed PoA, the night raid, flood attack, attacking the downed covenant ship and finally saving Sgt Johnson before the ring destruction. It'd be scenes people have played in their heads and wanted to see since 2003 when the book released.
I actually hadn't even heard about this rumour. While I normally dislike a remake over a remaster, if they did H1, 2 and 3 again, I would say in this case, a remaster would be more beneficial like you said, Ben. HCE anniversary and even H2 anniversary are both iffy at best. Nice video ❤
I haven't played the Mass Effect trilogy remake. My understanding is they really overhauled the combat and RPG mechanics from the original. That kind of thing, even if done well, was a bit controversial but probably speaks more to the divide in the ME fanbase than anything else. Some loved the more classic RPG elements compared to the action-shooter bones of the sequels but others liked the tighter and faster-paced mechanics. It's illustrative of the kind of challenges faced by developers doing remakes but I think it's worth it. It's hard to say when something is "objectively" good or not. But, if a remake developer has a good understanding of what made a game great in the first place and is able to recapture that heartbeat while updating and smoothing things out, even if it comes out different from the original, it still has the the chance at being a great game.
SPV3 pretty much added everything I wanted from a remake. It could use a little polishing, but that's basically it. Now Halo 2 and Halo 3, on the other hand? Those games need a remake. Too many plot holes and character deaths.
THEY NEED TO USE THE BOOKS!!!! I want Lt Silva and Alpha Base shown! show us the horror of Jenkins! Show us Srg going into the library...and yes show use Thel before his fall!!!!
My hot take is that I actually want them to put in the redesigned phenotypes alongside the original ones. Maybe with slight adjustments so that it all looks like a cohesive art style. The armor MUST be the classic look tho, for all of them
The only remake i'd want is halo 1 in a new engine. Otherwise the only thing i'd argue for is a director's cut of the halo games since bungie had a lot of wild ideas + adding the extra lore and events from the books would make them feel fresh.
Seems like they looked at SPV3 and thought the best plan would be to copy it. I think replicating and expanding the original game is a great idea, you could add additional levels for the Chief, Split Jaw, Arbiter and maybe the ODSTs… for example, missions including setting up, defending and evaking alpha base, the Covie’s perspective on the flood and forerunner tech (similar to the excellence of Quarantine Zone) and the ODSTs ending Truth and Reconciliation
CE came out shortly after I was born. So it took me over 20 years to finally play it 😂 Same for Halo 2. So I missed out on the magic of playing it as a young kid
I personally would just like to see a restored halo 2 and halo 3 with all the cut levels and content. As for halo ce, i don't think there are that much that can be improved aside from visuals. Level improvements such as the Library and AOTCR could be done. Two betrayals perhaps having a different route compared to AOTCR with similar atmosphere but new locations, heck throw in some marine survivors. Not too confident in a proper remake, i can imagine a damn good remake but looking at where halo is currently i don't really expect much.
Hoping that they add cut content. I want them to essentially create 2 campaigns. One that's more conservative and faithful, and another one where they go buck-wild. Throw in the plasma-caster, new (to CE) enemies, Revenant, Grunt Goblin, and all the old cut content and enemies Bungie had in mind.
After witnessing the Dead Space remake, I want to have faith. I want to see the same kind of successful remake that is everything the original was, but somehow better. But I have zero faith. I have seen 343 drop the ball so many times in so many ways. For every thing they improve upon, they fuck up three others. I have no faith in the franchise at this point, which is so painful to say. Halo brought me so much joy as a kid, brought my friends and I closer together, and gave me quality time with both me father and grandfather. Now, despite still being my #1 obsession, its a shadow of its own rotting carcass. It its painful to see.
All I want is a Halo TV show or movie series that actually follows the original canon and doesn’t add unnecessary conflict just because that’s what TV loves to do.
Do these Halotubers actually like 343's games or are they just pretending because being a classic Halo fan would damage their position as a Halo 'Content Creator(tm)'?
4 is fine enough, a good FPS but not a good Halo game for the most part. 5 is fairly poor. Infinite has amazing gameplay, but a dodgy story and a pointless open world.
We don't even have CE ported correctltly . It's been riddled with visual bugs since Gearbox's port for the PC all those years ago. A second remasteer attempt leaves me very skeptical at best.
People have been saying that if they do it like the dead space remake, it’d be great. Except, I love the original game and the remake is not the original. Same thing with new vegas, I fell in love with the shitty broken Xbox 360 version of that game and any remake of it will be something completely new, and not what I originally fell in love with.
I really like the 343 Forerunner esthetic and spartan armor, they feel powerful But for the rest, natural unsc or covenant environment and units i prefer the og version
I don't mind a remake. If it turns out absolutely amazing, then great, I get to play my favorite game all over again. If it turns out to be a dumpster fire, then I don't have to play it since I have the original and the remaster on MCC. It is a win/win scenario either way.
I would like a remake of CE in Infinite's engine. No rewrites or anything. I'd want it to be shot for shot. Just don't be afraid to show blood. CE had blood all over the place. Can you imagine the buildup to the Flood in 343 Guilty Spark without any blood in the corridors? And shadows for fuck's sake. Shadows are your best friend. Modern Halo is plagued with neon lights.
If they remake it, we'll prob end up with a Silver team version where the UNSC is out to get Master Chief and half the levels are him complaining. If they really wanted to do good remakes, they would remake the games with the cut content, like the final level of Halo 2, or the cut boss battle with the Gravemind in Halo 3.
The reason I’m not crazy about remaking CE again isn’t because it’ll look bad, have new mechanics, expanded story, new voice lines or be available on ps, it’s because we don’t live in that world anymore. It’s why remakes of old entertainment IPs don’t usually work. The only thing that needs to be redone would be the tv series.
This is all my speculation. Development of MCC is pretty much dead. Rumors say there’s going to be Halo for PlayStation, so… Bring on the new collection of Halo which will be called The Halo Collection, available on Xbox and PlayStation. (Wii?) Start things of, they devs will launch the game when a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is complete, with no rush in development. These days they aren’t restricted to the size of a DVD The core of the Halo: CE will be the same, but there might be bigger battles, cut content, more scenes. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see the internal structure in a longer cutscene in between Cartographer and Control Room levels. The next remake game, and future games might be quicker to make as the objects from each game can be used in later games. When the future remakes and complete, add them as part of an update
I am afraid about a Halo CE remake, because Microsoft would just change a lot of features that made Halo unique, and turn it into a generic modern FPS, screw the art direction and the lore. A good example of how to remake Halo CE would be the wwork Ruby of Blue did with his mod Halo CE Rebalanced, bringing back almost all the cut content, improving balancing, adding more variety in enemies, weapons and level design, and overall just being what Halo CE would have been if Bungie had 6 more months to work on it. That, and a few quality of life improvements added in sequels.
Don't Remake or remaster halo ce, make a what if scenario where operation (I forgot what it's called) actually went through, where all the forces that were gonna strike at the covenant right before the events of reach happen. We can have not only master chief and l8nda 058 here, but noble team among others too. We'd even have minor characters like stacker and chips Dubbo return too
The thing is Halo CE is Halo CE. What are they gonna do? Add sliding and clambering? You don't need it... It's Halo CE. Storytelling? Well I mean looking at 343's track record I am content with the idea of them not butchering CE to set something up they'll abandon 3 years later. This is where Halo started for me... I don't even want a remaster. It looks fine the way it is. They just need to move forward. They have a solid base for gameplay with infinite and have room to readjust the story better than they did with 4/5. Just keep supporting MCC for people to have access to the older titles and then push forward with Infinite andnonward.
They said they would remake not remaster CE. Many think they are remaking it by adding in things that couldn’t be added because of time constraints or weren’t in the lore yet
I see a lot of people against a remake of this game here so I'm gonna play devil's advocate. I think a remake is the best thing Halo can do currently, depending who they get to make it. They tried 3 times with the 343 games and each one failed. They could give it another shot with a fourth game but with this current track record I don't think anyone expects future games by 343 to be any different. A remake by a new team however would be using prebuilt game concepts and ideas that already worked for fans before, whereas the new games (Halo 4-Infinite) had terrible half baked ideas fans didn't like so there's already a higher chance of success by using something that's worked before in the past. There's also the obvious trend of remakes doing quite well in the industry right now so it just seems like a no-brainer. I personally dislike a lot of Halo 1 and think most of it is very dated and a remake could fix that for me and perhaps even change my perception of Halo 1 as a whole and I'm sure there's plenty of other gamers (especially modern gamers) that feel the same way. Whenever I see or hear of a brand new Halo game being developed I just roll my eyes because I know its just gonna be another stinker but a remake would catch my attention. It tells me they are REALLY trying to get this shit to work, going back to the basics, and hopefully using that knowledge they gain from remaking it going forward.
We’re on the same page. I want the story to continue. Don’t get me wrong CE is my all time favorite, but to redo CE seems like a losing proposition, risk vs reward seems too high. Especially with their track record.
Urgh. Setting aside everything else, why remake or remaster this game? The gameplay and story (what little there is) still hold up today. Heck, talented modders have already done a lot to give the game new life. More, I hate the idea of looking backward. I want new games, new stories, new ideas. That is what would draw me in.
Also important to note that this is most likely going to be on PlayStation for the first time. A successful launch on PlayStation could revitalize the franchise or tank it beyond repair
I think it's a well crafted case... but i'd have to vote leave it alone. It's fine as the original, just keep making sure it plays smoothly on the modern hardware and then leave it to be
Here is the problem with 343 they can't add one thing without subtracting another or two Infinite still and never will have a proper boom stick If has to be done remaster ce to the xbox original not the mcc gearbox port that still has stuff missing comparing it to my og copy and Xbox Then keep the original campaign untouched bar a few very minor fixes and alow thoes 'fixes' to be reversed by players example making warthogs and scorpions explode Once its been completed and sold Work on levels inbetween the levels of ce as dlc I am sure the books have plenty of inspiration for levels alpha base for example Give us a marine mission where you are the last member of your platoon and you need to lowe wolf it back to alpha base Or an arbi level about containing the flood and finding forunner relics Or counter missions to johns story by arbi keeps getting foiled by the profits ajender letting john escape
i’m definitely remake over remaster. they can add and change a lot of things that would make the game better. hopefully 343 doesn’t let us down again lol
Thank FUDGE it's not just me. The youtube algorithm and comments had me thinking Halotubers and their subs were ALL convinced this was 343s first attempt at making a Halo game and it'll be Great.. Meanwhile, I'm like: Soooo, are we Not gonna talk about the cliffhanger ending and retconned story in Infinite?? How bout we deal with continuing that game first.
@@rm25088 no doubt. Chief will have left the famous Zeta Halo behind, Spirit of Fire will still be at the Ark and we'll never see it or them again and the Endless will be dealt with offscreen as the useless threat they are.
As others have said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they drop Infinite's storyline too. Someone needs to come in and produce a skeleton of the mainline Halo story for the next 2-3 games minimum, so there's a cohesive outline of a satisfying narrative which can be followed from game to game. Reactionary stories produced on the fly aren't it, as it leads to the disjointed plot we've had for more than a decade.
This is a weird remaster. I’m surprised it’s not Halo 3 they are doing. CE has aged nicely, but it doesn’t make sense in the grand scheme of gaming. The only audience that will like this game is us the OG halo fans. Maybe 343 is trying to get some rep back? Not sure. I’ll keep an eye on this but not going to jump for joy.
*Stop trusting Microsoft. Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt.* Fool us once (Halo 4), shame on them. Fool us twice (Halo 5), shame on us. Fool us three, four, five times (MCC Xbox, MCC PC, Infinite), surely current Halo fans are in denial, have Stockholm syndrome, or believed Microsoft each time they've pissed on us and told us it's raining.
Microsoft do not have the human element to make art like Bungie did, they're too big and profitable. Microsoft cannot design games. You would have to be blind to think otherwise. Microsoft do not care about the franchise, only the money that fools and deniers pump into their newest "games". Frank O'Connor has a deep hatred for Halo's lore. He's replaced every facet of Bungie lore that a remade game could not be faithful to Bungie's vision, and could not be coherent as a remade game following O'Connor's lore.
Tbh a remake I'm a little iffy about. Certainly yeah updated gameplay and visuals is nice but it may screw with the artistic vision. I'm not an overly nostalgic guy but CE was a diamond in the rough and 343 none the less couldn't replicate the experience. There's a reason their anniversary (they were too lazy so they outsourced it to Saber Interactive) looks really bad like a texture pack.
Man I so disagree with the idea of trying to appeal to the "modern audience". 343 has been chasing the "modern audience" since 2012. The whole reason we're at this point is because developers don't care about the audience that has always been there. The best way to get your game to new players is to make a game that the current fans absolutely love. The last thing I want is for 343 to look at apex legends and think: "hmm how do we get kids who like grappling, sprinting, looting, and character powers to play our version of halo ce?" Remeber Aesops Fable: the dog and the bone. A dog with a bone in its mouth was crossing over a river on a bridge when it looked down into the water and saw another dog with a bigger bone. The dog bit at the water trying to take the bone but all he got was a mouth full of water and his bone was lost to the river.
I honestly don't have faith 343 will get the remake right. But at the very least I will have another Halo campaign to run through with more pretty graphics.
They really misread what the community wanted with this one. I can guarantee there’d be a hell of a lot less pushback had they decided to give halo 3 the same anniversary treatment that they gave halo 2 by rehiring blur to do their magic again. But no, they’re digging up ce. Again. Sigh
This is a good opportunity to get the current staff running the halo series familiar with making their supposed MO, so it could give light into future titles. Of course, I think we're all going into this with more than a healthy dose of skepticism regarding how well they can capture that feeling, but a fresh take on an old, already great game is a good setup (The RE4 remake shows how well those can be received) that doesn't put loads of pressure on 343 while having the opportunity to win back old fans and, as you pointed out as being critical, making some new ones as well. I'm going into this one as optimistic as I can
I just think that they really should stop looking to other franchises, there's enough room to experiment with already set lore in the novels, there's much room to expand the gamplay loop of the original trilogy Just the fact that you could travers a whole map walking in Halo 2 as fast as you could travers the halo 5 remake running is bugging me to no end. Sprinting doesn't make a game's pace faster, it slows it down And hell, Halo 4 being so inspired in COD, Halo 5 being so inspired in advanced movility shooters, and infinite being a Fortnite 2.0 is sad considering that halo WAS the trend setter, not the trend follower To hell with microsoft and 343
Nope 343 will fuck up using the arbiter for plot additions Good idea if the narrative ideas of the developers were competent enough 343 will end up retconning something or just adding shit no one asked for
I would much rather see them recover from the failures of infinite than remake CE, but CE with Infinite’s sandbox and gameplay mechanics (and the grappler!) would be an entire blast
Modders for free by themselves or in a team of a few people have remade CE numerous times all of which are better than anything a 100million $ 343 remake or remaster
Anytime they DO make something original it comes out as utter dogshit. I can see why they're sticking to remaking older works, their original ideas suck
I could see this as a test/exercise to get a team trained and experienced with the Unreal Engine. Remake something familiar that the team knows how it should be, sort of like how Studio Khara redid Evangelion with the first rebuild movie to get the team’s feet wet with familiar and iconic source material.
Tbf I heard devs at 343 did pitch hundreds of cool concepts like an ODST game similar to Helldivers, but they all got shut down by upper management. Then again everything 343 makes usually turns to garbage so who knows if those games would have been good 🤷♂️
I thought halo infinites campaign was really good! I enjoyed the story and the gameplay, it’s not as good as the bungie games but I think it’s leagues better than 4 and 5 (even though I think 4’s story was ok).
How is the campaign good? Master chief doesn't even do anything notable in halo infinite. Chief goes on a ring world making friends with a AI and some weird duuude. No violent battles. No high stakes happening... Game just ends off on a cliff hanger the end that's it. That's the story.
MCC is great 👍 on steam. Waste of money 💰 & time , unless Bungie is onboard with a remake of CE (yet again) 🎮 💀 🚬 💻 CE on steam has been a blast online multiplayer.
absolutely. If they actually remade it I feel like i'd 100% want to buy it because, Remaster is just, Spraying a new coat on something old. Remaking is like revivifying it, in a way that has the capacity to suprise us with new ideas, while relying on the old game for the basic outline/structure perhaps? And with 343s kind of struggle to get it right it feels like the perfect blend between trying out something new while building something that is beloved. There are a lot of ways for it to go wrong. But I'd much prefer this to, A Simple "Remaster". I Might even prefer it to an entirely new halo game.

To make my position clear (in spite of the title of the video) - I think a new Halo is a much better option than either.
My wish list is simple:
- keep the ‘natural formation’ Cortana line
- Keyes still kills himself with frags
- Add 17 more rooms in AOTCR
- Replace the library with Halo 2s Quarantine Zone mission with zero context
- You MUST STOP for Foehammer to pick you up in the Maw
Remove all the outdoor sections from Assault on the Control Room and have it just be an endless series of circular rooms connected by bridges. It's what the real fans want!
Don't forget to remove all vehicles and aircraft from the campaign and replace it with the grappling hook. Halo is an arena shooter. 😂
I hope they don’t add sprint, because chaos will ensue and I do not want that.
They should do it like Resident Evil where you choose your character at the beginning.
So from this perspective, lets see what can be done if there is a such thing for Halo CE:
Remastered- Surprisingly or not, the most difficult change even for a remake, is it's graphics.
Peace
ok, better idea.... DOUBLE the length of the Library
Screw it, make the whole game just The Library. Give the people what they want!
@@BenPlaysGames Hell imagine a 10 hour long library, my dearest wish

Modern devs and studios can’t make the same quality of games that were made 20 years ago. It’s a skill issue.
@@Kross8761 Not "modern devs", executives.
It's a profit issue.
Hmmmm… 🧐
Otherwise: I pretty much agree with everything.
I don’t think 343 has the talent for a remake
The, for, a and remake aren't needed in that sentence
343i has nothing to offer us whatsoever. Stop buying from them. Don't even consider them when someone says the name Halo.
Out of all the studios Microsoft has acquired, the one they should have gone for a long time ago is Bluepoint. Would love to see what they could do with the older Halos.
what if they gave halo to the coalition?
You absolutely can remake a masterpiece. Look at any Resident Evil remake.
@PR0T0_ true, or the dead space remake.
@@personnelprotonAgreed. RE2 and RE4 remake are amazing in their own ways. RE3 remake wasn’t as good though imo.
I've never played it but am going to be streaming it later this week, looking forward to it.
Yeah I don’t really think they should add much to the good parts, because if it does suck at least it will have some good parts.
SPV3 is an interesting mod. Not a good remake though.
@@Oppen1945 still it's better than anything 343 is capable of doing.
I don't think they'll mess up aesthetics again considering they made halo 2 anniversary
Eh, the Halo 2 Anniversary Elites’ upper back look so weird as well as the multiplayer Beam Rifle.
THANK YOU. SERIOUSLY!
ShreddedNerd's videos on it are great too!
@@3mpt7 or just design maps and encounters around a fixed movement speed??
you don't need to go faster if the game's designed around one speed
I agree with everything you’re saying. But I just feel like they’ll mess this up SO BAD 😂 and in typical 343 fashion
I would hate to see a CE remake cutting the lines Guilty Spark makes about Chief being a descendent of the Forerunners
The armor MUST be the classic look tho, for all of them
You know it’s a good day when Ben uploads 🕺
Cheers dude!
The only remake i'd want is halo 1 in a new engine. Otherwise the only thing i'd argue for is a director's cut of the halo games since bungie had a lot of wild ideas + adding the extra lore and events from the books would make them feel fresh.
Just a graphical update would do zero to excite me. Reimagine the game and go wild with it while keeping the core elements.
Peter Jackson's 'Landfall' 😢
Microsoft killed it.
Can't wait for another 343 flop
Do these Halotubers actually like 343's games or are they just pretending because being a classic Halo fan would damage their position as a Halo 'Content Creator(tm)'?
4 is fine enough, a good FPS but not a good Halo game for the most part. 5 is fairly poor. Infinite has amazing gameplay, but a dodgy story and a pointless open world.
@@BenPlaysGames Eh I'd say Halo 5 has better gameplay than Infinite...at least when you remove spartan charge as a factor.
Let’s hope it goes well, cause if not both teams would be upset, Xbox and PlayStation
I really like the 343 Forerunner esthetic and spartan armor, they feel powerful
But for the rest, natural unsc or covenant environment and units i prefer the og version
In the best way I can agree with you: "you are no heretic.."
Cheers again, friend.
Great video again.
Don't remaster, DON'T remake, move forward. Give us something new.
You missing that first charged plasma shot at 0:56 is the ick
8:43 why doi feel is 343/microsoft silencing anyone trying to opose their ideas
The reason I’m not crazy about remaking CE again isn’t because it’ll look bad, have new mechanics, expanded story, new voice lines or be available on ps, it’s because we don’t live in that world anymore. It’s why remakes of old entertainment IPs don’t usually work. The only thing that needs to be redone would be the tv series.
This is all my speculation. Development of MCC is pretty much dead.
Rumors say there’s going to be Halo for PlayStation, so…
Bring on the new collection of Halo which will be called The Halo Collection, available on Xbox and PlayStation. (Wii?)
Start things of, they devs will launch the game when a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is complete, with no rush in development.
These days they aren’t restricted to the size of a DVD
The core of the Halo: CE will be the same, but there might be bigger battles, cut content, more scenes.
I haven't heard the expression "tarted up" in many a year!
For brand recognition.
To not have to bother creating something new (unprofitable).
Low risk (profitable).
Also important to note that this is most likely going to be on PlayStation for the first time. A successful launch on PlayStation could revitalize the franchise or tank it beyond repair
I think it's a well crafted case... but i'd have to vote leave it alone.
It's fine as the original, just keep making sure it plays smoothly on the modern hardware and then leave it to be
Yap yap chilling in the meadow mission with his ghost
If they're going to do it, they should remake the entire trilogy into one massive game.
Here is the problem with 343 they can't add one thing without subtracting another or two
Infinite still and never will have a proper boom stick
If has to be done remaster ce to the xbox original not the mcc gearbox port that still has stuff missing comparing it to my og copy and Xbox
Then keep the original campaign untouched bar a few very minor fixes and alow thoes 'fixes' to be reversed by players example making warthogs and scorpions explode
Once its been completed and sold
Work on levels inbetween the levels of ce as dlc
I am sure the books have plenty of inspiration for levels alpha base for example
Give us a marine mission where you are the last member of your platoon and you need to lowe wolf it back to alpha base
Or an arbi level about containing the flood and finding forunner relics
Or counter missions to johns story by arbi keeps getting foiled by the profits ajender letting john escape
i’m definitely remake over remaster. they can add and change a lot of things that would make the game better. hopefully 343 doesn’t let us down again lol
You would think so but they probably won't continue with that story. Halo 7 will be totally different and everything after infinite will be in a book.
@@rm25088 no doubt. Chief will have left the famous Zeta Halo behind, Spirit of Fire will still be at the Ark and we'll never see it or them again and the Endless will be dealt with offscreen as the useless threat they are.
@@kmdreacts yup that is what I think is going to happen. They do it every single time.
Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt.*
Fool us once (Halo 4), shame on them.
I'm going into this one as optimistic as I can
It was a bit extra with the details Sometimes less is more and halo ce is a perfect example .
I just think that they really should stop looking to other franchises, there's enough room to experiment with already set lore in the novels, there's much room to expand the gamplay loop of the original trilogy
Just the fact that you could travers a whole map walking in Halo 2 as fast as you could travers the halo 5 remake running is bugging me to no end. Sprinting doesn't make a game's pace faster, it slows it down
And hell, Halo 4 being so inspired in COD, Halo 5 being so inspired in advanced movility shooters, and infinite being a Fortnite 2.0 is sad considering that halo WAS the trend setter, not the trend follower
To hell with microsoft and 343
We need Halo 3 Anniversary first.
Nope
343 will fuck up using the arbiter for plot additions
Good idea if the narrative ideas of the developers were competent enough
343 will end up retconning something or just adding shit no one asked for
I would much rather see them recover from the failures of infinite than remake CE, but CE with Infinite’s sandbox and gameplay mechanics (and the grappler!) would be an entire blast
Modders for free by themselves or in a team of a few people have remade CE numerous times all of which are better than anything a 100million $ 343 remake or remaster
We need the treatment that created Doom 2016
Is 343 so incompetent that they can't come up with anything original? To just re-release old games?
Anytime they DO make something original it comes out as utter dogshit. I can see why they're sticking to remaking older works, their original ideas suck
I could see this as a test/exercise to get a team trained and experienced with the Unreal Engine. Remake something familiar that the team knows how it should be, sort of like how Studio Khara redid Evangelion with the first rebuild movie to get the team’s feet wet with familiar and iconic source material.
Yes. Yes they are. It’s time people figure it out.
Yes
Tbf I heard devs at 343 did pitch hundreds of cool concepts like an ODST game similar to Helldivers, but they all got shut down by upper management. Then again everything 343 makes usually turns to garbage so who knows if those games would have been good 🤷♂️
WHY WOULD THEY REMAKE A GAME THAT IS DANG NEAR PERFECT?!?
Well it's a good thing we don't give a damn what the *modern audience* thinks. Isn't it?
Is there really any substance to where this story has blown up from. If you read the actual words it sounds pretty flimsy as leaks go
Creatively bankrupt industry can only try to imitate art with soulless "remasters". Dark times.
Whatever they do- its gonna be a disaster 😭
absolutely. If they actually remade it I feel like i'd 100% want to buy it because,
Remaster is just, Spraying a new coat on something old.
IMO Halo should do prequels and spin offs. Enough marching the story forward
I want more weapons, a lot more weapons. More vehicles too.
Dont remaster, dont remake, put it down, dissolve 343 Industries and please just put Halo to rest..
