Every meaningful people podcast is special. But as a Baal Tshuva, this episode was especially meaningful. I got to learn about this interesting personality and he taught me something very important. We feel happiest when we’re feeling close to Hashem. My happiest moment was in college when I was discovering Hashem & Yiddishkeit, as I began my spiritual journey. Now I can better understand why we are told that we will be in a very happy place, when we are in Shamayim, when we are more closely located to Hashem.
Watching this now in Jerusalem, as I just heard of his passing. Very moving. Impeccable English!! unusual for Israelis of that generation, I didn't know he spoke so well. Such a pity so many were raised without Yiddishkeit in Israel. In its absence they've made and glorified 'secular' into another stream of Judaism. I most love his hilarious skit with Arik Einstein, poking fun of new immigrants arriving on the shores here back in the 50's. They both performed all the roles and accents to perfection. May he rest in peace.
A man who is a phenomenal piece of Israeli history and a giant in the Torah world today. He is so very modest and will do whatever he can to spread Torah. Baruch HaShem
A totally different interview than Reb Reuvein Fienstein. Yet, you folks have succeeded to bring a meaningful person to the public with this interview.
All souls together like molecules of diamonds only together we can shine. Everyone has a different aspect to fix, a different task to fulfill, together we will light the world 💙
I heard the rabbis story before of his rebbetzin but hearing from his is better. It is amazing testament to the power of torah and the potential in the most distant Jews to come back to HaShem, if a sefer is just opened for them one time. HaRav Zohar is also so correct it's about love and ha kadosh baruch Hu. Talk to HaShem. A real connection is not just being on the other side of the red line. Thanks for the episode!!
What a great episode, ty guys. I think there is a halacha in the Rambam that describes Rabbi Uri Zohar the best - "A Baal-Teshuvah should not consider himself distant from the level of the righteous because of the sins and transgressions that he committed. This is not true. He is beloved and desirable before the Creator as if he never sinned. Furthermore, he has a great reward for he has tasted sin and yet, separated himself from it, conquering his [evil] inclination. Our Sages declared: "In the place where Baalei Teshuvah stand, even the completely righteous are not able to stand." The level of Baalei Teshuvah transcends the level of those who never sinned at all, for they overcome their [evil] inclination more"
Rav Uri Zohar was an attraction in his past life as a non-Frum and as a Frum Jew. He was so unique that a whole country used to stop their life and watched his live show once a week on the Israeli-only channel back then in the seventies, He never prepared for his shows, he used to make everybody laugh, in other words, he made people very happy. Everybody loved Uri Zohar. You guys come with prepared questions, but Harav Uri Zohar answered each and every question very deeply from his heart. It's already 3 weeks since Rav Uri Zohar passed away and the whole country mourns him. He was a very high Neshama. Ashrav that he was zocheh to make Teshuva like Rabi Akiva . He is still mashpiah from his videos online that make him Iluy Neshama. Your interview to him was a zechus. You kept on asking him more about his past life and Rav Uri Zohar kept on telling you that he found real Happiness in yidishkeit. That is the reward of a real Baal Teshuvah, that he is so connected to Hashem that he felt as ECHAD ONE with Hashem and this is the highest Madrega of a Baal Teshuvah. Hatzlacha with your program.
I really enjoyed hearing about Rabbi Zohar's life journey. I also enjoyed what he had to say. More to the point he has helped me understand a few things about my own life. I had to laugh when the Rabbi said his wife threatened to divorce him. My wife threatens to divorce me every day but still hasn't. Please Hashem I hope it never happens she is a wondeful person.
What an amazing job again! Something that stuck out to me from Rabbi Uri and Amare 2 people that were very successful in the outside world mentioned how hard they worked to get there and if they put that same effort into Torah and Judaism I think it’s a great message for all of us.
Inspirational journey. I am sharing with my family and friends. I have a question from Rabbi Zohar or his family and from the intelligent interviewers: What was the turning point for Rabbi Zohar; what trauma or suffering, if any, caused him to come closer to Hashem and dedicate the second part of his life to Torah.

Working and going to the army are Jewish things to be proud of. At the same time you can learn Torah and be a frum Jew. Its a sad choice to make those opposing views. Learn Torah and support your family and defend your people. As in the Torah itself.
I know the Rabbi is passionate about learning and LevLeachim …. but I so wish he had encountered Chabad 40 years ago. Their mission and outreach …. And their message for him …. would have been even richer and more meaningful.
Shame on you for plugging Chabad and demeaning HaGaon Rav Uri Zohar, zt"l. Only Hashem can tell how much he would have accomplished had he been approached by Chabad. There are many different paths back to Yiddishkeit, and it's not all about Chabad, as much as you want it to be.
Really? You think youre on top of the line in bringing people to teshuva? You do a great job, not to undermine you...but teshuva is teshuva...it takes the heart to get THERE...After that youre home free ready to embark according to your desire and ability.
I actually blame certain 19th Century European Gedolim for NOT following in the footsteps of the students of the GR"A and many early Chassidic masters who came in large numbers to the 4 Holy Cities between 1800 and 1820. Suddenly Torah Jews stopped coming. Suddenly 60 yrs later (2 generations later), Secular Jews started coming in large numbers. And by 1900 the vast majority of new Olim were Bolshevicks. Religious Jews had the opportunity to be the Majority in Eretz Yisrael between 1820 and 1880, but too many European Rabbanim fought against Rav Kalisher on this issue (without mentioning names). They, more than anyone else, blew it. The Frum were given the opportunity to lead the way with Aliyah from 1820 onwards, but they simply stopped coming. The Mid to Late 19th Century European Gedolim truly blew it. They foolishly handed the baton of Restarting the Judean Commonwealth in Eretz Yisrael over to the Bolshevicks.
@@mayer.korching9828 You will have to discover the writings of Rabbanim like Shimshon R Hirsch and the Sefas Emes to glean from their reasoning why they refused to lead Aliyah movements when it would have made a difference.
@@dovbarleib3256 the damage has been done . even today Orthodox Jews are ambivalent about moving to isreal. Actually this is nothing new. Most of the Jews didn't want to leave Egypt during the exodus. They agreed with the spies in the desert and only a relatively small amount left Babylon too build the second temple. If you want to learn more about Rav Uri, I highly recommend his book "My Friends you were Robbed." I love this man and visit him at his home.
Do they have it in English
The book is so inspiring and uplifting and genuine truth
You need more episodes with this man or others like this man - if there are. He is absolutely amazing!
