Saints Row - On Day 170

- The latest game in the Saints Row series came out on August 23rd, exactly 170 days from the release of this video. Five months to prove that the Saints Row game fans had been waiting almost a decade for wasn't going to crash and burn. But through countless gameplay issues, design flaws, and overall poor reactions, Saints Row still hasn't lived up to it's full potential. Will they ever be able to fix Saints Row enough to appease the fan base?

I think johnny gat said it best " the saints used to mean something ".
This is what happens when you make a game for an audience that doesn't exist
Exactly, I don't understand why they're trying to appeal to the 5%...
and a bad game at that
This is like Tobacco cigarettes try to advertising theirs stuff to asthmatic people.
What happened to the audience
This is how the Row ends
Not with a bang, hell not even a whimper
a soy-filled burbble of sadness
Killbane predicted this far too well
@Flare yes, because an all dude team totally woulda made this trash heap so much better
Nah, its the arrogance that they had after the initial trailer drop. Everyone said it looked like softened up fortnite and they had awful double down takes. So volition kind of does deserve the hate.
They didn't say that at all they said it look like woke trash 😂
@@theoutsiderjess4869 same thing different words
@@theoutsiderjess4869 same thing man. Go woke you go broke.
Not mentioned one of the community managers called fans terrorist for calling the game shit and she had to private her account afterwards because of intense backslash and finally good one here.
They replyed to a a very fair and constructive criticism to there game with a gif of a saints dancing and words of haters going to hate while background explode.
Like that’s not how you should professionally respond to criticism
Volition is deeply dedicated to ruining the Saints Row franchise
Nothing to ruin, it was never good to begin with.
@@mpixel2058 Saints Row 1 and 2 were good at the very beginning until Steve Jaros lead writer fuck up the storyline from SR3 to Gat outta Hell.
@@mpixel2058 Fightin’ words! The first two were great
@@Ebalosus indeed
To be fair, Volition died a long time ago, what remains is a zombified husk.
Seriously though, the reboot was made by developers and directors who had nothing to do with the old games. The guys who made the og games? they jumped ship years ago.
Volition lost most of its OG developers so this game wasn't really made by original devs. They really need to remaster SR 1-2 and then continue the story from there
I would love an in-depth analysis of how Capcom almost killed ( and revived) the resident evil series
Most of the Devs that worked on the Reboot has never worked on a Saints Row game before
Game breaking bug's didn't ruin this game. Unfortunately that's to be expected nowadays. Saint's Row used to be a extremely offensive franchise. It made fun of everyone. The 2022 game was very politically correct. IMO there are customers for a game that makes fun of everyone. There are no customers for a game that is afraid of the permanently offended people on social media. The general public would have bought millions of copies of a offensive Saint's Row game. Nobody bought the watered down politically correct version.
It’s funny, because as offensive as the first two games could be, the second game was remarkably progressive for its time when it came to customisation. Like it had a _gender slider_ instead of a switch for choosing your character’s gender, for example.
Bingo, well said. The new game was everything I did not want, and I have been playing since the OG on Xbox
Da gameplay also is trash in dis asset flip
Saints Row 2 literally let you be trans but ok weirdo
@@BobSmith-kk4kp the "OG" saints row was on Xbox 360. It was basically a launch title. The first saints row was definitely offensive according to modern standards, but even back then the very first one seemed bland to most players. Almost everyone just called it a boring GTA clone. It's saints row 2 and 3 that really cemented the franchise as memorable.
I tried so hard to enjoy this game, i held it on my shelf for so long, i had little bits of fun here and there when i played it, but ultimately i just had very little motivation to actually boot it up and play it amongts the other titles i had at the time. I traded the game in about a month ago and havent thought about the game until now. Its a sad tale
Polish a turd it's still a turd
*It subsequently announced that Volition would be transferred from Deep Silver to Gearbox Entertainment*
Played about 1 hour, complete waste of money. Enjoyed all other saints games 2 and 4 were lots of even better in coop
There is absolutely no chance for it. Even if they fix it a lot of people don't want the characters. No dlc will change the characters or dialog. Not even Gear boxs resources can save it. If they had any common sense they would have scraped the game when the first trailer got a ton of dislikes. A lot of people said they did not want that but still put it out. Volition can only blame Volition.
Players have gotten tired of the mantra of "release now, fix later." So many times game shave patched later to an already dwindled player base
There was a time where a buggy released game was met with "Oh well, can't fix it now." Too many have become overly reliant on post patching that it's finally starting to catch up. If a game releases with a few bug, usually no big deal. If it releases half baked, it shoots itself in the foot. Your first impression is your most important and customers are really dialing that in these days. Release it in a finished state or it tanks everything afterwards
This latest Saints Row game is such a disappointment
Should of just cancelled the game the moment the reveal trailer dropped, put it out of its misery
They could at least delay the game for 2-3 years to revamp the story, recreate characters not being nerdy hipster and a less buggy game the game would be great.
5:34
Same thing will happen with DLC Expansions
LOL Thank you.
The problem was they try to make the game rated e for everyone
Great work sir😀 it frustrates me to see a great franchise lose it way, when we try to please everybody we please nobody 😡☹😎😀👍
Volition going to Gearbox actually really does sound like a good thing. But getting my hopes up is dangerous so I won't
Devs/publishers must just rely on pre orders and day 1 sales. As soon as you release a turd like Saints Row, the negative reviews will start flowing and impact not only future sales of that game, but also future sales from your team.
There used to be a handful of companies that I would buy almost all of their releases, or at least follow them closely. These days I struggle to mention one.
I am unlikely to check out a game a week after launch for fixes/improvements because I bought what they said was ready for launch and it either was or wasn't. If it was I'm probably still playing it, and if it wasn't I've refunded or forgotten about it.
If you go to a restaurant and get a terrible meal, you aren't going to return over and over to see if it has improved.
The game was made for zoomers.... who are too busy posting their sausage/ avocados on TikTok.
The new location had so much potential. The Characters though... They didn't go far enough. Eli was just a standard coward, Kevin was just a Gat clone. Neenah was probably the ONLY character that had promise in my opinion. Was she another Shaundi clone? Yes. Did she have any defining character traits? Yeah but it's overshadowed by the jokes
the difference between this Saint row and games like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 is that underneath all the bugs and issues they were still good games... That simply is not the case with this Saints Row reboot. It doesn't matter if they fix every little bug in the game, nor would any amount of DLC make the game better. Not when at its core its a souless product designed to appeal to the mythical 'modern audience'
Day ∞ without the Saints Row 2 PC Patch ☠️
8:00 ngl. Nothing they could do in a DLC would salvage this travesty of character and story writing. Gameplay can be improved . The story can’t.
Still rough😑
All I want is a volition to go out of business. I have 0 mercy for this kind of shit
I concur with your plan but I'm worried that the game's reception might've prevented them from getting additional funds to fix the game thus the lack of updates. I wouldn't mind being wrong though.
you know what is interesting is that Gearbox said some very similar things about 'providing tools and support' during the production of Duke Nukem Forever when they stepped in to "assist" 3D Realms before Randy at Gearbox took the helm as a means to get ahold of the IP itself. And we all saw how that game turned out. I'd hate to see the same thing happens to the Saints.
5 months? I could have told you that from the trailer!
This game is utter garbage.
Playing the game from launch I've actually managed not to encounter many of the bugs people have but since I picked up the game again a couple days I've had bugs at every turn. At one point it was just unplayable. This is without a doubt the most disappointing Saints row game I've every played.
Love this series, I hate that this game disappointed.
All and all... This Saints Row game have some stuff that Cyberpunk do need so badly... Also the other way around...
Two trophies away from platinum but can’t get it because some challenges don’t track. I refuse to start a new game.
So glad I still have 1 & 2. I have 3 but haven’t played it yet. Is it good?
Nah man there is no redemption for this series its dead.
Unless they remaster the first two games.
@@VanderleiP. Not on the table, they to scared to offend anyone.
Well, I’m just ready for the DLC to come
Villainize your original fanbase while fishing for a fanbase that had no interest in your game. Hate to say this but i genuinely hope Volition goes bankrupt
I’ve played all the saints row games and this is not a saints row game. This is Zoomers without consequences.
How about that story DLC that never got released ????
You know, the question with video games is always: "Why would I play this over something I actually like?", and the Saints Row 2022's answer is awkward silence followed by a fart
That page turning sound is very annoying
Can you see your crew members walking around the world like in sr3?
Yeah the bugs sound really small and almost deliberate. The kind of bug’s you’re complaining about don’t happen unless someone wanted it to and didn’t do their job. Can’t wait to here about the layoffs
This game was fucked when it took place in the desert
I'd like to see this as the DMC: Devil May Cry of the Devil May Cry franchise. Totally forgotten.
This crap cannot be saved. With the average well designed game, you can cut out the bad bits and replace them.
This game was designed to be entirely a bad bit from the start. Best thing to do is start over from scratch, preferably with a company that actually respects the franchise. And I highly doubt that Gearbox is that company, from their track record lately.
meh at this point, this is abbadonware...
I wish we went back to Stillwater
I'm kinda disappointed in how this reboot turned out. I just replayed SR 4, which was my first and only SR I've ever played, and I absolutely loved it because of the powers, the over-the-topness, the humor and the creativity. Researching the other games of the series I'm really hesitant to try them because that semi-realistic gangster simulation stuff without the powers and crazy shit of SR 4 looks so generic and like a chore to me. I'd hoped to see them expand on what SR 4 did, even with a new cast of characters, I don't really care. Just give me that fun bonkers gameplay and satiric humor and I'm good.
I like saints row it's dumb fun, so I'll pick it up
When it's dirt cheap
The game devs are part of the blame they lied outright
Instead of just being a really good second to gta they ruin themselves saints row 1 & 2 were excellent and had more loyal fans of the franchise.
I like videos like this that try to talk things out rationally. It's so much better than other shouty youtubers. This here, is a balanced perspective with good suggestions for improvement.
Appreciate it!
I wanted to like this game. I'm a bit Saints Row fan, and I was okay with a reboot. You had good characters as a base from the other games, and none of the new characters were interesting. They should've remixed what they already had rather than creating a bunch of unproven and unlikable hipsters looking to pay off student loans.
They also took away the teeth of the series with the writing in this one. SR4 and Gat Out of Hell weren't particularly vulgar or offensive, but they still had the Saints Row feel to them.
This new game had a fairly decent character creator. I like the dusty, desert setting. The issue lies in the characters first and foremost. I can put up with glitches and bugs. Saints Row 2 was notoriously buggy but that didn't stop it from being my favorite of the series.
Saints Row is just a boring game when it came to the Atticus mission I decided to shoot him because that was the only thing Gangsta about this game and the open world being so lifeless doesn't make people want to go back
Analytics.
What a goddamn awful game it was!
Saints row one and two I love especially two, saints row three I only like the zombie area and a couple of the weapons were fun to. the rest of the series I don’t really care for.
Let me tell you right now that pleasing everyone is basically easy make it like Saints row one with the funnest Saints row 2 and then boom don't reboot the cast they failed purposely
i think this game is okay.
not great but not the worst.
Your video crashed my RUclips app.
clearly you haven't played sr1&2
Thae best way to fix it is make an actual saints row 5 and have the cast of the saints row reboot get killed in the trailer
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️Just don’t bring Jim Boone and the one woman or whoever else that screwed up the game back into the mix because we will just have a repeat of last year
Idk if I want to buy this game they never should have made this game entirely in the desert they should’ve been just a area in the game and who owns the rights to this game isn’t it deep Silver
This game was so woke it gave me boredom.
Worst sequel in video game history . RIP SR1 & SR2
Here's the thing if the main story is trash the the world is beyond boring and the most important crucial feature 4A shooting game the aiming being broken at this point they need to scrap the game start over and start where Saints Row 2 left off I know it's an old saying but if they would have went with Saints Row 2 darker story a darker stories is more interesting a story with pure random humor isn't
"Funny" 💀💀💀
Millennial Writing by ShreddedNerd is a good explanation of why I didn't even give the game a chance after the first trailer. It's this cringy writing of 30 something year olds trying and writing to be relevant to younger audiences and failing terribly at it. It's dated before it even came out and most characters written like this are absolutely unlikeable, terrible characters. This comes from a 33 year old.
No amount of fixing is going to salvage the terrible writing and story.
I agree. Who wants to see geeks forming a gang. This game was pretty sad, without the bugs.
The thing is, even if the game runs perfectly well, its still a bad game.
Bugs and issues aside, the game was woke gen z trash in the first place. It wasn't a saints row game.
I was so excited for a saints row game. Huge fan of 1-3. This game is trash. Couldnt even get through it. Wish i could get that 60$ back.
Haters gonna hate 😂
Remember that one?? Lol
"These developers don't deserve to be hated."
I respectfully disagree, although "hate" is a strong word. Let's forget for a second how cringey the characters and the dialogue are, how bland the open world is, how boring the gameplay is - which all in all makes for a game that should be sold at a 20 bucks price point, certainly not more. But on top of building a very, very sub-par game at its core, they released a mostly unplayable, broken mess and didn't clearly communicate when fixes would be coming and for what, and that really shows what companies have come to expect gamers are willing to put up with.
Sure, these days a *lot* of franchises are getting raped by much lesser talented idiots than the innovators who once created them and made them successful in the first place, so this is just another one in a long list. But if all of the above isn't deserving of... well, maybe not hate, but certainly disgust, what is?
People are waiting for saints row dlc? 😅
We're almost in March where's the DLC? 🤷♂️
@@jacoryarnett7347 hopefully not coming. Let the saints die in peace
Awful game
I enjoyed certain aspects of the game but overall I’d say it was the worst Saints Row game ever. Everything was just Sub-par. if you want to play the game wait for it on Game Pass. But never under any circumstances pay for this game.
devs need to realise that the woke culture, although dominant in media, is literally 0.2% of the population and does not represent their audience AT ALL. Literally nobody gives a shit about this story, should have made something that speaks to the actual fans
No, it will never be a good game.
In short: this game still sucks.
Garbage doe
Thank god I didn’t buy this 🗑️
the story still sucks...lipstick on a pig want change anything
Soooooybooooois
This game is trash
For the record, I've played through this entire game on Series X and experienced no bugs. Not one. Missions started up. Exploration produced nada. I don't know what some of you are doing to produce these glitches and bugs, but it probably has nothing to do with simply sitting down and playing the game. Just an observation.
Edit: alright, I recall the super move glitch being there when I got the game on release day. A patch or so later nothing. To my point, I had to recall such a thing, but it was nothing that took me out of playing. Similar to the invisible enemies in Elden Ring when that first came out.
Oh so the game suffered because the devs don’t have enough people on their team that agree with the political perspectives of the game. Sounds like Saints Row suffered because to many right wingers work their
That game ain't ever gunna get good
