Hmm… while you are at the beginning stages of your craft… at 63, I am at the end, but also am just starting out. 🤔 I am not looking at my art ( I paint 🎨 ) from a perspective of trying to make money or a career, I am doing it from a perspective of trying “to capture something/what it is I am seeing”. I guess I have an urge/need to share that somehow - although I’m not sure what difference this would really make. And that’s about it so far! 😌 I liked your “Obsessed” video btw (also just watched it) in how you look at other artists/their work + reflect on yourself/your art.
    Shine on! 😌🇨🇦

Got here from your psychology brain vid. and I want to thank you for sharing your journey or "training arc" moving into your content. We needed you here since most creators are established one way or another. So once again, chief, thank you for your work! Keep fighting the good fight!

You're very humble. I hope you go far.
I'm just starting my drawing journey. Your videos have been the most helpful to me in everything I've looked at on youtube.
Finding exercises is the easy part. Motivation and Method are the hard things -- you're not afraid to talk about them. Good work.

I get this. I started my animation journey around beginning of last year. And that was a rude awakening. I have created my own training Arc cause my drawings looked amateurish. Since then my skills have blown up way better than when I started nd the funny thing is I’m still on the basics. It’s crazy. Love the video man. Loooking forward to see your end goal.

Yoo!! You started drawing at the start of 2022? I started at around September-October 2022, and I really want to see how much of a difference a guy who started at around the same time as me, looks. And also.. can you tell me what your best animation and art are?

I have never been able to draw. But I love art so I have gravitated to doing abstract artwork particularly landscapes... So many of the ideas that I have require inability to draw .. So i'm trying to find some good channels to get started... And this is a good one

Spend some time in a museum (or with a world class museum's online collection -- especially one that has an enlarge feature) or pour over a really high-quality art book with old master drawings (if you've got access to that otherwise on line or better in person if you're lucky - drawing exhibits are usually short duration for reasons ....). The history of art is HUGE. The different ways of seeing, using materials, choices of subjects, etc. are so varied. Looking at the past you see a much broader landscape than what's available only in contemporary art. THEN, find out from the past what you really love. What do you love most? Make sure you learn more about THAT. Some artists you should definitely learn about include Raphael, Rubens, Ingres, Rembrandt, Degas -- given your interest in figure. Your attitude is 100% spot on. Keep doing what you're doing. What you learn from art, apply to life. The marvel of life is that you have binocular vision. The real world is even more complicated, but wonderful, right? Draw real things. Like Sargent, set up the easel somewhere (figuratively speaking) and just draw what's before you. Drawing is so fabulous because you can take drawing materials anywhere. It's a studio that is totally portable, infinitely flexible. www.nga.gov/collection/art-object-page.46491.html www.nga.gov/collection/collection-search.html

I have always been drawing and painting and making random stuff since I could move lol. I never really studied anything even though I want to start learning more fundamentals soon. But I was lucky enough to land a job as an artist and put my skills to the test. My employers were impressed with my skills. I was only 18 at the time and I have to say, there is no better feeling than being able to draw all day and be appreciated for your talent and hard work. And the cherry on top was I was actually being paid really good. (Basically I'm just saying don't give up aspiring artists)

So when you focused on anatomy and shading, what were your main exercises? Like gesture drawing and other things from looking at photo reference on the internet? I’m asking because I’ve been told countless times to draw from life, but having a bunch of interesting references (even if they’re two-dimensional photos) is much more entertaining… 🤔

I'm at a point where appt of anatomy tutorials on art aren't helping anymore, I already know certain basics but its still hard🐿

Yeah! Drawing a lot can take you to deity level! Or burn you out forever. Like it does a million other people. Otherwise we'd have millions "da vincis".
