- With the arrival of a new family member, I've decided it's time to step away from the off-grid cabin life and focus on a new adventure...for now. However, I have returned for one last full day at the cabin to pack up my building equipment, repair my sauna, and give the cabin a thorough cleaning. I'll also tell you about my upcoming plans to build a mobile cabin. I'm sad to go but as a wiseman once said, "every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end."

Having a child is so life altering. It brings so much joy and a deep sense of protectiveness, you also begin to protect yourself more as well because your children need you. Another thing you learn is children are great adapters to life. So with love and guidance you build your family.

Congratulations on the daughter! Parenthood is great and kids are great at any age. We'll miss the cabin videos, but you can still do some and add others - fishing, camping, hiking, etc.

Just found your site again, then saw that I am subscribed. The great thing about being a senior is that you just keep finding new things. The weird this is that I keep meeting new folks who already know my name! Love your content, videography, and editing. Surprised you don't have a screen door, but suppose the mosquitos are so large and slow that you can slap them away as you go in. I saw a sign when there that they are the state bird.

I will add that growing up with cast iron, the best way to clean out any gunk on the bottom, is sand. Rinse that out…put your pan on the wood stove or very low heat to dry out the water. Doesn’t take long. When it cools a bit, you rub the inside of the pan with CRISCO!! Olive oil/veg oil will build up over time and become funky. Use Criso shortening. Not a lot…just a skim, but work it in. It’s perfection. We did our cast iron sinks the same way. We grew up with a lot of cast iron. That’s the proper care!
